          Anonymous

Citations needed. I don't mean to sound like an butthole here, but for that to happen, not only did the striker have to slip off of the trigger without the trigger actuating, but the firing pin block had to have moved out of the way as well. If there's a repeatable way for both safety mechanisms to fail, it should be easy to diagnose how that's happening, especially since it's just happening in the holster. So I hope you can see why I'm skeptical.

Barring user error in reassembling the pistol, of course.

He's referring to a few cops who claim their 320 went off on its own in the holster and shot them in the leg. But they're cops so most likely they shot themselves doing something moronic and don't want to admit it

          Anonymous

No there have not been. There have been about a dozen cases of cops claiming their P320s fired without being touched, most of them were manipulating or wiggling the gun somehow or the guns weren't even holstered. There is literally not a single scrap of evidence that they can fire without being touched. If you believe so then you believe 100 years of copy lying about NDs to avoid paperwork and punishment.

        Anonymous

Unfortunately not as easy as that. Only certain P320 FCUs can accept the manual safety parts, usually ones that already have a manual safety already. You had to modify the existing FCU to get it to accept a safety.

These guys will do it for you: https://www.abprototype.com/manual-safety-cut/

P365 is different in that all FCUs can accept a safety.

It's moronic but if you have P320 that didn't come with a safety you're probably gonna have to do this in order to get one bar buying an entirely new pistol or FCU.

I’m seeing a lot of posts ITT that are suggesting that Sig actually fixed the “dropsafe” issue from 2017.

They didn’t; the issue is larger than the guns just being not dropsafe, not having any kind of inertial trigger saftey is a massive design flaw. There are a bunch of cases now of sigs discharging while holstered.

This is kind of a stupid question but is it physically possible for a gun to go off if you have the manual safety enabled? I know the safety blocks the trigger mechanism or something like that but is it theoretically possible for the firing pin to strike a round even if you have the safety on?

      Anonymous

There are different types of safeties, trigger, hammer, pin etc. ideally a CC gun has multiple safeties.
What I’m trying to say is a gun with a firing pin safety (like a Glock) will not go off without the trigger being depressed unless the safety itself breaks. Some guns don’t have pin safeties though.

      depends on the gun
a series 70s 1911 can go off even with the manual safety on and the grip safety undepressed. its why they did the series 80s.
there are a bunch of other common exceptions that can fire regardless of safety location.

Use your safeties, thumb your hammers. If you have a gun without a safety that doesn't have a hammer, you're dumb but not entirely out of luck. That's a duty gun that has to be used in a large OWB duty holster with your shirt tucked in. The holster is your safety with those type of guns, so it's not a good idea to get a half assed holster that you stuff in your pants. You wouldn't ever buy a rifle that has a 7lb trigger and no safety, or any rifle with no safety, so why buy a handgun with a 5.5lb trigger and no safety that you need to put in a holster? Don't be FRICKING moronic.

    https://www.nhbr.com/corruption-in-the-gun-trade-hits-home/

    >In 2017, Patricia Hall-Cloutier was directing the export compliance unit of gun producer Sig Sauer Inc. in Newington, NH. Throughout her less than two years at the company, she reported multiple violations of U.S. gun export license laws by Sig officials.

    >In June 2017, she noticed an invoice for a license to export weapons to Indonesia with a manually created invoice altering the recipient of the guns. When she reported the violation to her supervisors, she was summarily fired, according to a lawsuit she filed later that year. Two months later, Sig Sauer shipped more than $5 million worth of military weapons, handguns and components to Indonesia, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

    >The diversion of weapons Hall-Cloutier reported was not the first time Sig Sauer had allegedly violated gun export rules. Last year, Sig Sauer CEO Ron Cohen was arrested at the Frankfurt airport in Germany for alleged involvement in an illegal delivery of 38,000 pistols to Colombia between 2009 and 2012. Part of a larger shipment from Sig Sauer’s German parent company to its U.S. branch, the pistols were exported to Colombia for use by National Police, which violated German law because of stipulations about shipping guns to countries with documented human rights violations. Cohen later settled with prosecutors to pay large fines.

