China literally sells guns to Americans because it makes them money. They don't want guns in China, but they like the money, so they keep selling them. It's kind of strange to think about how a communist regime is arming Americans before it's own citizens for money that isn't backed by anything.

Which ones? I ask because Chinese guns are forbiden by law in the US. The chinks were selling too many discount gats and it was fricking the local market, plus gangs were buying them.

I'm honestly surprised how well mine works. Sometimes the last shell will get hung up on the extractors but I've seen real 1887's do that. It's only the last round, guessing it's because there's not another shell under it to push it off.

Undercutting the domestic arms industry is far more important than any marginal security concerns.
Even though people complain about it and they clearly weren't passed for this reason, the GCA and the Bush/Clinton/Obama import bans have done a great deal to bolster American arms manufacturing.

One is almost solely a defense contractor (that isn't Australian, it's ultimately French) and thus has chosen the safe strategy of kissing the ring since they think the Aus civ market is negligible. Then you have companies like Oceania Precision which try their damnedest to get stuff out to people because they know the culture.

            They're not comparable.

Barrett is also mainly defense contractor but sold to civilians on principal, the parent company could get them to stop selling to civilians completely if they wanted too and it wouldn't cause that big a hit on revenue. Oceania Precision also don't sell "scary assault, airline destroying" weapons abroad so there's no political angle to it.

NIOA is a funny thing. What seems to have happened is Australian government went looking for its (essentially nonexistant gee I wonder why that is) nongovernment indigenous defence capabilities.

Found none, but kept drilling down anyway, finally got to ratbag right Katterist queenslander gun distributor. And then being typically high IQ Australians went ahead and dumped all the money on it - which was a lot. A hell of a lot, way out of proportion, crazy. Tragic. Funny. Clown world.

I assume because African warlords aren't very vocal about how they got their weapons so it's kept on down low without any knowing, while with civilians you people making videos, reviews, etc. that they bought it and it would look hypocritical and politically bad if you supported gun control in Australia while allowing Australian companies to sell guns to American civilians, at least I think that's the mindset anyways.

They probably make more from DOD sales but it was the principal that they supported civilian gun sales of their weapons and wouldn't sell to agencies like the LAPD that restricted civilian access to them (Though I'm pretty sure they sold to foreign governments where the rifles were outright banned to own by anyone but their respective militaries.)
