They are exactly like HIMARS up until they exit the launch tube. Then they are very different. But if you have 500 trucks firing at the same time they can almost duplicate the effects of HIMARS.
They aren’t like himars before leaving the tube either. Instead of dropping a new missile pack on the back of the vehicle, they need to have their tubes reloaded one by one with a specialized vehicle
Yeah, on paper they even have better range.
In reality they are not remotely as precise as advertised so to take down a target they need to fire a full salvo while the HIMARS can target multiple targets with confidence as the CEP is small.
Not terrible, not great, would work well enough if spammed in massive numbers with a very target rich environment to shoot at.
However missiles aren't as cheap as grads so not so many are used.
Larger, slower, harder to hide, require specialized loading support thus slower to load and need much more space to do so. They fulfill a vaguely similar mission profile, but are employed in different ways.
>I completely forgot Russia had these, aren’t they almost like HIMARS?
Even if they were Russia doesn't have the intel infrastructure to find the Ukrainian depots and command posts. If Russia had HIMARS they'd use just end up firing them at cities...
Smerch isn’t their HIMARS. That would be the 9A52-4 Tornado. I have no idea how accurate the GLONASS guided rockets are but they’re probably much less accurate vs GMLRS rockets.
no, russia doesn't produce the guided rockets for them, and by all evidence GLONASS does not work anyway

But at least they have more wheels
It's a giant piece of shit.
missing the "HIM" of HIMARS, so if anything it's just arse

HIMARS has 6 wheels, mighty SMERCH (superior mechanized ertillery for removing cancerous holhols) has 8

Yes, almost, like they almost have an army. Almost.
OOOOOO < OOOOOOOO
Good range, good capacity, dogshit CEP.
Not really in the same league
It looks cool but is a turd compared to HIMARS.
Truck looking cooler is the only thing in which it surpasses HIMARS
What a beauty, can't wait to see what it looks like abandoned
no those are dumb shit
the tornado is tho
