Should I attend The Citadel?

I’d love to serve my country and I’d like to commission, is The Citadel a good option or should I go ROTC?

I have served with many Citadel-commissioned officers and cadets. Not a single one of them was what I would call a normal, functioning human being.
Also, a school like the Citadel or VMI is the worst of both worlds regarding service academies and ROTC. You will not get the opportunities, connections or reputation of the service academies, but you will also not have a normal life outside of uniform like you would in ROTC at a normal school.
Schools like Virginia Tech and Texas A&M are far better for a school with a standing corps of cadets because they have the dedicated military culture as well as a normal student body so you can also learn how to be a normal person and frick hot girls. Every VT or A&M cadet I met was absolutely bro tier.
Normal ROTC is totally fine as well. You will have the exact same rank and job as a ring-knocker but you won't be mentally scarred and can actually learn things like how to cook for yourself, talk to girls and pay for an apartment.
Of course, the first question is if you can even pay to go to any of these schools. Do whatever is easiest financially.

    >tl;dr
Frick the citadel, frick the service academies, do ROTC at a good school and don't go into debt.

Seconding this. Assuming you didn't get into some Ivy/Stanford/MIT tier school then you should just go to the best state school you can get into (ideally your state's flagship, try to transfer into there if you don't get admitted initially), pay in-state tuition and do ROTC.

This is a pretty good summary, although I would recommend you just do the normal ROTC track. I graduated/commissioned from VT in 2012 and have served with plenty of other officers from VMI/The Citadel, all of whom were emotionally stunted weirdos. VT and A&M guys are more normal, but I think the advantages of going to either of those programs are slight compared to the disadvantages of having to dress in a goofy uniform, shine shoes, and march around in college. Believe me, you will get tired of it by your junior year.

just get her attention and ask her out. if shes not taken (big if) then even if shes out of your league you stand a good chance because you're the guy in front of her asking her out. so long as you're presentable and not fat you're in a good spot

Serve country and commission. Good that you've made a decision. Now think about what you want to do IN the military. Infantry is a pretty shitty way to go as an officer (enlisted can go contractor and make bank). Military is essentially a shitty little reflection of the broader civilian world. This is reflected in pay, and other things like quality of training from your school. This will help you while you serve and provide insurance if you get out on the early side (later in your career, people don't care as much about what school you graduated from). I would honestly try to go Air Force and go into something cyber/tech.

Also frick the knock off academies. The academies are miserable enough. Their product is like 3:7 bros vs shitty people. The dollar store academies will simply frick your life up, put you in debt, not educate you well, and because of their reputations you have a shittier chance of getting in than just going to a regular state school and doing well there without ROTC. The only reason these shitty places stay afloat is the weird brainwashed parents who insist their kids go to the school. Essentially cults.

don't listen to all these little b***hes The Citadel is the way to go and the first SMI of the year is now officially over. The Citadel commissions the most officers in the country for a reason. Also, we got the first space force contacts if you go to a non-military school and commission you tbh you will probably be LT who can't do land nav or just looks ate up.

Explains a lot. Citadel people are weird. I’ve never encountered such bland, unimaginative, and humorless officers.

Sure, if you want to be an emotionally damaged basket case who is hated by his SNCOs. Citadel and VMI grads lie to themselves, telling themselves that at least they're tough because of what they went through. The reality is that they're some of the most humorless and unstable people to serve with.

If you want to serve your country there little to no federal way to do so in the military. Honestly, if ACTUALLY doing things that helps people in your community is what's important consider being a full time National Guardsman or AGR (Active Guard Reserve). Your best bet is also to specialize in something that has utility during a State Emergency. Hurricanes, blizzards, floods, riots, etc. I've been a NG enlisted for 17yrs, just made E-7. When I was young I was an MP, and got to participate in riots, Governor inaugurations, and even supported some security services for some visiting dignitaries. Latter in my career I crossed to an engineer career field and have operated logistics and heavy machinery for several hurricanes and blizzards.
Now, every so often the fricking Feds made me go fight for Israel in some random place that benifits my community a total of zero. But over all is say I feel very satisfied that I've ACTUALLY served my community. The real community the people you can meet face to face. Not the ZOG ((COMMUNITY)) i.e. people you'll never meet but share a random fetish or skin tone with.

I know a homie who went to the Citadel.

He says they're brutal to the first years, but it's a good overall program and community.

It really depends if you want to have a normal college experience or just drop straight into the military autism.

No and you shouldn't join the military at all to begin with. America died in 1865 and it's only gotten worse. Are you willing to die for this presidential administration and an entire country of psychopathic antigun liberals that hate you because you're white? I'd sure hope not.
