Hard armour only works against fast things like bullets.
Pre smokeless powder armour needed hard and though armour, aka highly deformable and hard enough to break points.

A composite of hide glue-fibers-sand could work but it would be too heavy.

Yes, it's possible, and has even been done, although all the examples I know of are purely ceremonial.

Sure. It would be retarded, and all of your friends would make fun of you for not just using one of many lighter, or more effective (or both, for most of them) designs, but there's nothing stopping you.

Get out there and knap some flint, homosexual. Post results.

No because it would weigh a gorillion pounds. Grugg don't need armour anyways. Grugg use rock and smash. Grugg win.

yes, look up native american gorgets and you basically have a lamellar/scale plate there. but why you would want stone armor when wood works just as well and has more historical examples is beyond me.

    Yes, but it would suck.

Stones are heavy, and would do nothing at all against clubs, which were very common. In short, they're a shit material for armor.
Now, you'd have animal glue, and animal hides. A buff coat, a jerkin, some kind of leather "lino"thorax mayhaps... stuff some hay or wool under there as padding, add strips of wood or carved wooden disks to protect against cuts and thrusts, and you should be pretty good.

On second thought, there's wooden and bone lamellar armor.
