>Machine gun has a scope >Sniper
Yeah nah you frickin' c**t, it's a frickin' machinegun, inn'it?
The ideal range for a machinegun is between 300 and 1200 meters.
The longest sniper shot in the world was with an M2 Browning machine gun, perhaps the Maxim is in semi-auto or maybe he's using the scope as a spotter so he can lay down suppressing fire.
I don't think the Maxim has semi auto mode, it's a really slow firing rate though.
If you lightly press the trigger you can get one round off at a time.
Putting optics on gun does not turn it into a sniper.
Krauts put the bipod close to that location with MG 08/15 in World War 1 and it turned the gun into a teeter totter, so it probably has some stability issues. Also the "suppressor" seems so small, that it more likely intended to act as a flash hider.
Due to recoiling barrel adding mass into it might also cause problems, although that could probably be fixed by adjusting recoil spring in fusee to bit tighter setting.
Compared to modern machine guns that is very heavy and rather complicated to operate, but make a useful weapon for harassment fire and such and certainly better than no machine gun at all.
>I don't think the Maxim has semi auto mode, it's a really slow firing rate though.
Correct - it does not have semi-auto mode. But if you rack the loading handle only once it fires just a single cartridge - making it single shot, that was apparently used for zeroing the gun. Typical theoretical rate of fire for Russia Maxim M1910 was/is around 600 / minute.
Typical mode of operation seems to be short bursts, which I suppose makes sense.
M2 was used for this particularly by Hathwiener but the M2 also has a very high degree of inherent accuracy and helped achieve the longest ranged sniper kill then recorded. The Maxim isn't very accurate by the standards of HMGs but I'd be interested to see if a scope and suppressor would enhance its overall combat effectiveness nonetheless.
It probably doesn't need to be that accurate. I'd imagine with all the urban fighting going on right now most of their shots are within a few hundred yards, so a maxim is good enough.
The ukies have been putting maxims to good use as trench machine guns too. I think they really are better than a lot of the modern ones for that role.

That record was broken like 7 times during GWOT with anti-material rifles, mostly TAC-50s.
Given the Ukrainian government's propaganda track record I'm going to press x to doubt.
ukies convert HMGs into sniper versios, I saw th m scoped many times

Sounds like something from that Battlefield 1 computer game >le maxim machine gun covered in gadgets >bipod, suppressor, optic, gold plated skin >zippy movement around map, dolphin dives and bunnyhops.

Also, suppressing a Maxim is very kino.

Info on the Ukranian kill there? Surprised the geography supports it being so flat.
A Ukrainian sniper allegedly shot a Russian soldier from 1.68 miles away with a 14.5x111mm Snipex rifle

No it wasn’t moron. .50 BMG is a cartridge, it’s not specific to the M2.
It was, back in Nam you moronic newbie Black person.
The record held for decades.
Carlos Hathwiener held the record for like 40 years with a scoped M2
>what are you bringing on your sniper op?
>suppressing fire as a backup plan
The word is "was" anon.
BMG stands for "Browning Machine Gun". It was designed to be fired from the M2 for over half a century.
It was a Macmillan TAC-50 (chambered in .50 BMG)

Mega based.
I'd still wear the ear pro tho
Didn't troops in Vietnam do this with m2's?

HNNNNNNNGGGG
At least post the video
Why would suppress a belt feed mg? That thing is gonna be fouled up in like one belt
Harder to locate based on sound and kills muzzle flash. Its gonna get hot as frick and fouled, but there are advantage in it.
>Its gonna get hot as frick and fouled
They are developping suppressors for this purpose, using new manufacturing methods, materials, forced-air air cooling system...
>Delta P
>Radical Defense
Delta P
When its got ya, its gotcha!
I seriously doubt a Maxim is going to jam, even with the extra gas. Those things are metronomes

You clearly have never seen what that game looks like at all.
It's a perfectly reliable gun. Just heavy as frick because it's water cooled.
>precision shooting with HMGs
why wouldn't it work?
Wasn't the first suppressor made by Maxim?
Maxim's son, not him
