A Finnish volunteer literally told me that they built a sauna in Ukraine but they didn't use it out of fear of thermal recon shit. He also got strafed by a Russian fighter but it got destroyed a while later. Both of these happened pretty early into the war.

If you wanna go out of your way on being miserable because you think being miserable is 'manly', be a Russian soldier
Most sane countries let their soldiers to some harmless dumb shit to keep morale up
In this case a sauna. And in case you haven't noticed, its the Ukies that currently holding out better over all.

Ukranian nationality was one born from the cossacks. Free-spirited warriors fighting against the rape hordes and polish oppressors.

Russian nationality was born from being fricked in the ass by the ruling leader and being sent to die far away. Being nothing but a cog in the machine.

At one point Russia was almost entirely self sufficient, providing for over 80% of Russia's internal demands for manufactured goods. They had the largest gold reserve in the world along with the lowest taxes and the 'Peasants State Bank' which was, to summarize, a bank offering loans at incredibly low rates of interest. This led to multiple people having farms which is why for a brief period Russia produced more cereal grains than America, Canada, and Argentina combined (these were the primary grain producers before WW1).

Now you're probably wondering where it all went wrong. You see, the Russian Tsars did not like the prospect of the Rothschild banking system. Way back in the early 1800's Tsar Alexander I rejected Nathan R's offer to set up a central bank in Russia because he knew what they would do. From that moment on Russia became a target. They held out for almost a hundred years after being on the R shit list but the Rothschilds along with the help of the United States government and Trotsky (born Lev Bronstein) instigated the Bolshevik revolution which ruined one of the greatest industrialized nations in the world

It is barely an exaggeration to say that Russia in 1914 was about as industrialized as Germany and France were in 1848, man, even grading on a curve that shit's bad.
They were still using a system of scattershot land-strip distribution for peasant farmers in the fricking 1900s, bro, even fricking MEXICO wasn't doing that shit by then, let alone the rest of Europe. Shit was wack.

I remember reading that during WW1, German commanders made their trenches as comfortable as possible while British commanders made their trenches as uncomfortable as possible. The theory behind it was that the British had to advance to push the Germans back, so they wanted to make sure that their soldiers wouldn't stay in the trench if they had a choice. I could see Russia taking a similar approach.

Morale is important, that's why America has entire units dedicated to morale-related logistics. Imagine being a Russian who doesn't have gear because it got sold to airsofters, you get captured, and as you're passing through the Ukrainian trench before you get sent off to a prison in the Western part of Ukraine you see a FRICKING SAUNA AND A COFFEE BAR in the trench.

I'd be down for hot tubs, sounds a little easier too.

        Anonymous

Yeah this isn't a case of American logistics being unable to do it but more that saunas just aren't part of the culture here in general, neither are public baths. Just one of those things. We do have them at the South Pole in Antarctica.

I'd be down for hot tubs, sounds a little easier too.

Family built a big hot tub at a northern Maine family cabin, not sure if it's easier or not, a real issue is keeping the thing clean and cycling the water (and supplying that much water). Saunas strike me as more efficient on consumables and maintenance, but I'm no expert.

Jealousy and fear. Jealousy of course is obvious, but the latter matters more in some ways. Seeing people undeniably of the same kind from same conditions actually pick themselves up and throw off the shit and work to improve their homeland and make things better absolutely destroys Russia's entire narrative of victimhood and cynicism. It puts the lie to "oh it's all western oppression!!" or "there's nothing we can do" or "leadership doesn't matter and we shouldn't care about politics" etc. Russian leaders obviously fear this a lot, it could give some small parts of the population ideas, but even Russian mongrel serfs may end up hating it for being better.

Someone post that video of the russian's getting drone naded in their fox hole from a few days back because they just left is an open fricking hole. The thing is literally surrounded by dirt and broken up trees and fallen wood, would have been the work of <1hr for a couple men to do a make shift wood/tarp/dirt roof that would have trivially shrugged off one of those little improvised drone grenades without the slightest issue. And also kept them warmer and protected from rain like actual humans.

Everyone has their "WTF" point and I know this war has been full of them but that was one for me. Like just incomprehensible. When I was a literal child playing innawoods and building forts myself or with siblings or neighbor kids they were better protected and had more effort than those russian solders. 7 months into a war and their trenches would result in a firing squad in fricking WW1 they're so shit. Straight lines, zero protection of any kind, like I can't even understand the thinking there as human. Our fricking most ancient ancestors developed the concept of "shelter" even if just going into caves. Why would you dig this big hole and then just call it done??? AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

If anyone had done that to his foxhole, he would just been forced out of it by another russian soldier who would have taken it over. You can't have nice things in Russia, why even try to have nice things when everyone around you will just destroy or steal it.

Unironically yeah this is a good point, and a basic example of how absolutely destructive the simple words of "corruption" or "lawless" is. It's what people mean when talking about a society/institution truly "rotting", where people are robbed of all initiative because anything good is just looted by someone else, and having things be shit is actively incentivized because you're more likely to be left alone. Zero trust between anyone except rare close family/friends, which costs so much fricking money in potential lost. Simple things we take for granted can't be done in a low-trust society without any respect for institutions, values, rights or between people. It's not just the big obvious thing we've talked about on /k/ like kit being stolen and sold, it's two guys in a fox hole they don't bother to improve beyond the bare minimum because their minds are so rotted they don't even think about doing more then the minimum in anything, ever, and then dying for it.

Russia is a good warning to the West in that way I guess. Whatever our disagreements, we should work to avoid becoming THAT because it means all progress stops.
