That is a money pit trap and has been for a long time. Aerospace is a costly industry that needs scales of production to work . Sweden has had issues keeping in the game because of a lack of the above.

They would need something at least as good as the F-16V for anyone to give a shit about, even if they got the plane to market very fast. Really in the 8 to 12 years to get something out the bar will be higher by then.

          >Really in the 8 to 12 years to get something out the bar will be higher by then.
That’ll only affect countries who can afford to keep up in reasonable numbers. The vast majority of the world will happily buy older, cheaper last gen stuff.
With russian MIC in a scramble to fulfill their own domestic orders (and whatever resource struggle they might have) for the next few years, rising secondary MIC like SK or Turkey might get some contracts if they’re smart.
But there might be some constraints on who they sell to since one is in NATO and the other a close ally of the US.

            > The vast majority of the world will happily buy older, cheaper last gen stuff.
That’s implying that whatever Turkey produces could even compete with older stuff on a comparable cost or efficiency basis. Why buy overpriced shit from Turkey if you can buy new F-16s from the US or second hand ones from other countries? Building planes is a shitty business unless you have an established tradition or a big enough domestic market to build it off of. Long time competitors to the US like France, Russia, and Sweden are struggling to find buyers for their planes and can only keep their industry afloat with subsidies and their own domestic markets. Same goes for SK who has major domestic industry, especially when it comes to military equipment so it sorta makes sense that they can produce indigenous fighters for themselves and will try expand their sales into some neglected Asian markets (it also helps that they didn’t try to develops their own engine and are just using a US one). Turkey on the other hand has never had a historically strong aerospace industry or a particularly strong domestic demand, and its potential products are inferior to the US’ offerings but not cheaper. It was reported its KAAN jet had a greater price tag than the F-35 despite being inferior in every way. Fighter jets aren’t the same as cheap drones you can sell to African warlords and oil rich microstates, they’re high investment low return things and you can profit off of them unless you have the scale of economy to manufacture them like the US does.

              >Long time competitors to the US like France, Russia, and Sweden are struggling to find buyers for their planes

First of all, the Swedish plane doesn't exist. It's a potpourri of other systems purchased from others.

And US/France has buyers, only Russia is struggling to find buyers because of the weak performance and bad maintenance records. Even before the war, Russia couldn't provide spare parts for its planes.

Bruh. If you took out the non-American system in the F-35 you'd barely have an airframe let alone something that could turn on.

Thats the beauty of the F-35, its massive colab of Western MIC coming together to make an actual mass production Stealth Fighter and succeed where the F-22 failed.

By this logic, Sweden has veto power over the new Eurofighter Typhoon because the newer radars are based on Swedish radars. In reality that is not how that works for either the Typhoon or Gripen. Worst you could say is the Gripen relies on American turbofans.

Thats not the point. The point is that the turks will deliver because they are not subjected to US foreign export rules if they manage to develop something that does not contain western hardware or software. Something that has 80% of the capability of a F-35 at 120% the cost is preferrable to nothing at all. The swedish JAS gripen is an export failure because the US will simply forbid the sale if the us military industrial complex says no, we would rather sell these people F-35, or refurbished F-16s. That leaves only the niche too-poor-to buy american goods market to the swedes. <cue hooting hollering macaco sounds>

The americans have legalized themselves and their vassals out of a major part of the arms export market because america demands total submission to the american empire. This is also why the chinks are so dangerous, so much more dangerous than the soviet union ever was, because the chinks aim to have a full spectrum manufacturing and R&D complex that is competely independent of the american empire, enabling them to offer all kinds of products without the crippling political ties that america demands, not just military goods but also 5G and civilian high end infrastructure.

F.ex if you wish to disconnect from wall street, the federal reserve and its permanent global looting operation, the constant spying of the NSA etc, the chinks are the only real option. This is why the belt and road project is a stake aimed at americas heart. This is why I see a major war in the near future, not between the american empire and china, but between the american empire and the larger chinese customer-partners, f.ex iran.

