The verdict is not yet out on that trucks are those exactly.

This is indeed the correct and most moderate take on the matter. Nothing's been confirmed yet that I've seen, and this has all the hallmarks of a story that got blown out of proportion.

However, I'd like to add that I've lost count of the times since January 2022 that I've said "oh, come ON now... that would be completely retarded..." and watched as reality yet again proved stranger and more ridiculous than fiction.

Disregarding the age of the trucks (1938 or 1957 is old either way) but what exactly was the plan there? Use the trucks as a sort of really fast APC that drops off troops and gets out? Or as some sort of jeep replacement?

There is no plan, they need vehicles capable of, at the very least, a one way trip. We'll be seeing mobiks in grandpas ancient lada wielding pitchforks on the front lines before they admit equipment shortages

Same here. Definitely not AA, from the footage I'd assume it's 63s. We'll find out soon enough
It's just weird they sent a truck convoy all the way to the front line

    1937? Wtf is that?
There is like no way someone can reasonably use trucks from 1937, it would just break down and no spare parts and no tires etc etc.

I work with a guy that dresses like that on the weekend. D.C. government contracting job kind of place. Likes to wear designer and only owns 4 guns: FN SCAR, FN Reflex, S&W shield and S&W M&P sport. He said he bought the Smith and Wessons when he got his first job. Then he got the FN because they make "The best" and that's the kind of thing he is into. Very concerned with image and being able to show off what he has.

This is complete guesswork on my part, but if I were to make an assumption of what the moai head means in this context:
      >stony-faced
      >Adjective
      >Showing no (or little) expression of emotion; poker-faced.
So trying not to react to something, in this case the absurdity of increasingly old/obsolete vehicles.

I think these would fetch a pretty nice price in a western country, given that they're Soviet copies of Ford trucks from the 20s, admittedly built in the 30s. For fuck's sake, they're the truck version of the Ford Model A.
If they're actually running and in decent shape, there are tons of collectors who'd want one in such good shape, given how easy it would be to restore.

  21. 1 month ago

How are these still functional? Are they just using the chassis?

      Anonymous

Trucks never really die from use they just become not worth fixing to the average person. Everything on that truck can be sourced brand new right now to repair it. There's hundreds of thousands of pre war era and WW2 era trucks in running condition in the US right now and it's probably the same anywhere they were common.

They likely pulled these out of parade/museum storage.
