So are ammo prices (especially .223 and 7.62x39) going to skyrocket again once Russian imports dry up or are there enough cheap imports from other places to sustain current prices?

the serbs are sending more, the poles, the romanians, the bosnians (which is probably the serbs again) the bulgarians, even the turks and doemstic makers so itll be fine, for me, not you OP you are gay but the rest of us will be fine
These anons hit the nail on the head. Even low-key countries like Kyrgyzstan started spinning up their soviet ammo factories and selling here. Don't forget the rumors of PSA tooling up their own ammo production.
I would say the days of .25 cpr steelcase is gone, but it might get close depending on the outcome of the elections.
>Don't forget the rumors of PSA tooling up their own ammo production.
Pretty sure it's more than rumor at this point, and it appears that they're putting several big projects they've had going, namely their MP5, completely on hold so they can focus on it. My hope is they're seeing serious opportunity with ammo production and are going whole hog on that.
AAC is made by PSA or at least it's sister company. They current sell 9mm & 5.56.
It seems like they could handle 7.62 but there's a lot of competition at the bottom. Is there even demand for brass 7.62?
>Is there even demand for brass 7.62?
Brass 7.62x39 is fine but steel has always been cheaper, outside the good old days of yugoslav crates yanked from a bunker in bosnia.
If a manufacturer can get brass 7.62x39 to steel prices, itll be the way to go.
Even if possible, still wouldn't make financial sense with brass having a higher perceived value. Someone still has to want to pay more for brass. I dunno. Think prices are only going up & won't fall more than 10% if at all. I've just been searching online deals & taking advantage of tax-free pricing. People still looking at the store are wasting their time.
is america not allowed to make 7.62 ammo or something?
The point isn't who can make it, it's who can make it the cheapest. Other companies in the USA make 7.62x39, but only brass case which is expensive as frick.
>brass case 7.62x39 is currently around 50cpr
>"expensive as frick"
it adds up if you shoot more than 3 times a year homosexual
Yeah I shoot twice a week about 150 rounds of 9mm each day shit adds up for sure. Reloading helps but can't keep up with reloads because I lack the time. So gotta supplement with factory ammo. Been buying blazer brass shit is absurdly accurate in my glock.
>shit is absurdly accurate in my glock.
Every handgun round should be "absurdly accurate". At 50 yards, you're shooting a 2" group at 4 MOA, and I KNOW you're not shooting that well.
Are you a currently competing world champ in IPSC or USPSA? Because otherwise you don't need to shoot that much. You will get better with dry fire. That's not to say I don't wish prices get better, of course I hope they do, but you're still probably wasting ammo. I did the same mistake of thinking high round count = better shooter.
Dude why are you going around telling people to not shoot much? Are you actually homosexual?
Stop mag dumping into trees and start aiming, homosexual. You've been playing on easy mode and now you're upset because you've finally joined the rest of the big boys.
When it was sub .25cpr I'd shoot every other weekend.
With stock sold out over the last few years, or with prices double/triple what they were, those shooting excursions tailed off to once every other month or so.
With the Russhit ammo banned, other countries have stepped up, but we'll never see sub .25cpr again unless they flood the market and demand drops.
>instead of paying 250 a can, I'll pay 500
Based moron.
>but only by paying their workers which is expensive as frick.
my cousin worked at the winchester ammo factory for a while and it was full of Black folk and meth heads. rather send my money to russia
>my dad works for nintendo
Ammo, INC. makes steel case 7.62x39 in Wisconsin.
Federal is really stupid for not cranking out some cheap 7.62x39 for us. They should've done it long ago, it would've hurt Russia.
That is the problem, comrade. Lazy capitalist don’t want to compete. They want a monopoly.
Federal has been cranking it out for decades now.
Eurogay here.
Our prices skyrocketed the moment Ruskie started their poorgay blitzkrieg, because everyone hoarded anything they could get their hands on + leftover Ruskie shit was sent to Ukraine as an aid soon after.
7.62x39 instantly went from ~20 euro cents, to around 1€ a piece. Most places are simply sold out.
I keep looking for Wolf & Tula but, brass is usually only 2 cents more.
I did find a good deal on wolf 9mm that was 297 shipped for 1k but paid 320 for 1k brass AAC the day before.
I even paid taxes on the AAC. If I paid taxes on the Wolf, it would have been more than the brass.
I just want some more 32 cent Wolf gold bros.
What do you think? I can regularly find 5.56 for $1.00 a round at local stores. They get as much as they think they can.
It's already jumped where I'm at
Ammo prices have actually gone down significantly on the back end its stores that are selling it for 3-4X what they actually bought it for keeping the prices stagnant. Why? Because they can and people will buy it thinking it's normal. The store I used to work at did this and I just had to smile and agree with customers asking if I ever thought the prices were gonna come down. Meanwhile the hole in the wall store down the street was selling 5.56 for 12 dollars a box while we sold it for $20. Cost was $4 per box from the distributor.
>TLDR Gun stores are artificially keeping ammo costs high and gouging you because they can.
What do I have to do to become a store that can order 20cpr 5.56 from distributors? Can I just open like a garage ammo sales company and they'll sell it to me for that?
You might be able to do it as an at home FFL but I'm not sure, I havent looked into it much. Mainly because having an FFL means having every federal agency breathing down your neck for the rest of your life
But you don't actually legally need an FFL to sell ammo. Is it the distributors that only sell to FFL as company/industry policy?
I think it depends on the state but I think that's Lipseys policy which is where we got most of our ammo
Why not just say "hey man we're gouging you, go elsewhere"? You're an hourly employee who gives a frick?
I wanted to keep working there until I found a better job (eventually did) plus the manager was always breathing down our necks making sure we didn't actually help customers in any meaningful way.
I want high ammo prices, keep ranges less crowded and poors out of the hobby
lets say you own a company that sells desirable consumables, and you dont have much competition. demand outstrips supply. you also have lots of external factors that allow you to wave your hands and raise your prices without pushback. why would you ever reduce the price? what was the price of ammo 10 years ago? 30 years ago? the ratchet only goes in one direction. the days of affordable shooting are over.
t. just bought my first 7.62 AK oops
>tfw 40,000 round stockpile of russian ammo bought during 16-20
>18 cent 7.62x39
>14 cent 9mm
>50 cent 30-06
>18 cent .223
>45 cent 7.62x54r
>few cases of 30 cent yugo m67 for good measure
comfy
it won't last
Doesn't matter, I'm not shooting any Ruskie ammo made since the special operation started. Not because of any political reasons, but because I suspect they'll be spiking ammo Project Eldest Son style.