Lol. You’re a fricking moron. You turdies have the funniest gripe with America. No shit the US doesn’t want its tech to be disseminated to whoever the frick will fork up the cash for it. The US wants to make sure its extremely advanced and efficient tech goes to loyal allies and not to equivocating morons who have their own revanchist ideas and betray US interests at every moment they get. And you’re missing the point about the aerospace industry being a money trap, sure Turkey can develop an inferior and more expensive 5th gen fighter and in 10+ years eventually field a fleet of them in the high single digits but they will have sunk 10s of billions of dollars into what is essentially a stillborn concept. They can try all they might to compete with America but they will fail and end up broke and in debt for their troubles. Like they don’t even have a domestically designed engine for their indigenously produced jet, it’s using a fricking US engine, and their eventual replacement engine is supposed to be designed in collaboration with Rolls Royce (say hello to UK export rules). More competent nations have tried to compete with the US and failed when it comes to making advanced fighter jets, Turkey’s aerospace industry is essentially a dead man walking. And you’re predictions about major war with Chinese “customer-partners” is straight up moronic. You fricking turdies have the most dogshit and reality defying worldviews.

                >More competent nations have tried to compete with the US and failed when it comes to making advanced fighter jets.
Who says Turkey is going to compete with the US in this field? Turkey's approach is different. The US has an all-around compact stealth jet doing everything. Turkey is working on 1 light fighter, 1 stealth fighter, 1 unmanned low-rcs fighter, 1 unmanned stealth bomber + UAV AEW&C for air superiority—completely different concept.

                >Turkey’s aerospace industry is essentially a dead man walking
Completely wrong, Turkey will likely sell its aircraft to other brotherly nations. I first think of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Indonesia & Azerbaijan.

                >They can try all they might to compete with America but they will fail and end up broke and in debt for their troubles.
Turkey is not bordering the US or threatening the US. Turkey is not the flag carrier of anti-Americanism. Even when threatened by the US, Erdogan backpedaled in many cases. That's why US still sells F-16 Block 70 and 1000s of AA missiles to Turkey.

I don't think that's true. You're right about scale, but I think scale matters a hell of a lot more than some ideal perfect performance metric. I think most countries will just buy jets based on popularity because the benefits of scale apply to the customer just as much as the manufacturer. F-16V would be more expensive in fly away cost than the Gripen E if they were manufactured at the same scale. Meanwhile in reality the only reason people don't buy the Gripen E and increase the scale is because the fly away cost is higher than the F-16V.

Aerospace is one of those industries where it's a very good idea to invest, even if you're not planning on building your own airplanes from the ground up, because it has second order effects on all your other industries that make them work better. It's precision manufacturing and heavy manufacturing at the same time, and the infrastructure and educated work force you need benefit other businesses and industries in the same area. The same is true of automotive, which is why Mexico has invested so heavily in automotive, which has paid off massively for them.

Not just a dozen 5-16s they get a massive upgrade package as well as AIM120D.

It's basically over for the Greek airforce until they actually get the F35 and even then unless they massively upgrade their arsenal, it might not be enough

So you want them to build new hulls for the Freedom class ships so they don't crack even though they don't crack in the first place, and you want them to build new hulls to fit a transmission despite the fact that the hull shape and size wasn't the core issue, it was the originally design high top speed.

The Freedom class already has a new transmission, btw. The class just doesn't have the same top speed anymore, which is fine because they aren't slow ships or anything in the new build.

Some people just think mindlessly shitting on the lcs is "board culture," no matter how displaced it might be from reality. There is no way to have a rational discourse with them since they are so desperate to fit in and they see that as a direct attack on their core identity as a result. It'd be more pitable if it was so frustrating how it always shuts down what could be interesting discussions.

