Russians jamming their own communications

Russian signal jammers are so incompetent and so scared of getting shelled that they hide in the back of convoys and jam the communications of their own army

What Mangushev EW he’s talking about?

          Anonymous

It’s Igor Mangushev. He’s the guy who was filmed waving around a Ukie skull in Mariupol. He’s apparently the commander of the UAV counteraction group of the L/DPR

It’s probably nothing special, he’s just the guy who is actually trying to sort out the problem and not just jamming everything from behind the lines. I’d assume most Ukie drones at the squad/platoon/company level would be commercial quadcopters, so vulnerable to jerry-rigged solutions.

This is 2015 rant by russian Duma deputy Alexandr Luchin
      >There has been a lot of speculation lately about a "Russian invasion of Ukraine". The "experts on the couch" are especially trying. Let me remind you that the Russian army has been "invading" Ukraine for 7 years, but it still does not "invade". The Russian invasion still needs to be earned, but just like that, for free, the Russians do not invade anywhere.
      >In this regard, I want to describe to you the real signs of the "Russian invasion".

      >The first sign is the failure of all means of communication, the complete discharge of batteries in vehicles, tanks and other equipment, at the same time the discharge of batteries in mobile phones, in sights, in radio stations. Then there is a break in electrical circuits in all equipment - any. This is EMI. All engines are turned off, there is no way to start them. This is how the Khingan system works.

      >The second is the complete failure of all systems using liquid crystal monitors, the failure of all target designating devices of the air defense system - the radars are dying. The Altair system is in operation.

      >The third one is refusals when trying to use any type of guided weapon - from MANPADS to ATGMs. When you try to use the shells, they self-destruct immediately ... This is the "Mercury" system - now every Russian battalion has such a system.

      >Fourth, it is impossible to use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). They either fall, with the failure of the navigation systems and the engine, or sit down at the location of the Russians. The Krasukha-4 system disables the on-board equipment of airplanes and any other aircraft. The Avtobaza system intercepts control of drones.

        part 2/2 : artillery STRONK:
        >Not everyone will have time to see and understand the fifth sign. This is the phenomenal accuracy of artillery fire from a distance inaccessible to artillery in most countries of the world. Artillery reconnaissance and guidance stations of the Russian army operate via satellites and their own drones. The Russians have modernized the shells, they are now in Russia with a homing system, they have become longer and carry more explosives.
        >Dozens (hundreds, if necessary) of combat helicopters, riding all the roads, begin to hunt in the rear for armored vehicles, trains, and cars. The railway was paralyzed, arrows were broken, bridges were blown up.
        >Behind enemy lines, the lights go out completely and electricity is cut off - substations are broken. Civilian and military headquarters in the rear and individual leaders are liquidated at a time by infiltrated groups in advance.

        >And just then...
        >Thousands of fighters descend from the sky - assault battalions of the Airborne Forces and special forces of the GRU ... and the invasion begins.

You can not jam enemy without jaming your forces too. Jaming also very visible to enemy so they have to deploy deep behind their lines or will get himarsed.

the russian infantry is just iq 80 and dont understand that there are more important things than their own regiment,

      >You can not jam enemy without jaming your forces too.
lmao. literally step one of jamming anything is to coordinate with other parties which frequencies to jam, when to jam them, what frequencies need to stay up no matter what, and what frequencies will be used to call off or adjust the jamming if needed. 95% of the usable frequency being denied doesn't matter if your forces know which 5% to use and when.

        Anonymous

This, the best possible way to do it is keep changing which frequencies are open on a schedule that everyone knows, catch is that means the left hand needs to know what the right is doing and that isn't the Russia way.

    You honestly cant blame them.
They bought a big expensive jammer machine so they need to use it. You receive the order and what can you do? you go to the spot (but no too close to the frontline thats scary) and jam fricking everything in front of you, russian assault groups included. You know that you are messing with your comrades and they are probably dying, but they gave you an order and if you dont do it you are dead/ go to prison/ next bahkmut human wave.

In a functional military you would tell your CO that it's moronic and if he insisted you would tell his boss it's moronic.
But as they are Russian you are right, the best possible thing for them to do is follow orders and never question them.

unfortunately the cheap aliexpress drones have little in the way of counter-jamming unlike military drones

        Anonymous

I wish. Our AeroVironment drones (not gonna say the models here) were pretty much useless and even lost because of russian EW. Some commercial and manually tuned diy solutions can actually work better under enemy’s EW.

they also jam our Motorola radios quite effectively, when enabled. Only rare Harris radios could still operate under such jamming. although we have scraps of what NATO armies have in terms of comms, but at least commercial Starlink solutions save us a lot

    >HURR DURR RUSSIA JAMMED THEIR OWN COMMS

imagine being this moronic that forgot that russia used off the shelf walkie talkies for 4 months and they didnt use EW because of this.......

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's talking about the forces which assaulted the Hostomel area. They were blanketed by their own EW and it's been proposed their weird tight columns, that made them one giant target for ATGMs, were a result of having little radio contact in certain areas and needing to keep LOS on commanders to stop units getting lost. I'd say it's overly charitable, but it is one explanation.

Remeber at the very start when they were using mobile phones more than radios and when they started bombing mobile towers it destroyed their comms, good times.

I keep seeing these threads over and over and over again. All pro Ukraine saying the Russians are stupid and drunk. Everyone knows the Russians are stupid and drunk doesn't mean Ukraine is winning. Ukraine is winning so much that they need new weapons every 3 seconds. The javelins now we have tanks the highmar. Every damn day those winning ukrainians need new weapons to defeat the Russians that are totally losing badly and so badly that the ukrainians need new weapons. At some point people are going to figure out that this is a scam

      >winter comes and everything stops
      >people on both sides keep tying to make a big deal out of tiny towns becuase they are the only place the front is moving
I can see how Russia was winning for the early war, even after the push on Kiev failed they still held a lot of Ukraine.
Explain to be why you still think Russia is winning today?
      >Ukraine is asking for weapons
      So is Russia.

because they never get enough to finish that war quicker. ~20 himars aint enough, they need 100+ with atacms, 500 mbt not 50, 1000+ ifv not 200, nato no-fly zone not migs with duct taped harms, etc. and there are inevitable losses on top of that so ofc they always ask for more, moron

      >Everyone knows the Russians are stupid and drunk doesn't mean Ukraine is winning.
Ukraine is winning BECAUSE Russians are stupid and drunk....and ill-equipped...and malnourished....and freezing...and low on ammo...and demoralized...and mismanaged by crooked halfwits led by greedy Jooish oligarchs led by sycophantic yes-men led by a nibilistic dadbodded manlet with brain cancer and parkinsons.
Even Ukraine -- as fricked up as it is -- cannot lose to an enemy this incompetent.
Now imagine how fricked Russia would be if they had to fight someone who wasn't an economically backwards post-soviet shithole?

      > Ukraine is winning so much that they need new weapons every 3 seconds.
Russia is winning so hard they've had to call in 300,000 moar mooks, buy tons of stale ammo from the Norks, and buy flying doritos from Durka Durkas. They are "winning" so hard that their airforce doesn't dare intrude on Yook airspace for fear of losing the rest of their last Su-35's.
