Russian land bridge to Crimea soon to be cut

Wow, it's actually going to happen. Expect another "good will gesture" retreat soon.

Belarus is also tightening it's border with Russia. I expect a complete closer when the offensive starts. Potato in chief knows how to survive.

i'm more worried that ukrainian civilians who werent able to make it out are being taken as hostages. i'm not sure how many russians were moved in, but ukrainian ironically have more value as hostages held at/near important sites like ammo dumps and artillery.

I'm not saying it's a good thing or that I like it, but I feel on a gut level that unlike Putin, Luka still has an exit avenue, that if he remodels himself as some reformer statesman the EU will accept him rather than dealing with a whole other crisis, or that if he just fricks off into cushy retirement he might actually avoid a noose unless some asshurt assassin personally infiltrates his dacha

He's hedged his bets way too carefully since this shit started, and I know he's allied with Russia but his habit of being the worst fricking ally possible looks more calculated every day when in February 2022 he seemed to have everything to gain, yet (wisely in hindsight) hesitated anyway

I don't think they'll give up the land bridge to Crimea. That could only be a prelude to a relative quick defeat. Maybe they're retreating a little bit to buy some to dig in deeper in more defensible positions. I can't imagine Puccia giving up Melitopol, but if it happens the war is pretty much finished. Crimea and everything west of Melitopol would be a boiling cauldron (lol).

      >but if they give up Melitopol how the frick do they hold Crimea
Crimea's supplied from the rear. In fact Melitopol is basically the endpoint of the eastern and southern supply lines. It's where they converge. Its defense has frick all to do with Crimea except as a road block to a push against coastal positions where they might fire on the bridge.

That said, they don't hold Crimea.

It's the other way around. Slavic slave trade was so big, their name became synonymous with slavery in greek (sklavos) and then spread around into other languages, like arab (saqalib) and french (esclave), from which modern english "slave" derived.
Swedish word for slave is thrall, not slave.