The LCS classes, both of them, are total failures as warships. They should never have been produced. They were so bad, and American shipwrights so incompetent, that the replacement class had to be sourced abroad in Italy, and it has absolutely no similarities to the LCS.

LCS cost a lot of money because of laughable contract stipulations and changing requirements. If something breaks then it just sits broken until an approved technician takes a look at it, which usually takes months. People laugh at military readiness levels, but it's really not controversial that training your own people to do whatever maintenance they can as best as you can train them is cheaper and better than the LCS system.

The systems are also of high failure rate and often of poor functionality because the ships were honestly slapped together pretty quickly without a lot of testing. The Freedom class' towed sonar array being the best example. Despite how bad that is, the fact is that the Freedom class doesn't have wiring, electrical, or transmission problems anymore because those problems appeared a decade ago and each has had to be solved. Assuming Greece is actually going to buy and maintain the ships as they should, it shouldn't be any more expensive than any other frigate they might consider.

Runways take hours to repair if you have well equipped and competent repair teams and prepositioned materials. If you take care of weapon and fuel logistics it absolutely will be possible to conduct air operations in those circumstances. But yes, Greek air defense seems undersized and lacks lower layers so it's expected they will lose a lot of military infrastructure regardless

      > Greece and Turkey are too close for the f-35 to have a significant advantage.
Um no. F-35 will give Greece a significant advantage because of its advanced sensor suite and stealth capabilities, especially when it comes SEAD, countering the Turkish Air Force, and contesting any Turkish invasion force which will have to be amphibious in nature. Plus Greece upgraded 80+ of their F-16s to block V so really it’s not like their regular air fleet is at a significant disadvantage compared to the Turks. Plus depending on the variant of F-35 they buy they can use basically any minimally prepared surface, even on the many small Islands, as landing pads.

Turkish Bilgem and Ukroboronprom have been working on a Passive Emitter Tracking system since 2016.
Turkish ground forces received 16+2 ground units and they claim PYAS captures the broadcasts/signals (lower frequency band and upper-frequency band) of various electromagnetic energy sources on air targets with receivers located in different positions. The system can locate the target in 3D space.

Signals in the Lower Frequency Band broadcast from air targets are
          -Mode 1, 2, 3AC,
          Mode-S,
          TDL (Link 16)
          TACAN
Signals in the Upper Frequency Band originate from Radar and RF Mixers.

As far as I understand, they were able to locate a signal-emitting air target and pick it up from ground EO from a 50-kilometer distance.

When the Aselsan VHF radar appears they can also shoot at the target from greater distance.

Every single sale the US makes for the F-35 is a sale that the German/French and UK/Italian/Japan programs won't make because there's only so much money to go around from a lot of these countries. France and Sweden are unlikely to ever buy F-35 because they have their own domestic industries but Spain is the real big catch if the US can sway them, probably won't though they went for the Euro-fighter to replace their F-18s

your numbers are off, you forgot the British F-35 among other small things
      anyway, here we go:

      >existing/planned F-35 in Europe:
      Belgium - 34
      Denmark - 27
      Finland - 64
      Germany - 35
      Italy - 75
      Netherlands - 52
      Norway - 52
      Poland - 32
      Switzerland - 36
      UK - 60
      Czech Republic - 24
      Romania - 32
      Greece - 40
      >total - 563

      >existing/planned Eurofighters in Europe:
      Germany - 194
      Italy - 94
      Spain - 115
      UK - 137
      Austria - 18
      >total - 558

      >existing/planned Rafales in Europe:
      France - 180
      Croatia - 12
      Greece - 24
      >total - 216

      >existing/planned Gripens in Europe:
      Sweden - 84
      Czech Republic - 14
      Hungary - 14
      >total - 112

so we have a total of 563 F-35 and 886 modern native European fighters delivered/planned for European air forces in the foreseeable future.

doesn't include older models in service/on order too like Tornado, Mirage 2000, F-16, F-18, MiG-29, etc.

