the shadow matches those boxes behind it in terms of where the light source is coming from, main issue seems to the watermark looking odd over the plane.

It looks basically the same. This isn’t saying much given that the satellite camera was made for ants but I can conclude that the plane isn’t a charred husk
maybe some shrapnel hit it though

Do you think they have been smart enough to cover the painting with this net hangar?

You can see that in the first picture the shadows extend directly towards the top of the frame from the plane and the objects nearby, in the second they extend up and left. This is most visible around the tail of the aircraft. In short, unless someone is painting new shadows before every satellite overflight, it isn’t painted on the ground. There is the possibility that it is a 3d decoy, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen them use 3d decoys of planes so far

i legit am not seeing the shadow move on the plane at all. and also you can see the surface of the road through the decoy, particularly the rubber markings

you need to look at the rear of the su-57
in the first pic the shadows are almost entirely going behind it and very slightly to the left in the second pic the shadow is noticeably more towards the left and you can see this both on the box to the right of it and the su-57 itself

Look at the shadow around the tail of the plane where it is clearest, it moves too

The shadow has definitely changed under the right wing.

        Replace Laos with Russian military

          >Su-57 is a waste of money and they should've spent it on building aircraft shelters, we could've had shelters for all our combat aircraft, assuming the money isn't just embezzled. Would've been enough money that we'd have had leftovers (for Laos, commonly used euphemism for reporting Russian losses, to avoid suicide by gunshot to the back of the head, in this case used as emphasis)

The “if you don’t bully them “ part, no idea
          The rest of it:
For the price of this one su57 we could have built shelters for every plane, assuming that every dollar was spent without corruption.
The Laos bit is a reference to a running “joke “
Basically discrediting the armed forces can get you prison there so it became a thing to frame criticism in terms of the military of Laos instead of Russia. It’s like adding “in Minecraft” to a questionable post in English

"It could be easily done if those money were not spent on kickback bribes or outright stolen(he says "пиздить", which is 1.profanity, and machine translation is skittish about profanity 2.can mean both " to beat someone up" or "to steal", so google got confused here)."
And substitute "laos" with "russian armed forces"(it's a meme-y way of avoiding "discrediting armed forces" charges, no idea how effective it actually is), as already said.

After the argument that making protective shelters would be more cost effective than losing planes, for the bulling part I guess he means the Russian Ministry of Defense is making demands and punishing their own when they fail rather than try to make solutions in a sensible and coordinated way.
The mention to Laos comes because it's become a meme among Russians blogger to report bad news as if they pertained the Laotian airforce because criticising Russia's is forbidden.

        >Of course if you don't "embezzle the finances" along the way and don't give out kickbacks.
He uses the slang name "raspil", which is both a noun and has multiple verb forms like "raspilit", "raspilivat" and even "raspil" itself kek. This same work is technically could be translated literally as "cutting (into parts)". The main meaning behind this is that any sort of work or project is just a way to embezzle money through corruption, nobody cares about the actual result. Something might be done, but the pricing will be overinflated to shit with no real reason, but even that's not guaranteed. The whole project could be started just for the sake of getting that financing. For example, replacing curb stones in Moscow every couple of months is a good example of a "raspil", it's done just to constantly allocated overinflated budget to bullshit work, having your own contractors siphon off the money.

        >And there would still be some left for russia / russian army
They use Laos as replacement name for russia / russian army to try to avoid issues with the law about "discrediting the army". Kinda like saying "in minecraft".

I really don't understand how they don't actually hide their aircraft. In my country in northern Europe I know we have more hidden and/or armored hangars for our fighters than we have actual planes. If you'd run even a basic napkin cost/benefit calculation it just makes sense. You could even have decoy hangars built for laughably cheap.

    >The Silent Hunter uses an electrically powered fiber optic laser and according to one Poly official, has a maximum power that is between 30 and 100 kilowatts and a maximum range of four kilometers.[1] Although it is primarily designed to search, track, and destroy low-flying drones, it is powerful enough to "ablate" or penetrate five 2 millimeter steel plates at a range of 800 meters or a single 5 millimeter steel plate at 1000 meters. [1]The sheer bulk of the Silent Hunter prevents its use on an aerial platform.[2]
    >The Silent Hunter has been used by Saudi Arabia to guard against Houthi drones and missiles.[3] So far, eight systems have been spotted and are used in conjunction with truck mounted 3D TWA radar optimized for detecting low flying drones.[4]
    >In November 2022, a variant of Silent Hunter in service with the Air Force was unveiled at the Zhuhai Airshow. It can operate alone or be used as a part of a network.[5]

It really is amazing how god-awful Russian AD is in general, particularly SHORAD and anti-UAV measures. It hasn't gotten much flash in the MSM beyond the occasional "[insert country] is using LASERS now, isn't that cool?" headline on slow news fays but looking at various projects seems like literally everyone else saw this coming decades ago and has been preparing for exactly this kind of shit.

Personally I'm wondering what the meta is going to be when laser-based systems reach maturity and you'll see things like MQ-9s providing anti-drone/mortar/etc. overwatch and defense from miles away while being able to swat down smaller SAMs, MANPADS and AAMs; are we going to go back to anti-aircraft batteries because they're the only projectiles fast enough to avoid getting lased? Are we going to have anti-laser HARMs that are designed to record the initial hit and then disperse little baby missiles that independently target the laser? The mind boggles.

        Anonymous

        >how god-awful Russian AD is in general
proper AD requires high readiness, a lot of coordination, and lots of training and maintenance. And Russia sucks at all those.
That's why despite having all those military doctrine books and the means to do proper combined arms, they still default to moronic recon by suicidal human waves and artillery spam like they're still in WW2

          Anonymous

I meant more in the way of not seeing which way the wind was blowing and/or not preparing for it. I know their doctrine and procurement is a mess but like I said the shift towards both lasers and cheap drones hasn't exactly been either subtle or concealed (hell, they even have first-hand experience from Syria) and has been going on for years but AFAIK the Russians have deployed zero (0) lasers in the current war. I wouldn't expect them to be either effective or prevalent but I can't remember ever seeing one ANYWHERE. Not as a claimed Ukranian kill, not video from Russian forces, not even scuttlebutt on social media. That's what I think is odd.

Especially given that the targets aren't refineries, factories or similar large civilian infrastructures : we are talking about one of Russia's most recent aircraft, parked inside a military base.
Given how many such attacks have already been happening and how long it's been, that airfield should have be brimming with AA defenses.

It's one thing to be lazy because you didn't know better and could afford the losses anyway.

    - disintergration of Ukraine in its current state, with revolution and returning of Yanukovich or anything like that. Ukraine openly takes Russia side, with common military, common market et cetera. Similar to Belarussia but even less independent.
