Russian fortifications impassable?

Russia has prepared literally thousands of kilometers of fortifications and dug trenches along the entire front line in the last six months. Does the Ukrainian army have any chance at all of breaking through the Russian defenses? In my opinion, it is simply impossible. Even the most advanced Western equipment (Leopard, Bradley etc.) may be powerless, and instead of a quick offensive we will see very long and bloody battles, only this time, unlike the battles for Bakhmut and Soledar, the Ukrainian forces, as the advancing side, will lose far more men and equipment than the Russian forces. Or am I wrong?

There will like like what, 30 Challengers? And teeth are still slowing them down, which is their main purpose. And what about the trenches? Russia has a literal network of them all the way from Luhansk to Crimea.

You didn't get the footage that much? It was slow for the camera, and was also demonstrating how it could make better defences just by driving straight ahead with a dozer blade down.

Network is a weird way to describe random ass trenches on the beaches of Crimea.

This is some Mannerheim Line-style defence here. How could tanks and IFVs even cross through these?

Comments like these are a criminal defamation of the Russian army and Putin's brother in law who supplied these state of the art fortifications.
To win against the British you have to think like them: These teeth look fine.

the russian anti-tank obstacles were ordered from a kremlin connected oligarch who owned a concrete factory.. as a result, the teeth are made out of recycled paper mache

You're right, it's impossible. They should ignore those defenses and attack Russia itself with everything they have. Burn as many Russian cities as humanly possible until the horde realizes its warboss ran to China and the flow of drugs and vodka to Ukraine is about to be cut off. What's left of the Russian "army" will be detoxing and going through withdrawals by the time it either turns back home to save what's left of its mighty empire or gets prodded by barrier troops to slowly advance into minefields and killzones. Ukraine can drop bottles of vodka loaded with rat poison into Russian trenches and the rest will see to itself.

    Yeah, you're wrong.

The fortifications sucked from the very beginning, (Idiot hollow pyramids) but then were further (mis) built by literal partisans who changed the layouts of trenches and stuff to be stupid, who documented everything and sent it to HQ. Russian reservists have been sent off those defensive lines to bolster Belgorod and Bakhmut of all things, which has been a bit of a permanent change as every time there are big troop movements, it causes a concentration that gets the ire of Himars. Ukraine has held this kind of directing initiative over the RF for pretty much the start of the year and has caused so much chaos and attrition the mere hint of offensive guard showing up is going to have Russians fleeing or trying to string enough toilet paper together for a white flag. They have behaved like this with regular defensive forces recently.

      >Yeah, you're wrong.
I hope I am, but why are all OSINT-people and military analysts (like, say, Michael Kofman) saying that it will be extremely hard for AFU to make it to Melitopol or even Tokmak?

Because that's their job? They are describing the situation Ukrainians had to consider and strategise around, not the situation post-strategy that Ukrainians have figured out. Their job is to inform the layman about layman things and keep the public discourse at a stunted level. In fact that's even your purpose, to bring the conversation and thought back to a paint of around six months ago. There were developments enough then to determine Russians were going to melt in the face of a proper counter-offensive though.

So, that's just a worst case scenario, and Ukraine may actually be able to push through these lines?

            Anonymous

It's not a "worst-case scenario" it's an attempt to very broadly inform the public of a limiting consideration for Ukraine. Free of even the more obvious move Ukraine has made to mitigate the situation. "Discussion points" hardly determine reality. Of course they can push thorough defensive lines after it is ensured they are hardly defended at all, and mostly by a terrified, under equipped and underfed rabble sitting in trenches that fill with effluent and are plagued with mosquitos and rats, at best, and anthrax and old unexploded ordinance from world war 2 at worst.

The Ukranian army can't even hold their own defenses, let alone breakthrough Russian defenses in a manner that matters strategically and allows them to take back territory

Launching raids behind enemy lines is cool until the lines keep moving westward

Not if done right. The Maginot Line forced Germany to attack AROUND it because it was incomplete. Various WWI forts withstood amazing bombardment.
