Redux adds more to the journey, but it's ultimately unnecessary.

Final Cut is the best cut. Redux is too bloated.

I cannot believe the final cut deleted the USO show scene but kept the french plantation.

Redux. Also, why post the nu-reddit poster?

At least it doesn't have the Final Cuck's revisionist meme colour grading.

Either way would be fine, but the original release is better as a first time viewer imo. I took a friend who was a first timer to the theater to see redux, and he definitely liked it but you could tell that it was a bit much for him. I always watch the original when I revisit, there's nothing in the redux that I feel is really needed

Watch Theatrical first obviously, then Redux, then Final. All in one sitting, ideally.

Final Cut is the best and frick Redux, the scenes kill the pacing, the French plantation scene is a good length in Final Cut.

just watch redux and never watch it again unless you like the spectacle
it lacks the emotional weight or resolution of other vietnam war genre movies. it captures the wild anxiety of the book but of course not in the same way, like any other novel adaptation.
btw if you haven't read heart of darkness you have no excuse, it's short enough to read in 2 or 3 afternoons, the story isn't convoluted or full of hard-to-keep-track-of characters, and the language is straightfoward and quite modern for a victorian era novella. go to libgen or find a cheap copy on abebooks or amazon

Redux has a few slight pacing issues while the original has very good pacing, so I’d recommend watching that first as a first time viewer. Once you’re acquainted with it the Redux will be cool, you’ll see a lot of deleted scenes and their context within the movie

I feel like when a movie is that long pacing kind of stops mattering. If I'm settling in for a 3 hour long film then I kind of expect it to go forever.

the best version is the one that has all the cool stuff (playboy hookers) and none of the boring stuff (the plantation shit). I don't remember what's it called

Theatrical. Final and Redux gays are wrong (and gay), watch those later if you liked the OG version.

The Theatrical cut is perfect. It has everything it needs and is lacking in nothing. The later cuts only tamper with perfection.

I hated Platoon the first time I watched it. Then watched Redux and then Platoon again and it was much improved. Redux may be a real trek but it is an epic, compared to Thin Red Line which is less a movie and more an auteurs highlight reel.

The homosexual French scenes and the playboys prostitute scenes are basically useless and provide nothing to the movie

If you're a kino connoisseur, then watch redux. If you're just a casual movie goer, watch the theatrical release.
