Russian Tactics

Can someone explain to me what the exact point is with Russia attacking Kiev, Leopolis and Zaporizhzhia

I mean they’re struggling to hold the frontlines as is, I mean do they not have legitimate targets on their own frontlines?!

Im getting reminded of the Germans attacking British cities in WW2 after switching from bombing military targets. Which let the RAF have a reprieve and go on the offensive, and eventually beat the invader.

Does Russia think theyre going to break Ukrainian morale now? …just two more weeks guys

I'm more interested in where they're even coming from.
75 missile strikes so far, over a few hours. You'd expect a response of some kind.

      Unironically yes.

Strategic bombers launching from way, WAY beyond the frontlines. Which explains the accuracry or the lack of it.

Strategic bombers firing from over Astrakhan for some reason.
The pilots must be confused as well.

    >V-weapons, known in original German as Vergeltungswaffen (German pronunciation: [fɐˈgɛltʊŋsˌvafṇ], German: "retaliatory weapons", "reprisal weapons"), were a particular set of long-range artillery weapons designed for strategic bombing during World War II, particularly strategic bombing and/or aerial bombing of cities.[1][2] They were the V-1, a pulsejet-powered cruise missile; the V-2, a liquid-fueled ballistic missile (often referred to as V1 and V2); and the V-3 cannon. All of these weapons were intended for use in a military campaign against Britain, though only the V-1 and V-2 were so used in a campaign conducted 1944–45. After the invasion of Europe by the Allies, these weapons were also employed against targets on the mainland of Europe, mainly France and Belgium. Strategic bombing with V-weapons killed approximately 18,000 people, mostly civilians. The cities of London, Antwerp and Liège were the main targets.[3][4]

    >They were part of the range of the so-called Wunderwaffen (superweapons, or "wonderweapons") of Nazi Germany.

tl;dr: impotent seething from russia as they're getting cucked on all fronts, all they can do is sow terror and death on civies in revenge

It's good that this is what it reminds you of, because this is exactly what it is.

It's honestly like watching a parody of both the Blitz and the opening salvoes in Desert Storm. The volume of missiles is nowhere near comparable to the amount of ordinance being dropped on cities in single days during WWII. They're hitting powerplants, after the war has begun, in the middle of the day and they seem to have not managed to completely knock out the grid given the amount of social media posts. So we've got a neutered terror bombing campaign and for some reason they're still trying to emulate that opening salvo, so I can only imagine they don't understand the purpose of it. Fricking hitting international corporations is the cherry on top though.

What are they thinking, lmao? Genuinely how fricking moronic could they be?

The only thing that can come to mind is revenge for them leaving Russia and to try to get them to leave Ukraine but it's fricking baffling because it's one thing for them to be voluntarily leaving Russia, be it for economic or moral reasons, it's going to be an entirely different thing when you've attacked them directly. Hitting the Samsung HQ was absolutely fricking beyond moronic even compared to the terror bombing angle.

The building also had natural gas firms and the German consulate apparently so maybe that was the target? that doesn't make sense either because now they're escalating it into direct attacks on noncombatant foreigners.

My best guess is they want to redirect Ukranian armed forces back to the western regions in a panic and retake ground in the east while also cutting off resupply. I'm not really sure why they think that'll work because the ukranian rear gaurd is plenty sufficient to repel whatever Russia sends there. It looks like they just caused a bunch of property damage, killed some random civvies and pissed off a lot of people for no particular reason other than to spread terror, which also doesn't really make sense because these people literally saw Russian columns a couple miles from Keiv like half a year ago so they probably won't be shaken by barely directed cruise missile attacks at seemingly random locations in their capital.
