They were superior back when the alternative was USGI mags, but PMAGs exist now.
That said, the NATO stock is still bad because no bolt release paddle and only having one transfer bar makes the trigger worse and heavier.
Go get your micrometer and start comparing thickness of the mags. Check the lips, sides and spine. I've done this for pmag, AUG, AK-74 and SIG 55x mags. The pmags were the thinnest and most flimsy.
Your assertion that the pmag is better than the AUG mag is unfounded. They all mogged the pmag.
On the topic of bullpups I decided to spray paint my gun. I'm thinking about sprinkling on some hay and hitting it with a darker brown but I kinda like this two tone look already. What do you guys think, leave as is or add a third color and a more advanced pattern?
Fricked up the opposite side by laying the paint on way too thick. Decided to mulligan. On an unrelated note, turpentine smells really nice for an extremely harsh industrial chemical

I take it this is your first painted rifle? Not bad but clearly amateur. On a scale of painted guns I've seen it's a solid 6/10 job. No frickups but try to give it more of a pattern next time

Maybe he was going for the Rhodesian look.

No, at least not intentionally. Colors turned out much more muted than on a typical rhodie paint job. Less stylish but more functional
Just bought an AUG, actually. Thought they were selling me a NATO, turns out I've inadvertently joined the wafflebros. Didn't notice until I got home and noted that there was a slide release lmao

The more stuff you do to the AUG's trigger, the lighter it gets. The best upgrade for the NATO stock, besides a ballistic trajectory into the nearest rubbish bin where it belongs, is Steyr's red FCG springs, which bring its pull weight into line with the waffle stock at any given level of fiddling.
VHS >moronic name >Nitride barrel >Full ambi >More rail space than the Trans-Siberian railroad >Out of the box suppression >Looks like a cyberpunk FAMAS >STANAG only, G36 magwell not available but if it were it'd be an easy swap >no aftermarket >Frick you LOP at its shortest setting
AUG >Have to buy a gas plug for suppression >More aftermarket triggers and other parts >supposedly reintroduced CL barrels >OG spacegun >Option for either OG waffle mags or STANAGs (can't be swapped for either) >less rail space, restricted more thanks to the moronic sling swivel placement >Have to buy a replacement bolt for left hand ejection >Less insane LOP
If it were my money I'd go VHS, but the AUG is really cool so you wouldn't be making a mistake with either
>Nitride barrel
Yeah, I was assuming that this was going to be the case for both of them for the foreseeable future. I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that they might be chrome lining the AUG barrels again. Do you have a source? My conspiracy theory that gun manufacturers (even KAC) no longer have any principles or self respect and will all switch to nitriding, probably within the decade.
I've only heard about it in rumors, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if its a marketing lie made up by steyr shills to sell more AUGs. On my quest to find an answer I found an incredibly funny reddit thread that's pure distilled copium
Okay. I'm most interested in getting 20" CL barrels for them, which the 40th anniversary STG 77s have. The guns about $3500 at the very least though. I guess the nitrided barrels aren't so expensive that just swapping them out would be a problem (about $475 on Bereli).
Also, the cost of buying all of the aftermarket parts 3D printed by redditors to fricking modernize the AUG is pretty insane. And I hear that the flash from the piston under NODs is really bright.
The total cost of 3D-printed Reddit parts you need to modernize the AUG is $0
GHW FLEX swivel, CD case deflector, OEM suppressor gas plug and reduced-power FCG springs
rifle is fine
>moronic name
I appreciate, in a way, the fact that this is true whether you're talking about the HS Produkt Video Home System Triple or the Springfield Armory xXx_Hellion_69420_xXx
Neither gun will let you set it up as easily as an AR and the AUG looks cooler, has a longer track record, a broader and deeper aftermarket, a trigger adjustable for pretravel with common hand tools, etc.
I need it to shoot 6.8 TVC yes
Need night vision capabilities. The optic sucks for NODS, the rails suck for laser/illuminator placement.
ditch the integrated optic and go railed
20" barrels exist and they're ribbed for your pleasure too
multiple options exist for case deflectors nowadays
the french and portuguese languages deserve to be purged from this earth
Can I get it in .308?
can you even afford .308?
NGL, it looks gay and shit.
I need the bareel to stick out more so it could be used like a sex toy
It looks vaguely female, shapewise
Let me guess you nee-
>*shits pants and dies*
i am left handed butthole
fricking freak
You should be exterminated
>verification not required
You vill eat ze brass
The brass to the head builds character
t. fellow demonically possessed individual
Yes, I need something that doesn't have magazine in compĺetely moronic ĺace.
yes. I need it to look exactly like the one in Die Hard for that 80's kino
> nato mag
poor choise. the AUG mags are superior.
MNU vibes

Am I a heretic for liking the AUG PMAG more than the waffle? Texture is so much nicer.
Its only defect is aesthetics; in every other respect it's strictly better.
yes give me two
>NATO stock
>carry handle optic
>single point sling
>"mud"
yeah
I need it to be chambered in 308
i hate how gun stores online say they have the scoped version in stock but they're just using the wrong UPC code.
Steyr sells the optic separately now instead of it coming with the gun
Yeah I need a gun with a trigger that isn't mushy shit after paying $1800.
>16"cuck
>you need more
Unironically yes.
>my personality is my AUG's long barrel
Actually looks much better.
Actually less, A1 or bust
>but the sight sucks
Don't care, its the coolest AUG
Somehow… you sneedmore

Nice. Depends on your terrain I guess. I think a darker brown would fit most places. I like using a net of some sort for a pattern
Fricked up the opposite side by laying the paint on way too thick. Decided to mulligan. On an unrelated note, turpentine smells really nice for an extremely harsh industrial chemical
Looks good man, show us final product when finished.
Thanks for the words of encouragement, I was genuinely worried I fricked up somewhere and didn't tape properly

Is the donut of death optic actually good? Always wondered this.
>For the time
kinda
>Now
No. FOV is painfully tiny. Still idiot proof and durable, but most anything else is better.
I prefer AUG PARA.
Unpup it
bros im finally back in the club
thinking of putting a primary arms 3x micro on it
PA 3X was my first optic on it, its a good choice
tldr on the chart?
I thought about pulling my acog off another gun
maybe ill get the 3x to replace it

Congrats bro, personally I'm waiting on their 5x micro. Supposedly it's gonna have TA31-tier FOV in a package nearly half the size
I hope those leaked specs are actually real. Trijicon needs to up their game.
I still don't understand why the VHS has an adjustable stock when it's *so* long even fully collapsed.
I was going to say Croats are supposed to be something like 6'2" on average but apparently not, 5'8". Still, 7th tallest on average
VHS2 or AUG A3M1?
The VHS2 seems like a more modern design, better ability to attach accessories, much better suppressor host.

Personally I'm angry at the Croatian name. Not only does it not play tapes it can't even fit standard size VCR tapes, the fricker only fits betamax
