Well for russians or this case gayner CEO soledar and bakhmut are crucial due the salt mine and gypsum mine he wants to add to his personal war gains (around 4mil USD yearly profits) hence why he's so dead set on attacking that shit and why it's going to be painful when ukies take it back
>due the salt mine and gypsum mine he wants to add to his personal war gains (around 4mil USD yearly profits)
yeah, he totally plans to run mining operations in artillery range
no he doesn't, that's just a bullshit from a bunch of dumb western journos who don't know shit

Both of you are morons with 0 history knowledge >Muh salt mining operation in warzone
200km of tunnels 300m underground with cealings high as 30m >Unimportant location
Used both by Soviet Union and Ukraine for weapons and ammo storage. Used to supply and safely storage ammunition and weapons
3 million stored weapons and god knows how much tons of ammo and that was in 1999
I hope you morons understand importance of untouchable military depot on front line
No I’d rather you stew in your impotent rage knowing I won’t see your response and knowing your just a moronic gay who worships looser, now screen cap this so you can hoot and holler with the rest of /misc/ at it like a good monkie
There exists punctuation mark which you clearly didnt see (,) followed by text "claiming a rare victory after facing..." The sentence is split in multiple parts, grammar isnt your strong suit?

Go eat cum filled brownies
The salt mines would be incredibly useful if the entrances weren't within HIMARS' range. Otherwise, it's only got good defensive value, and it's defending Soledar, which isn't either side's real priority.
And? Rest of depots Russia uses are still in HIMARS range. Its much easier to organize logistic to 1 depot than 1000s of smaller ones
Mine also has multiple entrances and exits across city and a tourist hotel which can be used as safe barracks or hospital at front line

From what I can tell, it was originally supposed to be a delaying action by the Ukies during the Kharkiv offensive. I think the Russian Bakhmut offensive and Ukrainian Kharkiv offensive happened at the same time.
The main UAF line is Slovyansk-Kramatorsk. Siversk-Bakhmut was supposed to be a delaying operation following the fall of Severaldonuts, but it's taken the Russians 6 months to even set the conditions for a proper assault on Bakhmut itself with the push into Soledar.
In PR terms it's great - 10k town prior to the war, salt mines, an actual victory unlike pisskey.
In tactical terms it should make Bakhmut harder to supply (but not impossible, certainly easier then supplying severaldonuts).
In strategic terms it means jack shit, it lost all importance once Russians stalled on the Bakhmut-Soledar "line".
Lmao
The UAF rotated out their actual first-echelon unit from Soledar in December. 93rd Mechanised, the brigade that minced 4th GTD, had been holding the town. They got moved south into Bakhmut itself and since then it's been held by an airborne brigade.
if there is a single member of 4th GTD remaining, that frick is checking under his bed for the 93rd under his cot for the remaining years he has left (before the wet brain/cirrhosis does him a favor)
well i DO think its has some value as its a neat place and could be an Fortress. but on the other hand, it's not very difficult to bomb a mine shaft and trap everyone below
It's going to be the satanic big dicked BLACK GMO Nazi super soldiers.
Not sure what anon is refering to exactly but there's another town that was originally called New York and had its name returned rather recently
Once again, American interests are laid bare what an OPSEC failure they are
it complicates logistics for backhmut and is more favorable position overall for ruskies but on itself town doesn't have that much significanse, i mean, frontline isn't going to collapse if ukies lose it today.
it's a kind of a propaganda victory for russia tho (entire town!) and yeah it's bad for ukies but vatniks are still pretty fricking far from capturing east of ukraine.
i think ukrainians are doing severaldonuts here, they frick russians in bloody street fighting while slowly retreating from the town.
I have. The most widely sold salt here was from Soledar. Sold in the same blue and white cardboard boxes since the Soviet era. At least most other Ukrainian products are back on the shelves
Because Bakhmut was renamed during soviet times to honor some soviet homosexual only the russians give a shit about and they're salty about Ukraine's attempt to "de-communize" since they wanted to be able to steal everything themselves, and they think it's code for theft due to their own history.
Not at all important. The capture of Lyman essentially invalidated any real meaning Bakhmut or offensives in that direction meant. Svatove and Kreminna are important, Soledar isn't even 'important' by itself without capturing it's equivalent in the south and properly encircling Bakhmut, but then god damned Bakhmut isn't important.
Wagner cucks itself on this fricking thing.
They think the salt mines will save them. Ukraine probably is sentimental about them.
Right up until a glowie hands the Ukes bunker-busters.
Soledar is the key to Bakhmut, Bakhmut is the key to the twin cities of Slovyansk and Kramatorsk which themselves are the key to the entire Donbass area. But their fall would mean much more as it would also give the Russians a shot at the Ukrainian heartland.
By all accounts they are a veritable fortress though
Again, no. Soledar is "A" key. Even Bakhmut is just "A" key. Everything behind Soledar and Bakhmut is fortified. It's old news by now. You need North and South of Bakhmut taken and Bakhmut completely encircled before you even get a shot at Bakhmut.
Maybe they have delusions of being able to do it with the fresh mobilisation?
Bakhmut was important when the Russians controlled Kharkiv. But that was quite a few months ago, as it stands now it's just a very heavily fortified piece of terrain between Russia and the also heavily fortified Slovyansk-Kramatorsk line that Wagner has been tasked with taking. Girkin put it pretty well in his doompost after the Great Goodwill Gesture, Bakhmut exists in an operational shadow now but Wagner doesn't really seem to care
Bakhmut is a small crossroads, strategically its importance is insignificant due to its location. What's made it important is because this is Wagner's battle and Prigozhin is trying to set himself up as the next big thing in russian politics by cozying up to Putin and thinking he'll get the nod for successor and if not he can threaten the use of Wagner
>So how important exactly are Bakhmut and Soledar? Vatniks claim it's crucial, Ukies think it's not a biggie.
it was so valuable, ukraine was willing to risk the life of every single combat-ready man it had to take the city, failed and like some 8000 men in the process
the /k/ope going down here now is some of the most ferocious, pathetic cope ever doled out, in the existence of mankind
no matter what the u/k/raine shills say, you can literally *feel* it. they lost bad. they lost BIG, its fricking OVER for ~~*them*~~
Not as important as Kyiv, Kharkiv, or Kherson.
KKK > BS
Bakhmut means action moves to the next line of defense. Soledar means virtually nothing.
Neither is strategically critical, neither even taken still.
Well for russians or this case gayner CEO soledar and bakhmut are crucial due the salt mine and gypsum mine he wants to add to his personal war gains (around 4mil USD yearly profits) hence why he's so dead set on attacking that shit and why it's going to be painful when ukies take it back

