The AR-12 is a good semi auto shotgun, ideally, I’d equip it with a green visible laser and a binary triggered. Would get about five double taps. Tape a mag and carry a couple extra in pockets or four on the chest. It’s just a 12 gauge shotgun in the AR platform, shoots faster than pump action or manually loaded shotguns.

        >binary trigger
        That is my build here
For double taps with 12 gauge shells
For opening doors and stopping targets
        Such as dangerous feral hogs

Lmao no it’s a trash cope shotgun that barely functions if you look at reviews, good luck getting a binary trigger for it because the only AR compatible parts is the buttstock and grip.

Shotgun breaching is complete shit compared to a base set of pry bars, bolt cutters and a sledge
    >loud as frick
    >doesn't successfully penetrate most doors
    >every time you shoot a locking mechanism you risk losing an eye or someone else's eye
    >frag from the locking mechanism shreds your gloves and sleeves and peppers your hands and forearms with frag
    >tiny metal filings and splinters from wooden door frames embed in your skin
    >can kill an innocent person behind the door
    >can't use a breaching shotgun to open a loft, wardrobe or cellar
    >run out of ammo and you have a paperweight

    t. does this occupationally

Any door that's being opened by shooting it is also being opened by a few good hits, or being shot by other comparable guns. You're also sending little splinters of wood, and metal everywhere, so I hope you're wearing safety glasses, gloves, and a good thick coat.

While I've never gone around trying to open doors with shotguns, I had a buddy that was getting into lockpicking, and told him "Why not use a drill, or a hammer?" to which he replied that it wouldn't work. So one day we demonstrated removing several with ballpeen hammers, fist sized rocks, bricks, ect.

We of course also shot them, though we always observed the handle dislodging from the door itself, so I stuck these steel lids we'd used as targets before around it, and then we couldn't seem to shoot it open at all, but the butt knocking the doorknob out, then just poking it open worked.

While these lids were a lot thicker than most exterior metal doors, and it was a good bit of fun doing Arnold impressions hitting doors, the conclusion we walked away with was "Interior doors aren't particularly secure against anything." rather than a ringing endorsement of shotguns for breaching.

While your post is right your friend is a dumb ass if he couldn't come up with legit reasons why you would use picking tools over a destructive entry method.

Well, you're welcome to come up with legal reasons why you'd want to pick a lock over drilling, and replacing it. Basically we came up with "Someone accidentally brought the keys with them to something you need urgently before they can get back, and you lost your keys, it'll save you some money, and you have a antique locking mechanism, that you hold sentimental value towards the lock itself, or it's so fragile running a drill through the lock may damage it."

Which I'm sure you'd admit are pretty niche applications where you'd be better served making sure to have extra keys in both scenarios. While opening your buddy's tool box is a neat trick, and all it's just not particularly useful. Unless you're a burglar, but we were talking about legal applications.

          You work in penetrative testing.
But breaching locked rooms is already a niche scenario so I fail to see why one niche is better than another
          >Legal
          Boring.
