I love how China supports Argentina in 'reclaiming the imperialistic grabbed territory of UK' in the Falklands, but if you go

you said it backwards. Mainland China is Taiwan. Taiwan is the legitimate continuance government before the traitorous rebellion of the PRC happened. That Taiwan continues to exist continues to mandate by international law that the mainland Chinese government is illegitimate, and the equivalent of other countries and even the US dealing with a rebel warlord.

P.S.: China will probably do what Russia did and invade Taiwan, in fact its a geopolitically favorable maneuver. They will spend a while wearing themselves down and exposing their military capability vs a second string force, while the US and Europe finish exporting the semi conductor industry, leaving Taiwan a mountainous island of little value. Thats all they really wanted.

China just defines anyone living in China as Chinese. It isn’t actually an ethnic group any more than American is an ethnic group. If China imported 50 million Africans they would call them Han Chinese and 10 generations would pretend than dark-skinned Chinese with curly hair have always existed. Just look at the Jurchens and Yue the former of which are practically extinct and the latter of which are extinct as a separate ethnic group, yet the physical differences between North and South “Han” is easy to see even for the untrained eye.

members of the house of representatives and national security advisors say retarded shit all of the time and they said it in relation to a Chinese invasion, not a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Which at this point can only happen via China renouncing claims to the island because nobody in Taiwan is stupid enough to see the hong kong compromise as a solution anymore. Between 1 and 5% of Taiwanese want unification of any kind with the mainland. Taiwan has never been part of the people's republic and hasn't been controlled by the mainland since the 19th century.

If China wasn't being retarded and belligerent this never would have been an issue and there might still be a path to peaceful reunification.

If China has any critical thinking whatsoever they'd just ignore Taiwan until the USA has their own chip facilities of the same caliber. The reason the USA is REQUIRED at a live or die level to go to war over Taiwan is that they provide the chips for our high tech hardware and we simultaneously cannot allow China to deprive us of that, and we cannot allow China to take that over, as it would shift the balance of chip power to them. Ironically, this means that the power who ACTUALLY benefits most from a direct conflict between China and Taiwan as soon as possible is Taiwan, as they currently have America by the balls forcing them to defend them, but with time they will become irrelevant with the recent direction America is going with a heavy focus on domestic chip creation

The US will NEVER allow China to conquer Taiwan. Taiwan is the lynchpin of the first island chain that is containing Chinese aggression and expansionism. If Taiwan falls that allows the Chinese to further push their claims on the SCS and any surrounding territories and setup more of their shitty tofu dredge island bases to threaten the second island chains, Japan and the our ASEAN allies.

I think it's more that, considering the distance between China and Taiwan, if they throw enough shit at it (because god knows China isn't going to rely on quality to do the job instead of quantity) then obviously some shit will get through. And it's a good idea to have decent forces ready to meet them when it happens.

It makes amphibious landings that much harder. China would need to mount a massive naval landing and keep it going with a constant stream of supplies and reinforcements in order to realistically take Taiwan without spending months flattening it to the ground. If Taiwan can push that initial toehold back into the sea, then China won't be able to recover the momentum.

Hmmmm, sure seems familiar... y'know, like with Russia making threat after threat of nuclear war if the West keeps sending aid to Ukraine and Russia never following through because they know that would mean instant death for their entire nation?

And China doesn't even have enough nukes to destroy NATO AND the US. So let's say they launched an all out strike on the US, well that just means Europe is going to launch everything they have at China AND Russia just to make sure. Meanwhile a significant portion of China's ICBM's get intercepted and the US ends up with maybe 20 or so cities that get hit.

Even if a potential war is mostly the spamming of rockets, missiles, artillery, ships, and aircraft; heavy land assets are still important for any eventual ground fighting.

How are Abrams supposed to be helpful?

They need to have some armor at least. Their current tanks are hilariously old.

If they can make it to the beaches intact they're gonna absolutely fuck up the landing craft.

Abrams are fuel inefficient and not ideal for mountains either. Taiwan is mostly mountains in the center.

          >Abrams are fuel inefficient
Irrelevant with supply lines that short.
          >not ideal for mountains either
Because of the weight? It should be able to cross all the bridges it needs to.

            >Irrelevant with supply lines that short.
You mean very relevant given that Taiwan is an island without its own hydrocarbon resources. It all has to be shipped.

It is small island country, strategic movement is going to be tiny and thus fuel economy isn't going to matter that much.

And the cities are to the west. If you’re fighting in the mountains it’s already over.

Tanks wouldn't effective against PLA ships and aircraft including UAVs anyways.

Is heavy armor really an efficient force to use against marine infantry, paratroopers and helicopter assault forces?
Like if the PLA/PLAN have gotten to the point that they are offloading heavy brigades onto the island it's probably game over.

Wouldn't the resources spent on this be better invested into more standoff weapons, air defence, shore defence ect.
You could put a lot of harpoon and hellfire systems around for the same cost.

      > Is heavy armor really an efficient force to use against marine infantry, paratroopers and helicopter assault forces?
Not just yes, but also it would be the best counter. One of the big, glaring weaknesses of light infantry is that, by definition, they have to be pretty light on anti-armor. Or rather, they’re light on persistent anti-armor, since the only things they have access to is what can be carried on Peng’s back. And while you can theoretically airdrop a tank out of an aircraft, it’s a very, very inefficient use of strategic airlift.

nono anon, using strategic heavy cargo lifting planes above the most heavily defended island bristling with modern western AA is VERY good idea

We shall write this strategy down and use it for our 4-day victory parade over Taiwan!

you don't need an abrams to overmatch light infantry though that's the point, against a javelin analogue or a loitering munition there is little difference between an M60A1 and an M1A2

          Sure.
But the US isn’t producing Abrams. And I don’t think they have any M60’s left in storage.

Australia has already proven you can dump 60t behemoths in island cunts.

Pic related, military exercises in the Philippines.

ADF command BTFO anti-MBT lobbyists in the Philippine military establishment, the US Army (who always refused to bring their Abrams in island countries even in Japan) and the USMC (who dumped all of their M1A2s for more Humvees and HIMARS)
