the stanag mag compatible version is fricked because the magwell is the same dimensions as the original, get one with real mags and it's worth it, the nato mag version blows
The nato version that uses stanag mags is fine. Trigger isn't anything special but is fine also. The only real problem with the rifle is the price tag. Everything else about it is great.
Drop the cope, the Aug mags aren't expensive, are better mags and the rifle us objectively superior in the configuration. Buying a $1700 rifle to avoid buying $200 of mags is poor behavior.
>Is this the power of Austrian autism?
Isn't it crazy how profoundly Austrians shaped the world? Hitler, Mozart, Luger, Glock, Steyr-Mannlicher, AUG/Scout, Rocketry, Porsche, Red Bull and if you oversimplify it, in some twisted way you can trace back both world wars to Austria in obvious and more subtle ways. Absolutely insane autists and Faustian Ubermensch.
The stock non-nato aug is alright, but it is a way better gun if you get the 2020 sear for the trigger >it’s not drop safe!!!!
The stock aug isn’t drop safe and if your dropping rifles with the muzzle pointed towards you or someone else that’s your fault
They're kind of simultaneously overrated and underrated.
It's a very high quality rifle, and people who own them tend to love them but it is also an early bullpup without some of the innovations that more modern bullpups have (such as better triggers). It is also very expensive, so as a purchase option it doesn't make sense on any practical level. Instead, it's the type of gun you buy because you think it's really cool and you are passionate about this design regardless of price or practicality.
As far as being underrated, there are a lot of sour grapes haters who don't own one and talk shit about it being outdated, or just being something other than an AR-15. They have a point from the perspective of practicality, but as said above that's the wrong direction from which to approach buying one. In terms of it being straight up bad, that's just pure hyperbole spouted by insecure people who hate it when other people like things that they don't like.
I really like mine. An AR-15 is better, but it's a good gun. Reliable and accurate. I've got the gas thing for the suppressor setting. I've got a warcomp for my Socom Mini 2, but I don't want to get rid of my tulip flash hider. Wat do?
I have a lot of cool raifus but my AUG is my favorite
Mine takes pmags and never had trouble with it.
Wafflemags are cool but I like the logistics benefit of using common mags
I use the Steyr 3x optic

This is the correct answer OP
It’s pretty excellent rifle. It’s my bedside gun
It's probably underrated
It's good looking
its cool so who cares
I like mine

I love you types of anons. Can never just simply answer a question, always have to try and sound superior.
Small amounts of trivia on the internet in their particular flavor autism is really all they have to offer.
I see them all the time across this site. Probably compensating for something irl.
They all look the same on the gun. Wondering if they're ultimately worth it. If I want to rice out a bullpup it'll probably be a VHS2 instead.
Yes. If it came with the option to have a barrel in 1:7 twist, have chrome lining, or be longer than 16", then maybe it would be appealing.
The nato version that uses stanag mags is fine. Trigger isn't anything special but is fine also. The only real problem with the rifle is the price tag. Everything else about it is great.
Gives up the bolt release in exchange for getting to use worse mags.
That I already have many of that work fine.
Drop the cope, the Aug mags aren't expensive, are better mags and the rifle us objectively superior in the configuration. Buying a $1700 rifle to avoid buying $200 of mags is poor behavior.
Never said they were expensive. Yes, stanag mags are inferior. Who would use them?
Impulse bought an aug at a gun show and It's starting to rival my sr-15 as top raifu. Is this the power of Austrian autism?
Post it with timestamp
Money that went towards the aug was going to go for a nightforce atacr.

Why did they suck big dick during the first world war then?
You do realize they were a tiny minority in their own empire, right? Which makes all of their achievements even more impressive.

What side does it eject on?
Whichever side you want
One of the best rifles I own.
This is this is the patrician’s set-up. The AUG is perfect with the short rail and a red dot. Really fast, and compact, like a p90 but practical...

Love me AUG. Simple as.
Just installed the upgraded trigger springs too. I can’t help but CONSOOOOOM aug parts.
Ya ever gonna paint her?
No I like the FDE, although the blue mag release does look bad with brown
>save up to buy an aug
>put Vortex Poorgay optic on it
disgusting

Honestly I don't think it is overrated. It's a solid rifle and I have no complaints.

MDR
Ha!
I agree, but you gotta pay to be cool.
I think it's too expensive.
NO! I LOVE MY F-88!!!
