In the market for snow boots and pants, recommend me some PrepHole.
For boots, I was looking at Lowa evo ICE or Salomon forces toundra, which one is better and where can I find them at a good price?
For pants, I have no idea but a softshell is probably good enough, I hate hard shells.
I live on the east coast so we don't get very deep snow but I'd like them both to be versatile pieces that I can use in deep snow
Bump was debating buying the Salomon ones but not sure cause they seemed a bit stiff
>they seemed a bit stiff
listen to your feet and buy what feels right off fit every time. sounds like its not salomons.
t. salmons enjoyer.
No people say they feel like ski boots it’s not just me
the look like ones too
The toundra are not stiff at all. Rear Tortional stiffness is a good thing
Is it time to start bumping all the boot threads again?
Not op but I read those reviews on those specific Salomons and people constantly said the waterproofing sucked so I ended up going with the the adidas goretex boots.
I like salomon trail runners for everyday shoes but they seem to wear down pretty fast.
>Salomon forces toundra
I have these, very comfy. Tho mine began to break after a couple of years. Theres a review on youtube where the guy has the same problem after 5 years of use.
I'm currently looking at the Hanwag Omega GTX for future purchase. So if anyone has any knowledge or inputs on them, I'd be thankful.
Those aren't the boots OP is talking about. Besides yours are mountaineering boots, not snow boots.
are you retarded
bad boot booty boot
>pacific Northwest
>Target larps in the woods
>Like a boot that is good seal
>thinking of Nokia
You don't need to wear a mountaineering boot. Settle down.
I love those Salomons. I've used them postholing all day through -15f snow and never felt a tinge of cold. They definitely are "heavyweight" and should be saved for those days with deep snow and below freezing temps.
I have some water proof Solomon’s, and I have some steger mukluks. I’m in the Canadian Rockies and I never ever choose the Solomon’s now that I have mukluks. My feet always end up wet with them. And to hot if it’s not -10c or more. The mukluks are not waterproof but I have never had wet feet, I think the felt inside wicks so well. I can use them from 0 to -35c (probably colder too) with no sweat, only occasionally feeling cold on my right big toe when static (might be my toes issue) can’t recommend them enough.

nice boots
Arcteryx do some good ones
ney ney
Columbia bugaboo iii
SHITE brand
I ordered this for my SO since they were for sale for $40. Decent?
I'm moving to Northern Alberta and I'll be PrepHoleing a lot in the winter. What boots to get? It gets unbelievably fuckoff cold, my budget is wide open (I just ordered custom White's boots for regular weather stuff) and search engines are completely fucking useless. You look up "boots for extreme cold" or "boots contractors use in extreme cold" or "arctic" and the results are actually less useful than just mashing my face on the keyboard.
I want top quality for walking/standing in -50 all fucking day. Not some fucking piece of shit walmart gayry that's paid a bit more to show up on google.
Bunny boots (white or black depending on your needs)
I use the black ones in interior Alaska and really like them but my feet tend to be pretty warm naturally
Do some research on sizing before buying them because they tend to run large.
Pros
>extremely warm
>insulation can't get wet
>waterproof
Cons
>bulky/heavy and somewhat stiff
>have to wear very long socks or the rubber will cut into your calves
>sweaty feet (won't make the boots less warm but kinda gross)
>can be hard to find an unissued pair in the right size
Bugaboot III XTM are rated negative 55 but someone who equate price and quality thinks they are white, I am on my third northern Quebec winter in them and I love them, light, warm and waterproof, still formfitting not like moklok
>White's was bought out by an anime fashion brand in 2014. They also bought Danner out before the brand went to hell.
Has the quality of the materials or manufacturing process declined? If yes, how?
Danner boots are fine; can't speak for other brands.
I've heard the opposite so I don't know what to think anymore
I own a pair and my experience has been good. They barely needed any breaking-in, they're super comfortable, I've been using them regularly for months and they haven't fallen apart at all.
If they're good for Siberia they're good for you.
except in siberia the snow and the cold are different due to humidity and their boots are meant to be worn with 4000 pair of whatever the fuck woolen garments they have. This boot is meant to walk on dry as fuck snow in the dry as fuck cold and unless it's constant -30 where you are it's kind of useless
Salomon boots along with Lowas have a pretty good reputation with the military so I bet they would last a long time, maybe even a lifetime if taken proper care of
>long winded garbage opinion
whew
jej he deleted it
Get the salomon quests with 400 gram insulation. Hard shells are superior in snow imo