Amazing, wsnger still didn’t take it tho
Then please explain photos and videos of them inside?
Also explain pic too, since Ukies admitted they lost it
You are clearly in denial right now

Ahhhhh no you don't. That shit doesn't even half set the conditions for an assault on Bakhmut.
The fact that people aren't just laughing at the Russians like they did with the Pisskey superfortress means it's somewhat important
>people aren't just laughing at the Russians
they do, russians are just in shill overdrive so it isn't noticeable under all the spam
>Ukies think it's not a biggie
And that's why they're refusing to retreat despite getting overrun?
If by overrun you mean still actively able to supply forces in both towns, then sure.
Okay my dude.
Try making a point that isn't false you dumb fricking Black person.
In PR terms it's great - 10k town prior to the war, salt mines, an actual victory unlike pisskey.

Considering the amount of cope that's flowing, it's probably nothing much, as the strategic implications would simply speak for themselves
Russian telegram is truly home to the stupidest, most pathetic motherfrickers on the face of the earth.
Lmao

Does Ukraine have a Presidential Unit Citation equivalent? Those motherfrickers deserve it with oak clusters.

Gave me a hearty chuckle. Imagine Ukies handpicking only the best of Nazis.
I only accept the freshest Non-GMO vine rioened Nazis

why did they put so much salt underground? Is it the commies that did it?
>apply for hand picked nazi SOF
>get rejected because I hate the VW beetle
I will try to be a better nazi.
>even in win I must cope
>speed and pressure
>speed
>it took them five monts to capture small town
Huh? Is this just some troll account making fun of Incel Slave Z?
>capture
But Russia still didn't capture Soledar
so these are the propaganda masterminds that won the 2016 election?
>Give me your toughest nazis
>/k/: Holy shit, you actually did it, you lost Soledar
>Zelensky: No I did not, but so what!? It was a fricking salt mine!
I John Mitchel from West Vriginia oblation agree that Soledar proves Rossiya's victory is inevitable and we should no longer support the Kiev Regime.
>What are you, a pacifist now?! You mulch mobiks by the fricking truckload!
>IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF INFRASTRUCTURE

Not too important, not too unimportant
Soledad isn’t important. That’s why you’ve never heard of it before.
I have. The most widely sold salt here was from Soledar. Sold in the same blue and white cardboard boxes since the Soviet era. At least most other Ukrainian products are back on the shelves
Why russians call Bakhmut by its soviet name, but refuse to do the same with Soledar (Better known as Karlo-Libknekhtovsk in 1965-1991)?
Because Bakhmut was renamed during soviet times to honor some soviet homosexual only the russians give a shit about and they're salty about Ukraine's attempt to "de-communize" since they wanted to be able to steal everything themselves, and they think it's code for theft due to their own history.
I wonder if they even know that New York, Ukraine is that little town's original name
Wait, New York is Bakhmut's original name?
Not sure what anon is refering to exactly but there's another town that was originally called New York and had its name returned rather recently
Yeah, I meant that
Because soledar is literal who amongst the towns
No one knew it even existed just two weeks ago
Not at all important. The capture of Lyman essentially invalidated any real meaning Bakhmut or offensives in that direction meant.
