You're an idiot. You don't know what to pack because you don't know where you're going. And somehow leaving your home is a good idea because you're going to survive from a backpack. Idiot.

This. I think in the event of any actual emergency, sheltering in place with the curtains drawn and lights off might be safer. It will only take Black folk a week or two to loot and riot and starve to death and make going outside safer. Having enough food and water at home to last you a few weeks/a month is probably your best bet.

        Okay homosexual:

If you're in the city when SHTF, then you don't need to worry about a pack because the most dangerous thing you can do is travel.

You should plan to a) be out of the city before SHTF in your secluded country retreat, or b) have a urban survival plan to fortify your home and not need to leave your dwelling for at least 15, if not 30, days

          Anonymous

          >You should plan to a) be out of the city before SHTF
This is exactly why I want my kit to have everything I need to live a normal life. Not just survive. As soon as something fishy happens, I'm out. Most likely, nothing really bad happens and I just "work from home" from another location for a while. I can hit up some bars in another city, visit family, or whatever until I am ready to go back.
They will not evacuate a city at the drop of a hat. In fact they do everything they can to cover up an incident (like a hazmat spill) in a major city. If you are paying attention there is a very good chance that you will have the opportunity to moonwalk out of there before normies realize anything is happening.

Read a book on ultralight long distance backpacking that includes gear lists for week+ trips. Then buy all that stuff, but add in additional supplies with the assumption that every single person you see is going to be trying to kill you.

I do backpacking (and used to simply keep my backpack loaded as my go-bag) but this time I am targeting something different. I want to be able to walk out of home and live a relatively normal life for a designated amount of time. So that means things like a phone charger, multiple sets of decent clothes, pillow, shaving supplies, etc. in addition to the stuff you need to simply survive.

This way I don't need to even think about leaving if things get sketchy. I can just frick off to a hotel or pitch my tarp or whatever I need to do without depending on anyone else.

You ever want to fish hook someone's nostrils?

        Anonymous

        >fish hook someone's nostrils?
That's clearly a "Pliers Septum" not a nostrilfish.
Here's a picture someone posted earlier today. It has a portable fishing kit, and little belt pouches that open up to be loot bags for your found possibles and pop bottles.
I like the idea of converting all your electronicals to "charged by USB" and then get USB power packs. Looks like you can get hand warmers that are also USB power packs.
That sleeping bag suit is not going to be as warm as a bag that lets you touch your weiner, but if shit gets weird, you could pose it somewhere as bait, while you sneak up and fishhook some nostrils, or plier some septums, according to nose configuration and need.

Based trapper anon, but shtf isn't the time to learn sets. Practice these, plus snares and trotlines (or better yet, baskets and weirs). Basically any method described as poaching, unsporting, or unethical. These are usually highly effective with low time investment.
You also want to practice your processing and stew making. I suggest a gallon aluminum pot with a bail.

Consider keeping your pack weight at 30lbs or so, tops, assuming you're a grown man. Just because you can carry more when you're well fed and well rested doesn't mean you'll be able to when you've been innawoods for a month and you're starving, bug-bitten, sleep deprived, scared, confused, etc. Only pack the absolute essentials and try to keep things simple, because exhaustion leads to confusion and injuries. After a few days without food, you'll start forgetting how to tie your own shoelaces, and I think a lot of preppers tend to underestimate this factor of survival. Also, get a bug net for your head. It weighs almost nothing and you'll be thanking god you have it if you're outside for days at a time. I'll submit tips as I think of them.
