It could have stored ammunition/explosives and there was an artillery gun attached for some reason. To high risk the tank gets damaged or stuck, you'd never want to do this in real life.
>It could have stored ammunition/explosives
Oh yes, by all means shooting it is the better option...
At the very least put the tank in the truck's way. It's a fricking truck; it's made of sheet metal, not RHA.
Russian tanks are small and not super heavy, it would just end up ramming and pushing it about a bit, they can't really run over things like the big western mbt

Are you really trying to imply they shouldn't be returning fire with whatever they've got left???
fricks sakes some of you people have zero common sense
Are those even Russians? Or were these just captured vehicles and they got attacked by their own?
I can't see why Russia would have any artillery lumbered driving anywhere that close to the frontline, that makes no sense.
Maybe they attempted to surrender?
I mean, the Ukrainians were lighting up every single vehicle that came past, if this was a case of blue on blue you'd think they would realize quicker. Plus there was Russian sniper and artillery fire 'covering' the convoy.
>What's the tactical advantage of driving a convoy right at enemy armor?
Well, it worked this time. I guess it makes sense if they knew the main gun was disabled (though I'm not sure how they'd know that)
>Well, it worked this time. I guess it makes sense if they knew the main gun was disabled (though I'm not sure how they'd know that)
I dont think there was anything wrong with the main gun. The probable cause was that it was out of ammunition. IIRC T-72 carries 22 and T-64/80 28 rounds in its autoloader. Stocking rounds elsewhere is a guarantee for an ammo explosion. Even the autoloader isnt safe because it doesnt protect the cartridges against metal droplet spray from a shaped charge penetration, its just less risky.
The russians were likely trying to rush the tank because they knew that it was out of ammunition. You can see it fire multiple times earlier in the clip. They almost got the tank commander because ukies and russians have yet to watch Black Hawk Down (something amerimutts also forgot in 2003). Unprotected pintle mounted MGs are sucide positions, thats why hummers have open topped turrets now instead of the simple ring MG they started the War On Terra with.
By the way, the only ones using gun shields for their pintle MGs in world war 2 were the germans.
The tank is being covered by nearby infantry, you can see rounds hitting the driver's position of one of the trucks as it gets past the tank. I doubt that the convoy ultimately made it through.
>semi-flaccid
You might want to look up the meaning of that term, then re-watch the video. Then run a 100 meter dash naked with a full hard on. I think you'll develop a new appreciation for "flopping around."
In T-64/T-72/80, if the pitching of the tank is detected to be more then 8.5deg/s the stabilizer disengages and the gun flops around to protect the stabilizer motor
It looked like the 2nd truck made it through, but when the tank reverses you can clearly see it's stopped on the road. My guess is that the first truck didn't get very far either. Still wild to just drive at them like that. I wonder what their end goal was.

Ah yes, the Cossacks. I watched a documentary about them.
Real badasses, the antis to the shithole of the regimen of Russia.
I´d imagine in a clusterfrick like that you have better situational awareness outside of hatch rather than inside the turret of T-64 for tank commanding situations, also the RWS optics and controls must be genuine 70s slavjank.
So might as well engage with the NSVT manually when you are already out there.
This is like gameplay footage but in real life >commander - what the frick are you noobs doing, don't drive towards tanks supported by infantry by yourselves! MORONS
Well that was a cluster frick. I guess good to know Kherson footage is starting to hit. Means there will actually be some news when I wake up tomorrow.
WTF is happening in this vid.
Tank don't shoot main gun - ok there is friendly inf near. Maybe. But why the frick russian trucks are charging tank with howitzers strapped ? That shot in end hiting Dsh, gunner sould play lotto or some shit as it was his lucky day.. Artillery working on all of this. WTF is doing that MTLB at end. C H A O S
>WTF is happening
It's an arty battery retreating, but nobody told'em their route has been cutoff. >why the frick russian trucks are charging tank with howitzers strapped ?
runinng through is their only option fro survivial
Potentially it did. Driver dead at the wheel would explain why the truck continued to accelerate at a tank until infantry fire killed the engine block, maybe?
we have seen similar reactions by the russians in hostomel, kharkiv and now kherson. some of these dudes REALLY do not want to get surrounded or caught and are ready to risk death to escape.
it’s as if they know they aren’t supposed to be in ukraine and that they’ve pissed them off to no end.
Seems like the infantry fire and/or running out of road brought them to a stop and then the Ukrainians got the frick out of dodge because that artillery looked like it had them zeroed. The video is just chaos all around though so your guess is as good as mine.
>Turned out >Under small arms fire >Weapon isn't functioning >Gun in front of you is hit more than once >Main gun not in use >Still just sat there not really doing anything
Dude is fricking lucky to be alive and nearly caught a bullet for no good reason.
We need a montage in chronological order to see better why the commander's Dshk wasn't used properly to light up those soft skin vehicles. He should have pasted the driver of that truck.
[...] >Two shots aimed at him hit his gun
that's pretty fricking lucky
Pretty crazy bit of shooting, got to figure he's moving relatively fast and more or less hit a head-sized bit of the gun more or less by accident than design
Shit, I'd be pretty wired knowing someone's scoping me down range with that kind of accuracy!
I wonder how many vatnik lives that sniper saved by cooking off the ammo box, since that guy was in absolutely prime position to light up every single truck as it came past.
Some of the BEST tankist kino from the war, with some of the WORST editing.
>Beating enemy infantry with the MG >Sniper tries to zip you, hits your ammo instead and it starts cooking >Have to try and dump the burning ammo over the side before it can cook off further >Trying to indicate to others that no, the trucks coming down the road are not in fact friendly, and to kindly blast 7 shades of shit out of them >Same sniper is still trying to kill you and skips a round off the top cover of your MG >Still fighting head out to keep situational awareness
What in the name of Khorne's fricking skull throne is this shit? What do you even do in this situation?
It's all anus-puckering crossfire and heavy weapons that weren't meant to be shot at close ranges, mixed with a potential for tank-based vehicular homicide.
I'd be extremely surprised if there was an military officer in existence that had a response for "your tank convoy runs into, and gets hopelessly tangled with, a retreating enemy convoy".
>I'd be extremely surprised if there was an military officer in existence that had a response for "your tank convoy runs into, and gets hopelessly tangled with, a retreating enemy convoy".
This happened during Barbarossa at one point. A panzer column was so far ahead that it caught up with and got mixed up in a retreating Soviet column as they moved through a city. Soviet citizens cheered the tanks, thinking they were friendly at first.
The panzer commander even made contact with his Soviet counterpart, and decided to get their forces separated rather than shoot.
>military officer in existence that had a response for "your tank convoy runs into, and gets hopelessly tangled with, a retreating enemy convoy"
Only the most famous panzer commander ever

