The Tavor platform is the only worthwhile Bullpup. The T7 fares even better against its non bullpup competitors than the TAR/X95 versions IMO. With a 20” barrel it’s a jack of all trades battle rifle. My only complaint is those heebs don’t keep spare parts in stock which, granted, is a pretty big problem to have. They will not sell you a spare bolt, you’ll either have to send the gun in or buy a fricking spare.

AUG has quick change barrels. So if the calibers are close enough and fit in the same magazine it should be possible.

      Anonymous

every gun swaps calibers by changing barrels.
you can change them quickly on the AUG, although there is no real-world benefit to that.
the downside to this useless feature is that you have no handguard and your finger is an inch away from a searing hot gasblock at all times.

i take it you just don't understand sentence structure?

The folded foregrip is the handguard, its fine. Sure you wouldn't c-clamp it in the same way you wouldn't with an AK gas block, but that's entirely a skill issue; a mistake you don't need to make and wont make twice. You hold the bottom of the folded foregrip like a handstop, its comfy and puts your hand halfway down the barrel from the gas block. Or you could just use the foregrip like a foregrip, that's fine too. Everything I've said is totally obvious if you've ever held an AUG, which casts doubt on your posts.
          [...]
Yes, but until recently the only supported caliber was a 9mm conversion which are hard/maybe impossible to get. The barrel chances for civilians were more about barrel length than caliber.

          >folded foregrip is viable

    >20” 300 blackout.

absolutely not. Atleast make use of a bullpup’s only benefit vs conventional and get it in a normal mid to high overbore ratio cartridge (5.56), if you must go 300 blackout. Get a <12” barrel and a can for an ultra tiny suppressed rifle.

300 blackout gains virtually zero velocity between 14 and 20 inches. A 20” barrel just makes no sense.

          Anonymous

They'd just replace it with another receiver made the same way that would break the same way the next time your dumb ass dropped it with the barrel out, plus you'd still be seething about the new receiver having to go to your FFL or something.

I could give less of a shit about having to go to my ffl to pick up a replacement receiver. Hell id prefer it that way I dont have to deal with FedEx . If the receiver cracks from falling 4 feet onto a hard wood floor there's either something wrong with the alloy they used or the design of the receiver for the U.S. market is flawed.

The trigger guard on my 2011 isn't integral to the function of the gun . if it cracks by being dropped that means there's something very wrong with the metallurgy of the entire receiver

IRL the Australian SASR rejected using the AUG/F88 in favour of the M4 primarily because in swim-assaults the guide-rods on the bolt-carrier get filled with water and don't drain without completely disassembling the rifle.
(A barrel can be drained easily on either F88 or M4 of course)
The water in the guide-rods stops it compressing under recoil and it blows the inner guide-rods attached to the back of the plastic buttstock out through the rubber butt-pad into the firers shoulder.

AUG was designed in Austria where there's no oceans so no swim-assaults.

      Anonymous

No bolt release paddle on the NATO (the bolt still holds open on the last round, you just don't have a button to drop it after you reload) and the trigger is measurably worse because one of the trigger bars is cut off to make room for the AR mag catch.

    Biggest risk:
Both barrels are too similar externally.
.30Blk will chamber in a 5.56 barrel and the bigger pill will cause the chamber to explode as a bore obstruction.
Unless you're 100% autistic about always matching barrels to calibres eventually it will go Boom, and as a bullpup it will be right next to your face.
Or buy it and sell off one of the barrels.

      Anonymous

      >30Blk will sometimes chamber in a 5.56
Ftfy. People make a way bigger deal of this than it is. Almost all of the .300 blk I've tried this with will NOT chamber in my 5.56 barrels. 110gr Barnes black tips, fiocchi 125gr SSTs, and all the subs I've tried it with would not chamber. There definitely are loads that will chamber but this is a problem that can be effectively and easily prevented by stocking loads that do not have that problem.

        Anonymous

Even if not all rounds chamber its still a PITA to get to the range with your .30 barrel and .223 ammo or vice versa, and have go all the way back to unfrick it.

All of his varminting trophy photos predate the 300 BLK AUGs.

not bad, but I wouldn't buy it unless you intend to suppress it.
That said AUG is pretty pimp, assuming those morons have fixed their cracking stock problems.

        >assuming those morons have fixed their cracking stock problems.
To the best of my knowledge, they haven't yet. They surely will eventually.

      >took this long to mention the cracking stocks
pretty sure /k/ doesn't have many AUG owners, or at least recently purchased ones.
predditors were crying about the cracked stocks for weeks until it seems the mods banned everyone discussing it, now nobody talks about it. strange. no news on which ones are affected besides ~2019 and up. still haven't shot mine yet unfortunately and now i don't want to :/

Nu-Steyr USA shit is garbage and they are using nitrided barrels on a $2k gun. Imagine paying $2,000+ for a rifle and you don't even get chrome lining (lol, lmao even).
