This Ukrainians are just switching all their lights out and taking cold showers to fool the Russians into believing their drones weren’t all intercepted by air defense systems.
>t. future cannonfodder destined to die for a balding midget's delusional power fantasy aka you.
You would be wrong in assuming this. I‘m neither from the US nor from Russia.
We've literally had this kind of drone technology since at least the late 80s, 40 years ago. This is literally an example of something that people literally just didn't think of, or try to do.
Is it effective? Looks like it. It seemd to me that it exists in that frustrating middle ground where small arms fire is ineffective and dedicated AA is overkill
So all Ukraine has to do is surround Kyiv with spotters and machine gunners? Why arent they doing that?
Gepards work really well against them, evidenced by decreased success from them.
Still, airdefense has limited range, and if you program enough weird routes to stationary targets such as power plants, they will get some use. Militarily, not so much effect though.
It's not particularly effective considering they're slow, capable of being shot down by any SPAAG or MANPAD, and have CEP measured in city blocks. They work by virtue of saturation, which isn't very efficient against a land mass the size of Ukraine possessing layered air defence. In context of their manufacturer, they's designed as a low-tech compliment to a missile barrage against military bases, Saudi oil refineries, and Israeli cities where just hitting the target can cause disruptions.
I‘ve seen them hit individual transformer units/sub distribution stations. Don’t fool yourself. Radar or IR detection is barley possible and certainly no lock on. Once there is any fog or low clouds the visual systems are blind. They are slow and loud, but very dangerous.
>This is literally an example of something that people literally just didn't think of, or try to do.
I rememver downing swarms of things like these in Comanche 4
I wonder what would happen if chinks took this concept and engineeredmaxxed the frick out of the design, and produced it at an industrial scale.Imagine a million of these things hitting every mildly valuable target in Taiwan.
If they can be made for under 5k a pop, then you'd win the economic war of attrition even if they get shot down by a missile or airbursting AA. It would be so cheap you could use them against basic infrastructure, or even small shops.
They fly too slow for rockets, but AA guns frick these things right up. Funniest part is when vatBlack folk say "but bullets fall back down hurr durr" and underline how stupid they are. The Iranians that were helping Russia use the shahads we're HIMAR'd, and Russia stopped using them, which is why le sky Doritos memes died.
Considering their cost and spice and all that they are extremely effective. Problem is that they are not an overall game changer. Still, they'll teach other countries a lesson about cheaper options for strike packages.
it doesn't matter whether it works or not
you do realize the goal is to fix the issues before they fulfill their real purpose (Tel Aviv) ?
so it's a win either way
I think they're good for minor, undefended targets you shouldn't be wasting expensive missiles on, the US could have used something like this instead of drone-launched missiles in the middle east to great effect
Nobody said it’s just drone shahed 136 and on top of it the true numbers are unknown.
It’s alleged that depending on the variant shahed 36 come in at about 7.000-20.000.
Honestly probably one of the dumbest moves by Iran so far.
They exploited a defense flaw that modern militraries had due to aircraft moving to high and fast flight plus being limted and expensive becoming the standard.
They are easy to counter but no one bothered trying due to not enough threat to be worth the investment so now the time window to exploit that vulnerability is known and is closing.
So now they blew thier trump card and by the time they actually need them everyone will probably have deployed hard and cheap counters IE SHORAD gun systems.
They're meant to be used in swarms, with some making it through and hitting their target. It's not too dissimilar to firing artillery, most of which miss. Unlike artillery, these work by satellite navigation so they're far more efficient and obviously have better range. Even those that get shot down cost valuable air defense ammo.
Highly effective against playgrounds and servos
This, every single russian missile strike ever fired has missed its target and ukraine has taken no losses.
This Ukrainians are just switching all their lights out and taking cold showers to fool the Russians into believing their drones weren’t all intercepted by air defense systems.
>I somehow consider sperg out terroristic drone strikes on civilian infrastructure as noteworthy military accomplishments.

good morning sir
So a Pajeet then?
They are literally countered by machine guns + sandBlack person drones can't stand cold weather
So all Ukraine has to do is surround Kyiv with spotters and machine gunners? Why arent they doing that?
That's exactly what they're doing but with MANPADS
We are doing exactly this. Except most of the time machinegunners sit in 3CУ-23-4M-A1
Do you have electricity blackouts?
Did Ukraine repel the red army away from Bakhmut with no electricity?
Yes, but I'm ready even to return to monke if it means russia is finally dead after >400 years of oppression
How does Dennis find time to finish his nurse training when he's busy making these threads all day?

Any footage of them used against military targets on the front?
nope. Only stationary targets. They are preprogrammed, so if you move stuff, they miss.
>Gepards work really well against them
Not from the footage available.

They've also used them on civilian ships in port. It's more of a tantrum weapon than a terror weapon.
I‘ve seen them hit individual transformer units/sub distribution stations. Don’t fool yourself. Radar or IR detection is barley possible and certainly no lock on. Once there is any fog or low clouds the visual systems are blind. They are slow and loud, but very dangerous.

MAN what a game
Shit I'm going to find a way to reinstall this
Literally? Like literally. Just totally literally. Gb2r
They were highly successful in destroying stationary undefended targets but they seem to shit the bed as soon as you deploy a little bit of AA
What does it say?
It's about the ghost of /k/iev
What does he do?
blows russian minds.
And those of rational and logically thinking people everywhere.
It's a german termination letter to Mr. Smirnov. No reasons given.

Didn't the guys on this photo actually kill the thing though? Kinda weird choice nate
didnt you guys trade like 2 dozen real airplanes for some shit that can be taken down with birdshot?
kek, they really do sound like lawnmowers. about as effect as lawnmowers too
>KAMIKAZE KAMIKAZE KAMIKAZE

Size, not spice. Fricking phone posters get the rope.

you again
Can you elaborate?
I think they're good for minor, undefended targets you shouldn't be wasting expensive missiles on, the US could have used something like this instead of drone-launched missiles in the middle east to great effect
>muh low price
Russia bought 17.000 drones from Iran for 24 su35s. That ends up being something like $175.000 per drone.
Nobody said it’s just drone shahed 136 and on top of it the true numbers are unknown.
It’s alleged that depending on the variant shahed 36 come in at about 7.000-20.000.
>Does modern AA counter it?
Modern - no, a few decades old - yes.
why do they use english letters for an iranian drone?
They aren’t HIMARS but they’ll frick some shit up
Specifically ice cream stands, playgrounds, hospitals, used car lots, your tax accountant, and any vacant field you can think of
Like with this whole suicide drone thing I never got the point. It's just a worse cruise missile.
It's a lot cheaper.

You can tell they're successful by the sheer amount of butthurt they cause.