UK is considering procuring 60-80 F-35 and they have more Eurofighters than Italy. So the UK probably has the strongest air force in Europe. But yeah Italy is stronger than people tend to think, their air force and navy is pretty strong. Army not so much.

How badly could Ukraine frick Russia with a single F-35?

      Anonymous

One wouldn't do much. But a mini-squadron of say five F-35s would frick their border defence missile systems and logistic lines pretty hard, which would allow Ukraine to actually push the Russian forces inside Ukraine out finally. The problem is that every time Ukraine makes a dent, Russia just throws more meat into the grinder. I mean, if you have a heartbeat and can hold a rusty rifle they will send you to the front lines.

Sh&t, the way the Ukies play the game, if they had a couple of F35's, they'd try to figure out where Putin was laying his head and put a JDAM through his bedroom window.

          >they'd try to figure out where Putin was laying his head and put a JDAM through his bedroom window.
Crazy as that sounds, such a mission could work. If you have solid intel that he was at X location, a sneak air mission with a really solid stealth plane could take him out and end the war. I don't know what the chances might be, perhaps 20% or less, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that it could work.

            Anonymous

The question then would: who will succeed Putin, and would they be amenable to reason or be another Czar of The Russias in the making?

        Anonymous

Honestly, I think even one would be a major problem, assuming it came with plenty of AMRAAMs. It would suddenly mean that Ukraine is the one with the ability to fire missiles from very far distances with minimal warning for the Russians before they burst into treats, instead of the other way around. It would be very much a fleet in being type of threat that wouldn't kill every Russian aircraft, but would force them to plan every mission they currently fly very differently.

          > It would be very much a fleet in being type of threat that wouldn't kill every Russian aircraft, but would force them to plan every mission they currently fly very differently
It’s arguable that F-16s even in limited numbers will perform this role too. Right now Russia knows that Ukraine has very limited capability to perform long range air to air kills, once the f-16s arrive it will drastically change the calculus of the Russian Air Force since the potential capabilities of the F-16 drastically out class any plane in the Ukie’s existing fleet.

            Anonymous

Sure, but that wasn't the question. I think if you had a single F-35, it would be a waste to spend it's time doing dangerous things like SEAD and bombing runs instead of leveraging that it's an F-22.5 to ruin Russia's day in the air.

Wasn't Stalin a total atheist who adhered strictly to Marxist doctrine of religion being the "Opiate of the masses"?

Yes but he was a pragmatic realist in foreign policy. Stalin handed Greece over to British influence even though communist partisans controlled large parts of Greece, while in exchange Britain recognized Bulgaria and Romania, which the Red Army already occupied, as being in the Soviet sphere of influence. And Yugoslavia would be neutral. So that was a good deal for Churchill.

It is silly, but the thinking behind the accession of Greece and Turkey to NATO was that having both was far safer than having just one, as there is basically no chance that they will ever be friends in any other context, and that neither can say "Look at how close NATO is to us!" like Russia.

Is it possible that the S-400 sale to Turkey was a NATO maskirovka to learn about the S-400's secrets?

      Anonymous

No, it was just the watermelon seller thinking he really really needed its own missile defense (arguable imo) and not being satisfied with the terms of sale for Patriots (he wanted lower price and elements of local manufacture). This then got entangled with Turkey's assumption that the Obama admin knew about the 2016 coup and did nothing and king roach having the big idea of trying to play the US and Russia off each other. Monke offered king roach at a low price and he took the offer. In return, US yanked F-35 from them. It's not maskirovka, Erdogan is fine at Turkish domestic politics but misunderstands the US system and has generally been bad at foreign policy and has moronic economic ideas..

          By the time Greece got F-35s operational, Turkey will field these by indigenous means;
-SIPER Block 3 with ABM and anti-satellite capabilities (block-1 and block-2 are already fielded, marine variant G40 initial tests will be conducted soon from the actual frigate)
          -Yirad (Very high altitude Radar)
          -Orbit Seeking/Tracking Radar
-Low-Frequency (VHF) Radar augmented by AI.

