What's the strongest shotgun action/barrel in existence? Like, the Ruger No.1 of 12 gauges. I specifically want this in order to launch dumb shit down the barrel at ludicrous velocities without worrying about pressure spikes, like carriage bolts turned into APFSDS, or shells full of used drill bits. Do not question my logic; this is purely for the lulz.
Look up the pressure testing thing for the 870 that tom roster did about a decade ago
>In our testing the Remington performed rather poorly. Whereas the Mossberg 590A1 survived three thousand rounds of abuse in our trials and kept kicking. The Remington 870 we were using had a catastrophic failure at round 298. ...this time the firearm failed at 340 rounds with a catastrophic failure and damage to the receiver. The Remington was removed from trials.
WAS IT A SOROS Remington 870?
maverick 88
The 88 is amazingly robust, but the 590a1 is thicker.
870 with a 3.5" magnum chamber will be just about indestructible.
Actually, shit, the answer is probably just a cheap single-shot break-action 12g with a 3.5" chamber.
Close
But 10-Gauge is the answer
>But 10-Gauge is the answer
It is not.
OP asked for the strongest action. SAAMI spec for 10ga is 11,000 psi. Meanwhile most sizes of 12ga are 11,500 psi and 3-1/2in specifically is 14,000 psi. A modern 3 1/2in 12ga will be built stronger than the alternatives.
My guess is the Benelli Nova series. Steel receiver encased in thick polymer. I have one and it seems rock solid
Also has a 3-1/2” chamber
I also have one, it feels overbuilt but of course cant tell for sure until tested
You can have a falling block in 12 gauge, just saying. Also, if it’s single shot, just lathe out a 12.4mm smooth hole in a 4 inch bar of steel, and drill a super tiny hole in the closed in to run a super tiny fuse. Pour powder in the tube, load your dumb drill bits and rocks, and touch it off with a big lighter.
Please weld mounting rails all over that bar and attach accessories. Film yourself from multiple angles when you test it.
The 4 inch bar should be at least 18 inches long for legal reasons. It’s a bullpup by design. The bar should be heavy enough to handle a great deal of recoil. I can’t think of anything that would go wrong.
Muzzleloaders are antiques that don't require the minimum 18" barrel. You can buy fucking 20-gauge howdah pistols online and have them shipped to your house.
>just lathe a half inch hole over 18"
guess how i know you've never run a lathe
Not that anon, but you can run gun drills in a manual lathe easily, you just need to rig up a sufficiently high pressure coolant pump. I've had to do that on multiple occaisions working in a machine shop. Though why you'd bother doing that for making a meme cannon when you can buy a barrel blank and plug the breech is beyond me.
>launch dumb shit
Isn't that what the Can Cannon is for?
A Remington 870. Pretty hard to break anything on that gun with normal use.
pardner pump. mine was $150
My guess would be something like an A-Bolt 12GA
Some of the guys playing with the 12 gauge from hell were using savage 210 shotguns. Seemed to work alright for them
Greener 12g Martini falling block action
Why? 12gauge is low pressure retard.
Beretta DT11, it's lockup is like a bank vault. There is a reason why Olympians use them, the put like 1000 rounds a week through their gun.
Any other answer is retarded and gay
This guy goes into detail about this kind of thing.
Remington 870. Even in the case of destruction, the receiver is still a single block of forged and milled steel.
The FABARM STF-12 is proofed to stupid levels if I recall correctly.
No love for side by side?
While strong, it's not the strongest by a large margin, I think most people were trying to give technical answers.
You can get a Thompson encore in 12 gauge…. That’s probably stronger than a standard break action 12 gauge since it’s meant for fuckhuge rifle rounds with different barrels…
>OP asks techincal question
>everyone just responds with the poorfag shotgun they own.
