So my grandfather passed recently and was an avid gun owner, shooter and reloader, having done all three for decades. When I shot with him years ago it was his reloaded ammo. Now I'm looking at possessing supposedly 1000+ rds of 5.56, some for a very old lever action and who knows what else. Problem is the reloads are newer, and there's no telling how "there" he was mentally. I believe he shot fairly recently with others and no blown off hands. Do I trust the old man's work? Visual inspection and weighing the rounds good enough?
frick ya grandmudda
She went before him
Never. If I don't shoot them I was thinking of selling them on like gb with the caveat of the details of it all
I would do that since all his reloading tools are available, but unfortunately I don't have the space for it all
If you sell them, it's probably best to mention that you're not the one that reloaded it and don't know about it's condition
>with the caveat of the details of it al
Oh I know. And I won't be israelite-y and sell them near full price
Have you opened a sample of his ammo to see how within specs his reloads are?
>Never. If I don't shoot them I was thinking of selling them on like gb with the caveat of the details of it all
How legally problematic could this be (buyer's gun blows up and he loses fingers)?
Even if it's mentioned, selling reloads of unknown specs and quality sounds pretty risky (at least to me as German).
Yea they are probably all fine to shoot
Just throw em all out
Worse case scenario, get a bullet take-apart tool and pool the powder and reload it again.
>pool the powder and reload it again
Are you literally moronic anon?
what gaygit, never heard of mexican match ammo?
May be risky shooting them, but the components are still there for reloading yourself
>1000+
so 3 good range trips worth.
maybe not even that lol
father and I are going out and shooting all the guns we're getting from him
>father and I are going out and shooting all the guns we're getting from him
You're a lucky man. Both of my grandfathers died before I was born.
I will buy them off you
Just donate everything to your local police.
Naw, I roast pigs
weighing with a good enough scale could let you know if they are consistent, but best practice would be to pull them apart for components and redo them yourself.
Never shoot reloads you never did yourself. As that other anon said, breaking them down for parts and using them would be best.
if I had a close family member pass away, the ammo he reloaded would be precious. I would personally enjoy it, at a small risk of course. Nothing good in life is without risk, even shooting itself.
And at the end, you'll come to find out how good of a reloader he was. You owe it to him. If my grandson threw out my handloads post mortem, I'd be seetherolling in my grave.
that's what's going to end the NRA eventually
old gays dying off
young gays are too busy playing vidya and watching porn to go outside, target shoot and hunt.
Good, frick the NRA, they don't do shit
Love them or hate them, they're the biggest pro-2A lobbyist. The only one with enough members/voters to really scare candidates.
And then when new laws are on the block the NRA rolls over and lets their balls get stepped on
Checked, but the NRA does unintentionally do one thing, they act as a lightning rod for anti-gun morons to focus on through sheer perceived size while the actually useful ones actually get the work done.
Yes, when Tyrone shoots up a street corner so he can sell crack there instead, it's all the NRA's fault. God I hate the fricking ~~*media*~~.
Be the bubba selling his pissing hot loads at the gunshow your grandfather wanted you to be
so accurate it hurts
Don't disgrace the memory of your forefathers. Go out and shoot it all and have fun. Like a man.
use them for your baby's gender reveal party- pack them around some tannerite
If they were your grand dads, id take 1 round of each caliber he had loaded and make a shadow box or something with them and hold on to them. The rest of em id mag dump. Best case, I got to shoot shit my grand dad loaded. Other best case, id get to be shooting with my grand dad. Either way its a win
My reloads are of the utmost quality except for my .45-70 loads which are basically heavy bullet with heavy powder charge. I only shoot them from my No.1.
Very simply. Get a stethoscope. If you hear a light rattle, he has powder. If it sounds hollow, get a puller and fill it per load data
That's moronic. A small cartridge like 5.56 can be dangerously over pressure with only a couple grains over max.
I'd 100% use them. It's not like he blown his hand off before right?
there was anon with a similar story a few months ago. the granda didn't die but he was a senile reloader. he ended up exploding his block 2 build with grandpa's pissin hot reloads.