That wouldn't happen if Turkey purchased American and acted like the case was closed.

Here is how this whole conversation is moronic

If Turkey attacks Greece, they lose and lose bad. All of nato will eject them and get FAFO'd faster than a T-90 encountering the Bradley.

The term "they would lose so badly that it would go down in history as one of the greatest strategic blunders in military history" doesn't begin to describe what would happen in Turkey.

If Greece attacked Turkey, the Turks would -still- lose because all of NATO and western nations would flock to support Greece of Turkey, who would find themselves in a position of no friends but Russia, China and Iran. Sure there would be diplomatic screeching, but no one would care because Turkey has been the biggest butthole to Europe for several hundred years. Literally everyone wants a chance to kick the Turks in the face for their shit behavior.

Any time I see a Turkey fan, it reminds me of Houthi and Hamas fanboys. All bluster, no backup.

      >The term "they would lose so badly that it would go down in history as one of the greatest strategic blunders in military history" doesn't begin to describe what would happen in Turkey.

I don't think that's the Turkish goal. Greece wants Turkish lands and sea. Any Greek force landing on the Turkish mainland would get annihilated. Asia Minor has devoured the entire Greek army in 1922. British and French had to bring the navy to the Aegean and divisions to Thrace to halt any offensive because Greece ran out of soldiers.

          >Turkey is a useless state filled with a people used to inbreeding and raping little boys. The idea that you would last more than a day is charitable.

You aren't being "forced" to do anything, you could simply settle for nothing, or pivot to "I can't believe it's not F-16" like the Gripen. Well, that or just adopt the Irish/kiwi coward tactic of "I'm simply going to scream if I get invaded and you'll HAVE to come help." Though that didn't work out too well in WW1.

    Turkey's S-400 status?

  44. 1 month ago
    Anonymous

Turkey and Greece have completely different war plans. Greek ideas of a conflict with Turkey is an air and sea war over contested land. They do not have a vision for a long term war but a brief conflict until outside intervention. That is why the Greek Air Force is so top heavy with lots of anti air missiles like meteor but no real tanker air craft or anything else for deep strike missions. They wanna have a scuffle and come out on top.

Turkey is also planning for the same mission but going about it a different way. That is why they bought S-400 because the plan is "if some conflict happens in the ocean we move S-400 to the shores turn them on and shoot down Greek Air Force".

Nobody in both sides is goin to fight a protracted war between the countries. Greece would get destroyed in that example.

      >s400 against f35s and coming out on top

        Anonymous

Well look I did not say it was the best plan but I said it was a plan. Turkey is also trying to get nice submarines if I recall and also build some gigantic anti air frigates.

The primary issue is between Greece increasing their territorial waters so the Greeks have to make the moves because Turkey is pretty much fine with everything being kept the way it is.

There is also some struggle for natural gas off the coast of Cyprus with Greece,Turkey,France,Israel,Libya all trying to cash in on the prize. But without Israel who is busy with HAM-ASS right now I do not think the Greeks have the power to make the moves for the natural gas. They will most likely all come to the bargaining table.

This is all nothing burger as the chance of both countries fighting a war are next to nothing even a little skirmish is almost impossible. Turks view the Aegean army as a nice vacation destination and have no illusions of fighting a war.

Anyway, while we were talking the exchange rate just went down again (how unexpected), so roach bux are losing even more to literal wienerroaches.

Excellent job Rabbi Hagee, you deleted some pixels on mspaint. soon we will have succeeded in eliminating Christianity and getting the goyim to fully worship us israelites instead. Take this golden Rolex as a sign of our gratitude.

How dare you use the eraser tool on MSpaint? It looks like a soap. My beautiful grandmother was turned into soap and used to lather the uncircumcised genitals of SS officers! I still cannot use soap today without being triggered!!!
