Some fudds say they're on par with old 870 Wingmasters. Not sure about that. But they rival 500 moss without a doubt. Underrated gun, but no aftermarket. Cool rotary bolt design tho.

        >action is easy to rack fast
        >rotating bolt would help making it a little bit more accurate than most pump-shotguns when fitted with a rifled barrel for slugs
        >Duke Nukem's shotgun of choice
        It's a good shottygun.

An option for a length of rail on the receiver wouldn't be bad for those who are looking for a slug gun, though I'd honestly want a bayonet lug more than anything else.
A "Shockwave" style option would be nice too.

They were ok a decade ago, all turkshit since.

They're outsourcing them to Turks now? Aww man.

SXP serie yeah. But they are nothing like OP's discontinued 1300s.

            >But they are nothing like OP's discontinued 1300s.
They aren't quite as smooth feeling and they are limited to 5+1 rounds for import reasons, but aside from that, they are basically identical, aside from the larger slide release which is actually quite nice. I owned both, and only sold the SXP because I preferred the blued finish of the 1300.

And aside from the softer shit steel, and bad QC.
Other then that the turkchesters are about the same as the old WINchesters

      >Some fudds say they're on par with old 870 Wingmasters
They're better. Old 870's are the gold standard of pump shotguns but there is something about the extra smooth double arm action and rotating locking bolt, m16 style, of the Winchester Defender. It's super smooth and just feels like a million bucks to rack. They also look great.
For new manufactured pump guns, I'd pick a 590a1 every time followed by the Turkshit SXP followed by the basic 500. I wouldn't buy a new Remington. Maybe they've fixed the quality issues but time will have to tell first.

I've got a Winchester 1894 (made 1972), 1897 (made 1941), 1912 (made 1948), model 1300 (made 1990) and recently I finally got a Defender which was a police trade-in from Skaneateles, NY Police Department that somehow made it's way to a Cabelas in southern Ohio. It's beat to shit and I'm working on refinishing it, wood furniture ordered.

I also had a Winchester M1 Garand but sold it. It just wasn't my thing.

        That's not a model 12

Model 12's are not usually had in a Defender configuration. I've never seen one anyway. They also weigh 6.5 lbs empty, it feels more like 8 lbs. You can slam fire them and you break them down into 2 parts. Both are cool features but they're collector guns at this point. They're built like tanks and you can use them for defense of course but they aren't like the tactical shotguns.
        >How does it compare to a similar 1300?
It's a frick tone heavier but you can slam fire it. That said I don't know anyone that would abuse a model 12 like that. Mine is 82 years old.
