shia and sunni literally boil down to, if muhammed had a step brother or not. Something like that maybe a half brother. and here we are 2000 years later.

The main difference between Shia Islam and Sunni Islam is who is the successor to the prophet.
              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succession_to_Muhammad

                >The main difference between Shia Islam and Sunni Islam is who is the successor to the prophet.
No, that's a meme. Succession dispute is the main difference between Sunni, Zaydi, and Ibadi. There are no medieval Sunni authorities or edits that ever described the other two as being disbelievers or heretics.

If we focus on Twelver Shia beliefs alone, they believe:
                - The Imams were created before the earth itself
                - The Imams are omniscient (have knowledge of all things)
                - The Imams are infallible (can make no sin or mistake)

These constitute shirk (polytheism) in Sunnism and are the main reason why Ithna'ashari Shia (Twelvers) are considered disbelievers, heretics and apostates and not merely deviant or someone you simply have a philosophical and liturgical disagreement with.

The dispute with Zaydi Shia is largely related to Muhammad's succession. They also have an authentic historical lineage that can be used to put weight behind their philosophical views and are not merely a cult which formed later on that applied their beliefs retroactively. Both Zaydism and Sunnism developed in the 700s, whereas Twelvers and Isma'ili Shia formed in the 800s.

Couped by the local ISIS folks. ISIS has considerable support amongst Afghanistan's young educated urban population. The urban population is still a minority, of course, but it is growing. Add a few famines to piss people off and blame the Taliban, and there you go.
Funnily enough, while the Taliban are ethno-nationalists and don't particularly look to export their ideology (well, they want some Pakistani clay, but that's about it), ISIS is actually more liberal in its interpretation of the quran, e.g. when it comes to considering women not just animals to be fricked like goats.

Regarding the elbow pad, they don't need to be on the elbows. If guerilla fighters are used to crawling, they would prefer it closer to their forearms than their elbows because it provides cushioning.

Regarding the headphones, we don't know what size the helmet and headphones are. Maybe they don't fit underneath, or maybe they don't care because it's just training exercises and the point is to protect the ears from loud noise.

The IEA ran a government before, and they've learned from a lot of their mistakes in terms of policymaking and governance. I don't expect everything going smoothly though.

The IEA faces two insurgencies, one from ISK and another from the NRF. There's some overlap there as both recruit heavily from ethnic Tajiks, albeit the ISK is multi-ethnic and also includes foreign-fighters.
There's even been cases where former ANA ended up joining ISK to fight the IEA following the latter returning to power. The former IRA government never seriously fought the ISK. They would just let them run wild, partly so as to keep the occupation going, and partly so they could blame the IEA for their attacks.

The Taliban, for whatever reason, has some autistic obsession with wanting to stick to their roots by still having AKs in their propaganda videos while also making them look modern with cheap Chinese airsoft parts. You will never see them use these on the field but rather in their propaganda films.