    >Much corruption within the gun trade is not explicitly illegal. In 2013, Ron Cohen contributed to the campaign of U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, who sits on the Senate committee that oversees U.S. weapons exports. She subsequently declined to sign on to legislation that would maintain congressional oversight on such exports.

          >Documented incidents of accidental discharge of the Sig Sauer P320 are considerable. Those involved are often well-trained law enforcement officers or members of the military, individuals who are familiar with firearms. In addition to the accidents specified earlier, others include:

          >The discharge of a counterterrorism officer’s Sig Sauer P320 while in its leg holster. The officer (a marine and police force veteran) was sitting in his vehicle, not touching the weapon, when it fired. The bullet went through the car and narrowly missed hitting a pedestrian on the street. (Note: within weeks of this event, the agency for whom the officer worked decided to discontinue use of this weapon.)
          >A U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer was injured when his P320 fired when he put his hands on the gun’s grip (not the trigger). The officer was training at a shooting range at the time of the accident. The bullet entered his hip and exited his thigh, resulting in considerable injury including nerve damage.
          >A law enforcement officer was injured when his Sig Sauer P320 was discharged without his touching it at a crowded high school football game. The officer was injured, but thankfully the surrounding students were not harmed.
          >In 2020, a Sig Sauer P320 went off in the midst of a military training exercise in Canada. The soldier, who belonged to Canada’s elite special forces counterterrorism unit, was lucky — he suffered only a flesh wound. As a result of this incident, the Sig Sauer P320 is no longer used by this branch of their military.

I know for a fact that the JTF2 incident was 100% the soldier's fault and the gov withdrew their complaint against Sig. When it happened, Sig asked for the gun and holster so they could investigate and it turned out Canada's Tier 1 SF were using nig rigged holsters for other guns that they had heated and bent to roughly shape the P320. Sig told them to buy decent holsters and to frick off.

Every time one of these incidents happens, you never hear about an end result. Usually because the department/agency quietly retracts it after they fail to offer any evidence beside some moronic patrolman's (who everyone knows is lying) word that "It just went off. I wasn't doing anything."

Yeah I'm gonna need to see some citation for that claim.

Why do all these alleged victims keep picking on this company? Seems like something fishy is going on.

Basically it was an opportunity to cover up an embarrassing accident for an elite unit and play defense industry politics at the same time. Note Sig hasn't paid shit to Canada and they've let the incident go.

People keep going after Sig because admitting one of your officers/agents/soldiers had an ND is a frick ton of hassle. People have to be disciplined, unions get involved, investigations and remedial training all around.

Or... you can say the gun went off by itself and file a complaint that'll look good in the news but end up going nowhere because nobody can replicate the problem. Less embarrassing because it's some company's fault and your guy can get easy no fault medical coverage for his injury.

The bore axis on these things are atrocious too. I've tried a lot of these other brands and seriously the glock is just such a better pistol than everything else. The only other handguns I own are revolvers just cause they're fun and I like 357

I'll just ignore what ever autism is going on above and ask a question. Can you install a manual safety onto a P320? I know the m17 and m18 already have them, but i'm not a big of that coyote tan or whatever they call it color.

Drop an m17 FCG into a black grip module that has the safety cutout. Add a black slide of your choice.
Bam, black m17 or Safetied P320, patato patata.

I really like the idea of the modular handgun system but I don't like striker guns and I don't want to buy a gun known for NDing of its own will. Do you think they'll ever figure out how to do the same thing with a hammer fired action?

I think multiple handguns have gone through safety updates too.
I sent mine back in for the voluntary free update though.
However......frick Sig Mags the followers wore out and I had to plastic weld the mag catches back into shape

Given how moronic people are today and how they can't even follow instructions on a shooting range, there will be deaths no doubt.
