Stoner was right. Is anyone making a good chrome BCG? Is Young's Manufacturing any good now that KE Arms bought them? Is that improved KE Arms BCG any good? I have seen some videos about questionable quality control.

I don't know.
the reason there are chromed BCGs is that it is a way to easily protect a BCG using more antiquated methods.
I would have to have an evaluation of the manufacture methods, material components, and treatment methods to provide you more information but generally
>Forged, Anodized(nitride), high grade steel
will always be a safe bet, because these companies often have a short tolerance.
>milled, chromed (nickle boron), mid-grade steel
will be safe but could have problems if the milling and heat treating is done incorrectly.
Centurion makes chrome BCGs
>prioritised the BCG for chroming instead of the bore and chamber
Stoner was mistaken
>Young's Manufacturing any good now that KE Arms bought them?
Would sooner bet on ,

Stoner admitted that a CL barrel would be a great idea, the carrier being chromed made since because as we know the AR shits where it eats and the carrier gets pretty filthy shooting
Yep, that's why the cylinder is still chromed to this day, Stoner just overcorrected
anon, you said "shits where it eats"
Have you even fired a gun,let alone an AR? They all get dirty. The AR is self cleaning though. the gas blows excess carbon out with each round fired; its why you get peppered with painful little bits of "Grit" if you are a dumbass.
As long as you are shooting full power loads, it should be fine. Subsonic or something weird will probably cause it to cycle erratically. That said as I get older I fall more and more into the "Nyet! Rifle is fine" crowd. the only real mod I would do to an interly pure AR anymore is the quick change barrel, grips/ furniture, and maybe a different trigger if you are super into bench shooting or 3 gun or some shit. Different mags all day, yeah, sure, those are cool tool. Optics. yes.
Really though, once you start fucking with the BCG you start going down the road of "I do not want a buffer tube." and eventually you find youself struggling between wanting a DI gun but not a Piston gun, and now you are at the FM-15 but cannot do the cool things like an upper swap to socom that an AR-15 can do, and once again you come full circle back to the AR-15.
Then you are fucking with progressive springs and hydraulic buffer tubes, and eventually by the time you get you first grey hairs you realize its all the fucking same. Its shiny trinkets to sell to goobers for a tiny bit of "more", that you either don't notice or is more of a hassle to feed and upkeep.
If you want something really fucking nice, do the following: pay to have your entire gun cryotreated for the full 24-36 hours. Have your BCG and internals coated with DLC (diamond like carbon), then have that micro shot peened (WPC). That is pretty fucking cool, and acutally makes a difference in cycling. As an added benefit your gun now has a lot in common with a high speed long life tool.

Anon, I'm just testing the waters of an even lighter M16A1, none of... all of that.
Not reading all that, also you're gay.
gay like a fox!
For zoomies; AI video "gestalt". Research done.
Fuck off with that dogshit-ugly minmaxxed pageantry.
oh anon. I don't want that, but if an individual seeks a road, I will show it to them. That is just being neighborly. The only thing wrong with that gun you have shown is nothing. It is perfect.
She's always been there.
Waiting for us
Phosphate holds oil better.
I normally just keep putting lube on a dirty bcg until it forms a sludge of oil and carbon. It's almost like a thin grease. How do chrome carriers handle this mix of oil and carbon?
>Is anyone making a good chrome BCG
My expo/microbest is p bussin no cap frfr...
I don't clean my guns (pic rel) my bcg was completely black until I touched it a little from sludge/carbon and it holds lube very well
Nice pic! I really like what you did with the stock there.
Thanks for the protein sir! I need more bullets I need more bullets!
chrome lined stays slick and rust-free even without oil
phosphate can run out of oil whereas chrome lining is permanent
And chrome has slef lubricious properties that get better the hotter it gets. Learn material sciences you dunning kreuger imbecile.
I've been happy with my Young BCG
ARES ARMORY HAD AWESOME ONES BACK IN THE DAY. MAY STILL BE ABLE TO FIND THEM ONLINE SECOND HAND.
Thanks... keep me posted..

Just wiped mine down. It’s been through some shitty builds and lots of rounds but still ticking along but some wesrnon the NiB finish. I’d try a chrome Brownells next. Bought on eBay back in 2014.
You aren't wading through salt brine with your rifle as a mandatory part of your employment contract so it doesn't matter
Nib work the same?
Chad of School of the autistic rifle fame doesn't like nickel boron.
Can I get a quick summary of why he says that?
Uneven and out of spec dimensions due to poor quality control, slippery extractors if they also get coated, maybe something else that I can't recall right now.
Could any of that be true for a chromed bolt, too?
Not in today's day and age. Watch the fucking video gay. Watch small arms solutions videos on bolt carrier groups gay.
Yes, which is why you'll see some mfgs offer chrome bolts with phosphate extractors.
Neat!
Watch the fucking 10 minute video you fucking gay
Lmao no
>absolute state of adhd zoomchuds
Post gun
They wanted to talk about it, they replied anyway, they were always going to, regardless of whether I watched the 25 minute e-celeb video or not.
No NiB is garbage and used by garbage companies. NP3/Nickel teflon is a whole different ballgame however.
I like them because they are easier to clean, no other reason that that really. I have an older Young Nat'l Match chromed carrier that's about 10 years old and still runs/looks great. Can't speak to their newer stuff though.
>Young's Manufacturing any good now that KE Arms bought them? Is that improved KE Arms BCG any good?
no and no
just get a microbest chrome bcg
Sort of relevant:
Think I could get away with one of these lightweight BCGs in an A1 build? Or do they really need adjustable gas?
>oil runs off leaving parts dry
Microbest. That is the inly one.
Young doesn't stake their shit which is antithetical to stoner so fuck them. Also their gimmick about angled lugs is bullshit and they shear more than normal especially on shorter overgassed guns like mk18's.
There is NOTHING wrong with Nickel Boron bcg
Brownells and expo arms both sell chrome bolt carriers. The brownells one go on sale for $99 every so often.
>Brownells
>9310 bolt
No, I don’t think I will buy that pos
Then go for the expo arms one.
One thing no one's mentioned yet is chrome lining is thicker than nitriding or other coatings, so all other things held equal, the internal diameters of the bcg are smaller with chrome, and closer to the TDP spec. This lets them form a better gas seal than bcgs with other finishing methods if that wasn't taken into account in the machining process.
Microbest or sionics
That's why you're supposed to leave your shoes at the door lol
>anon
But Skelly, I–
Anon, that's airsoft
Probably
Rando images will have to do till my parts kit gets in and put together
subscribe to "School of the American Rifle" on YouTube. He covers chrome BCG's and the reason he prefers them.
He covers the tolerances, gauging, etc.
Very, very good resource. Maybe one of the best available to normies right now
Black Cock Gang makes good bcg
whatchu guys think about cryptic coatings BCGs? I got one and its super slick but haven't put enough rounds through for a good comparison with my BCM BCG
They've fallen out of favor with the gucci crowd but I have one with 1,000's of rounds on it and it still works/looks great.
>Is anyone making a good chrome BCG?
the KAC sandcutter if you can a) afford it and b) find one
microbest also makes a chrome bcg and they're the OEM for a lot of the better AR companies
Black River Tactical has Microbest chrome BCGs that go through their in-house QC process, I'm very happy with mine.
