How else would they advance if not for destroyed logistics and demoralized troops? Ukies weren't standing still doing nothing back in August and July, remember, they want to end the war ASAP

Unfortunately the russians have been evacuating the entire region, it's just unoccupied and potentially mined territory now. Ukies rolled into Borova basically without a fight. 10s of thousands of square kilometers liberated in one day

We can boost their Logistics, give them the ability to press their advantages.

Look. I'll be real with you. Been running Supplies to the Ukies for a couple of months and now just organising various people. Lost a good friend around Lyman, unironically some of his footage is posted now and then.
When the first kharkiv counteroffensive happened, the one directly around the city, I believed it.
When Izyum was happening, I had my doubts but TEMPO posting was fun, so why not.
As Lyman was happening, I already refused to believe what I was seeing.
      Then NE Kherson happened.
Then the new Kharkiv pincers started moving towards Svatove.

My disbelief was stretched thin around Lyman and is now completely shattered. So frick it, the Ukes will stop in Luhansk city for a short party and then they'll move to Belgorod and Krasnodar. Why not. Seems like they have enough Panzerschokolade to keep them going and that my judgement is complete fricking shit.

In the Time Magazine article the author stated that while Zalzuhny scored high marks in the academy and had a reputation for being a brave and aggressive commander in the field, back at base Ukie higher ups considered him a bit of a goofball who disdained uniform standards and clowned around with his troops more than disciplining them

Zalzuhny himself stated that part of his deception towards the Russians in the early days was making them think that “we were still in our bases, smoking weed, watching TV, and posting on Facebook”, which I thought was kinda of specific.

I've read multiple stories from "sources" close to the Kremlin that losing the war is not an option so that getting his ass kicked conventionally will result in him using nukes. Hopefully someone in the Kremlin grows some balls and offs Putin before that happens

That's the tragedy of it all. There is no one to do that. Yeah, there is political opposition. Opposition to the special military operation as a special military operation. They want full on, "gloves off" war.
It's kind of hilarious that the difference between Doves and Hawks in the Kremlin is based on whether or not to nuke Ukraine lmao.
So yeah, nah. Shit's fricked. The whole annexation thing was merely internal justification for nuclear escalation. Or rather, it was a pretty powerful statement towards the political establishment: "Now, you can't abandon ship anymore. We're all in this together. It's victory or nukes."

The fact they're trying to evacuate Svatove could mean they want to dig in and defend it as best as they can.

        Strelkov Igor Ivanovich

Information was received that the first act of the authorities of the renewed and enlarged Russian Federation in the city of Svatovo was an order to the population "to carry out self-evacuation at 72 hours."

How cute is that, isn't it?! But they could (as it was in Kupyansk or Izyum) not warn ahead of time at all! And about helping people evacuate - this is, excuse me, "a luxury unacceptable in military conditions." Sami! Everything is by yourself!

Quote from there (spelling preserved): "... Carriers break crazy prices. Today, taxi drivers did not work in Starobelsk. Everyone took out Svatovo. Those who have money."

By all accounts, the Crimean Tartars have been so loyal to Ukraine they didn't even turn traitor after annexation (getting persecuted badly as a result).

I approve. The loyal should be rewarded.

Its a controversial topic because the principle of collective guilt was applied by a nation that was with the allies, who presented themselves as the good guys fighting the bad nazi guys.

There were straight up mass murders and lynchings of regular people that may have been against nazis all along, but they had a German name and spoke German. and the Czechs lived through hell under the nazi occupation, so the masses were not interested in reason, they needed to vent their hate.

Pure dark side shit, and a pretty shameful moment in the nations history.

Evry now and then some populist piece of shit politician brings it up again because hate is an easy political tool.

I cannot remember the specifics, but Slavic languages in general have a lot more poetic and morphological funtime ways of calling people c**ts.

Like each gender has it's own distinct way of calling someone an idiot, and these can be morphed to imply things about that person based on simple phonetic changes.

I'm the last person to fall for the whole nook bullshit. Never be afraid of the Russian sub-animal and all that.
But we have to understand one thing: There are ways for the regime to stomach the loss of Zaporizhia and Kherson Oblasts. There are much tougher ways to sell the loss of LNR / DNR.
The moment Crimea is threatened, nukes are on the table. And more dangerously, most Russians furiously support the Crimean annexation - even those against the current war. I'm not saying this to scaremonger. It is how it is.
If I were the Ukies, and if my military was completely successful in the field, I'd threaten Crimea and use it as a bargaining chip to get the other areas back and recognized as eternally Ukrainian territory. The vermin-infested Crimean peninsula is simply not worth the headache - at best demand a local demilitarisation with the exception of the black sea fleet or something.

If Ukraine choses to pursue Crimea, the tiny semblance of rationality and sanity that's left in the Kremlin will immediately evaporate and the chimps (sorry for the comparison, you're pretty based chimp-bros) will start throwing shit everywhere.

Unless Russia somehow unfrick's itself, the result would eventually be the same. Whatever poor morons they send into those areas would eventually get slaughtered just like their predecessors.

Russia is currently facing something they honestly haven't seen since WWII, which is a well supplied and motivated enemy that happens to be surprisingly cunning. Their systemic problems of corruption and ancient Soviet doctrines are a recipe for the disaster we are currently witnessing. No amount of troops can solve this.

Numbers are fuzzy there. I don't think it is very big. A brigade of militia maybe. Most of the foreign volunteers ended up in those "independent" freebooting filibuster units that don't keep official records and only nominally obey the chain of command.

They figured out that opening up your country as a shooting gallery is a bad idea. The ones that showed up with a command structure got folded in (Dudayev, Free Russia, Ichkerian, etc). The rest formed little platoon and company sized units and attached themselves to Uke units on an ad-hoc basis.
Honestly, the Ukrainians don't need manpower. They have tons of willing volunteers waiting to join in their own country. What limits them is lack of the officers and cadre to staff the command, specialist, and leadership roles.
Qualified vollys want to join but few have the language skills to integrate into the larger whole so they get turned away. AFU thinks it is better to just do it all in-house.

                >AFU thinks it is better to just do it all in-house.
They aren't wrong, this whole conflict is just going to give their army lots of experienced officer candidates, the issue is the time for giving them formal officer training means they need to pull people out of fighting.

                Anonymous

The big crunch for staff was in the very beginning. They have the ball rolling now with troop rotations, officer/NCO training (abbreviated), battlefield promotions, and whatnot. They have already assembled 15 or so new combat brigades out of reservists. I don't think we are done seeing the AFU grow either. It just takes time to absorb all of the people who want to fight.

Yeah, I imagine that after the war Belarus is going to have some big fricking problems with these very experienced and well equipped Ukraine war vets causing insurrections

        >Ukraine is not going to attack Belarus.
They would not attack. They will fricking "liberate" it and keep their army there to ensure democracy. Meanwhile, Ukrainian businesses, schools, and so on will come along and in 5-7 years after Ukrainian brainwashing, Belarus gonna fall into their hands.

          >implying poland and ukraine would not work together to train and arm Belarussian opposition and dissidents who were already forced to leave or may have leave now
          >implying they aren't already doing this
With Russia greatly weakened I bet you a revolution will occur in Belarus within 5 years or less.

Revolution is fine. Annexation by Ukraine is bad.
And if it gonna happens there will be a potentially new player on the global stage which gonna replace Russia. And it is super bad, coz Ukraine knows how to fight now and has the hunger for growing muscles.
