Shotguns usefulness outside of hunting.

At this point in time I no longer own a shotgun. What are your opinions on the use of shotguns? what they are good at, what are they ok at and do they do anything a rifle or a pistol can’t do if I’m not a hunter? I do not own a shotgun anymore and I don’t want to get another one because two and a half years ago I almost blew my brother up with a maverick 88 and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Hunting and recreation (clays) are basically their strongsuit, yeah. There's no particular reason to consider them for defense unless bears are a legitimate concern. It's worth saving a few hundred more and buying an AR/PCC (don't @me about stopping power), instead.

Bears can still be handled well by properly loaded 10mm

Literally zero reason for shotguns to be allowed to anyone not a hunter or other professional. It only exists so American wiggers can force their cousins to marry their daughters they have impregnated.

Seems pretty useful for home defense.
Anyways, if you own guns and you don't hunt, what the frick are you doing? It's an uber fun way to exercise and improve your shooting skills, with the bonus of getting tasty meat at the end. Plus hunting helps preserve gun rights.
Seriously, get a shotgun and go shoot some birds, loser

IMHO there are five use cases for shotguns. They may or may not apply to do you.
    1) Hunting.
    2) Clay sports
    3) Effective, inexpensive, and cuckstate-friendly HD
    4) Niche military/police uses like breaching, or less-lethal ammo like bean bags, tear gas, etc.
    5) Fun range toy

If someone breaks into my home I'm shooting them with my Benelli M4. I'd like to see anything survive 9 rounds of copper-plated buckshot. A shotgun should be in everyone's toolbelt. It's the most versatile firearm you can buy.

Drone hunting, as drones become more prevalent for infantry use, you'll need a shotgun to shoot them down

Jesus this board has gone to shit. None of you actually shoot at all. Shotguns are great because of how many uses you get out of one gun. You can shoot clays, you can shoot birds, you can shoot bigger animals, and you can shoot people if neccessary. All from one gun, with a changing of load and maybe barrel. They're cheap guns with cheap ammo that are easy to use (If one of you newbies says how hard they are to use I'll come over there and frick your head). They are also rarely b& anywhere but the gayest of places, so anons in shitty places can take advantage of their many uses. I seent people killed with shotguns. Both suicides and one homicide. They work great.

I love your 870 on the bottom. What kind is it and how do you like it? I've been looking for a cheap surplus Police Magnum so I can SBS it for home defense. I think I missed a recent wave of them so I'm a little annoyed

Dangerous animal defense. An 18.5" shotgun with a decent sling and 3" Brenneke slugs is almost as handy as a 6" .44, and vastly more powerful and effective against bears or rutting moose or whatever. Not to mention, it's 200 bucks, not an expensive, gorgeous work of precision clockwork like a fine revolver.

Shotguns are fine. Not my first choice but they'll do the job. Also, you probably could've just as easily almost merked your brother with any other long gun.
