Initial UK order in the 90s was around 1000. No idea how much they have now or how many ukraine were sent

          Anonymous

They got a few high-hundreds, somewhere between 600-800. I recall hearing that the Bongs intend on replacing Storm Shadow by 2030 or so, so I wouldn't be surprised if they give Ukraine a non-insignificant amount over time.

It's about 800/900, UK has been using Storm shadow in theatres like middle East.

Before 2014 there were rather big community of electoengineers in the city. Moreover there were some productions for export to Asia.
But as far as I know almost everyone left during 2014-2015 shitshow. And all the production plants were stolen by Russian, so they should be empty, or at least there is zero production power now.
So your post can be an unironical truth.

so wait, more than likely it was SS strike but those morons needed 110% "proof" for vatnik viewers what it was evil anglo-saxon missile so they just made fake fragment of it with fake inscription?

      Anonymous

who knows, it looks a bit contrived to me as a moron but maybe the parts do have that engraving

        Anonymous

but this part makes no sense, it has a batch number and date imprinted onto it, so why would they need to state its for 'storm shadow use only' when the plate was printed specifically for this missile

          Anonymous

That does look a bit like a pylon attachment point/adapter with the hole on top. Then it makes sense to stamp "storm shadow only" if the adapter is ukie Su-24 on one end and NATO mil-std 1533 on the other end for the Storm Shadow. That way it could be like "hey don't sling HARMs/JDAM off this adapter we only programmed it for Storm Shadow".

            Anonymous

That makes perfect sense remembering the many people who handle such parts. Weapons load crews especially need to be sure.

but this part makes no sense, it has a batch number and date imprinted onto it, so why would they need to state its for 'storm shadow use only' when the plate was printed specifically for this missile

The French and Bong ones are very slightly different right
Might just be an attempt at dissuading one using the others parts by accident during manufacturing.

          Anonymous

          >so why would they need to state its for 'storm shadow use only' when the plate was printed specifically for this missile
because the guy bolting it onto the plane isn't going to look up the batch number. If it's being engraved, might as well add some idiot proofing.

The NSN comes back as UK origin multipurpose guided missile structural component. It’s likely used in more than one type of missile. Other than that idk

why use the ADM-160 MALD if you are going to use a balistic missile?
the decoys are only uselful to assorb fire if they travel at the same speed and altitude as the target they are meant to protect, balistic missiles would take over air breathing targets in ground to air engagements

          Anonymous

I don't have a narrative to put in their heads I just have the fact that storm shadows don't leave high altitude contrails like whatever did the attack did. I don't consider "well they SHOULD have done X" to be a coherent counterargument and this hilariously bad fake makes me doubt it even more

          Anonymous

Nah they have funnier uses you make them look like the enemies aircraft when you do standoff strikes to they think its returning aircraft.
They assume its a friendly patrol returning letting it through then in the future get paranoid and more likey to shoot at returning friendlies.

          Anonymous

Well, since it's funny to fuel minority opinions, consider this - a lot of witnesses reported a sound like the approach of an aircraft and a whistles like the descent of an unpowered bomb. So maybe it wasn't Storm Shadow, it was some MALDs covering for Mig-s carrying JDAMs

Storm Shadow is a turbojet. You can hear it coming. (Though not for long.)

              Anonymous

MALD is also powered by a turbojet, we have no way of knowing which was heard.

Was it even Storm Shadows they sent? I thought they sent the Saudi variant? Remember, the missile is just a variant of a French missile they worked on together and there is like 4 further variants after that.

I don't think there's been any details about which variants got sent, we'll only be able to speculate based on what targets they hit.
