Terror attacks in Dagestan and Makhachkala today combined with that huge one months back in Moscow.

Not until kadyrov kick the bucket

He seems to be having issues keeping his tribe under control. If these attacks keep happening then Russia will eventually start moving reserve forces to put them down again.

There was a reason Romans used to send their roman auxiliary the farther away from the native lands, as that would prevent any sort of internal rebellion.

The trick is you occupy St Petersburg then resettle your own indigent Russians there and then run a referendum to set up a people's republic whereby all the indigent Russians are no longer Estonian Citizens.
It's like Hungary's Transit Zones that allowed migrants to self deport by putting them on the other side of the border fence, but still in Hungarian territory, so they'd have to leave the country if they wanted food and water.

Isis took over a small prison last week. Clearly you don't get the idea of it's 1917 again. Putin can't put down a series of small rebellions and Ukraine and hold Belarus. Throw in the Cuba problems and the refineries. Russia is turning neo feud. In Belgorod the Russian military and police only rule where they are exactly at, then the two Ukrainian provinces have 100-200 Russian soldiers being butchered mostly at night. Enjoy the melt down. It just shows that they don't know anything about rats.
Rats are very clean animals, socially active and form bonds. If you feed a rat, you will get a fat rat. But it won't bite you if you treat it friendly.

Rats can be friends. It's just like with humans... you treat someone with only contempt and cruelty, and they will hate you and will hurt you back.

I don't know whether anyone's tried (re-)training an adult feral rat but it's generally true for any adult wild animal that befriending it is going to be hard and risky and probably only last while you keep feeding it. Ideally, you want to get them as infants.

Dogs are a bit of an exception because it's bred into them but most other animals are like that.
You could take a baby sewer rat and raise it in humane conditions and it would probably be cool.

Chechnya wasn't really betrayed from the top. Most leaders that were loyal to dudayev were assasinated or killed in raids. There were a couple of outright traitors but most remained loyal (Maskhadov also probably was planning an assasination of Kadyrov after the betrayal but no proofs).
I find the fall of Chechnya to be extremely interesting, it was basically a complete shitshow and a window into how things might have looked if Russia didn't fumble the Ukraine invasion.

All things considered chechen mistreatment of POWs are really blown out of proportion. There's like 3 notorious videos and they were all from the latter part of the last war where the foreign religious extremists had started flooding in.
During the duration of the war there were multiple large prisoner exchanges

Try to sign up for drone duty (so you can send a surrender message and request extraction in exchange for location of drone base) or some kind of vehicle of value so you'll get the cash reward.

So it's pretty clear that Russia is well on the way to repeating 1917 again. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not even in a year, but at some point in the near future the army is going to realise that they're poor, they're starving, they're fighting a pointless war that none of them want to be in, and they're going to mutiny en masse. We already had a close scare with prigo, may he rest in peace. My question is: Who is going to take over and what is Russia going to look like afterwards?

1917's Russia had a shitton of different domestic factions that all hated the tsar. 2024's Russia has zero domestic opposition.

I started writing a meme plot about this. You know how Putin has loads of body doubles and lookalikes? I was writing out a meme plot that Putin - the real Putin - dies and Russia starts to fracture, but each faction has their own body double of Putin and claims that they are the true leaders of Russia and that the death of Putin is a lie by the other states and they're fake Putin's trying to trick people.

But I am not very smart.

I honestly believe we'll see children and women fight in Ukraine before Russia even begins to think about stopping the war. The Russian people truly believe that they're directly fighting against the whole west and the country and Putin are fighting for the survival of the people.
So no, as much as people love to scream "collapse "on /k/, at this pace the war won't end until at least the 2030's.

        Anonymous

While that's still possible, we're going to see a steep collapse in Russian military equipment by the end of this year/within the next year or two.
By 2026, assuming the war is even going by then, the Russian military will pretty much no longer have an airforce, or a navy, or armored vehicles, or much more than stolen civilian cars for logistics.
They *can* herd frickloads of civilians with rusted out AKs towards Ukraine, but that'll just end with 100 to 1 casualty ratios, and literally turn this into a self-inflicted genocide.
In short, God please let this happen, I cannot express the sheer mirth of watching a whole Russian family complete with armed toddlers get turned into red mist by a shell.

          Anonymous

This seems hopeful, at least with regards to their navy and air force, they aren't losing THAT many planes in Ukraine and they can't send much more to their navy. Granted not destroyed doesn't mean their planes are actually flyable so it could still be bad for them.

Personally, I would like to see the glorious rebirth of the Mountainous Republic of the Northern Caucasus. Of course, it should be a secular, federal, democratic and western-aligned sovereign state. Europe, especially Ukraine, deserve to be compensated for the economic damages incurred during the war, and the oil and gas fields of Dagestan and Chechnya would be an apt prize - with the added bonus that northern caucasian peoples get to be free of the Russian yoke at last.

The population of those regions doesn't want to live under Georgian rule and there would be too much ethnic strife. I think the Georgians could accept losing those territories for good in exchange for EU gibs; instead of de facto-russian occupied territories, instead next door they'd have a state that at least isn't openly hostile to them and attempting to destabilise the state, as Russia is currently doing with Georgia.

This would be an EU wet dream right now and they'd be trying to make it into a member state with infinity eurogibs ASAP.

I am absolutely convinced that the west (especially the EU) should embrace the idea of a post-Putin / post-war collapse of the Russian state and actively work towards it while drafting a new political order for the former Russian lands. Having access to Russian resources (as well as Ukrainian agriculture) inside the EU common market would create the conditions for an European reindustrialization capable of standing up to China.

there are hundreds of thousands of displaced Georgians waiting to go back. Georgian political landscape is polarized as frick, but reclaiming Georgian land is the one thing all political parties agree on.
          >instead of de facto-russian occupied territories, instead next door they'd have a state that at least isn't openly hostile to them
so instead of Russian-backed separatists they're getting separatists backed by a new nation.

          >should be a secular
will never happen, those regions adhere to the sharia law more closely than some ME shitholes.
if russia actually collapses, we'll probably see multiple localized conflicts, one of which will be in the Caucasus, Dagestanis and Chechens aren't very fond of each other.
Abkhazia and SO will probably be reclaimed by Georgia, remember that both in 1992 and 2008, Georgians were winning before Russians really got involved.
I do like the idea of a north-Caucasian federation, sadly I doubt it will ever happen.

There is little appetite for further enlargement in the EU right now, unless for example the Council decision-making processes aren't reformed first. But nothing would stop them from integrating within the EU market even as a non-member, a bit like Norway or like Ukraine was/is gradually doing.