Just a reminder Ukraine is running out of tank shells they get about 30 per tank (according to an interview), which more than what the Russians get (which is usually around 20)
>Just a reminder Ukraine is running out of tank shells they get about 30 per tank
so they are getting more than T-72/T-80 can carry? What magic is that?
>(which is usually around 20)
With what I've seen of the rusty-ass Soviet surplus shells they get and how they're stored, that's probably a blessing in disguise as far as survivability goes.
shit i guess either the gunner was worried about danger close or the main gun jammed
either way, the commander is lucky the heavy MG stopped a bullet from hitting him, he kept his cool but i think it wouldve been better if he dived back into the tank
On one hand, I'm mad at russians for starting this war and creating living hell and economic crisis for so many people.
On the other hand, I love the entertainemnt I get from it watching all this shit online.
>Kamikaze drones >Kamikaze drivers
Sasuga Russia, though seriously that tank commander should let them use the main gun unless it was out or he at least needs better aim on that DshK what a shit show on both sides

that cannot possibly be right, you are driving AT the enemy here
Is the coax engaging?
Also just ram the fricker? What is this crew doing.
It was but it looks like it took a round to the ammo and started cooking off, gunner ditched it.
The DsHK is on the Commander's pintle mount. And yes the ammo can took a round.
The Coax is the 7.62 alongside the main gun.
Perhaps the gunner was too busy trying to unfrick the autoloader
My fault, misread the post.
Holy frick that dude was saved by a bullet hitting the fricking dust cover.
What a time to run out of ammo or for the reloader on the tank to jam.

>Unprotected pintle mounted MGs are sucide positions
I learned this from videogames. Can't believe it's still a thing.
The tank is being covered by nearby infantry, you can see rounds hitting the driver's position of one of the trucks as it gets past the tank. I doubt that the convoy ultimately made it through.
>all those added gunfire/cannon noises
please stop
Does the T72 not have a main gun stabilizer?
Damn thing is flopping around like a semi-flaccid penis in a 100m dash.
>semi-flaccid
You might want to look up the meaning of that term, then re-watch the video. Then run a 100 meter dash naked with a full hard on. I think you'll develop a new appreciation for "flopping around."
>Damn thing is flopping around like a semi-flaccid penis in a 100m dash
In T-64/T-72/80, if the pitching of the tank is detected to be more then 8.5deg/s the stabilizer disengages and the gun flops around to protect the stabilizer motor
i think its reloading the main gun, if i remember correctly it needs to be at a particular elevation to reload
these russian truck drivers look like they were pumping some serious adrenaline kek
hope they made it
In what situation do you drive your truck face-to-face to at least two enemy tanks?
It looked like the 2nd truck made it through, but when the tank reverses you can clearly see it's stopped on the road. My guess is that the first truck didn't get very far either. Still wild to just drive at them like that. I wonder what their end goal was.
>Hurrr T-72
>Durrrrr Dshk
I want you fricking morons to know weapons before coming to this board.
>tfw no v-day
Hey, that's my city!
Where should I go if I visit there?
Catacombs tour is pretty cool.
Depends on what are you interested in, obiously
Cossacks Cemetery in Usatove.
They were the ones who dug up those
catacombs.
idk dude that sounds lame lmao.
I thought Odessa has the best sex workers in Russia
>the most rode hard and put up wet women in the most AIDS-ridden shithole that's not Africa
I don't know about you, but that's kind of the opposite of sexually appealing
I don't mind having it off with a decent Russian girl, they look super cute, but their prossies, no thank you
>Not wanting to see burial place of the Nerubai Cossacks of Sotnikovska Sich
>The descendants of fierce warriors that defeated the Ottomans and joined the Black Sea coast, Steppes of the South, Northern Caucasus and Crimea into the Russian Empire.
>The ones who laid down their weapons and took the kail in their hands and started mining limestone to build a port city on the Black Sea.
>Not wanting to see tunnels left after limestone mining, famous Odesa catacombs shrouded in legends.
You are not welcomed in Odesa schmuck.
Imagine paying for sex, lmao. What a fricking incel.
Ah yes, the Cossacks. I watched a documentary about them.
Real badasses, the antis to the shithole of the regimen of Russia.
This would've been this war's ultimate kino but we'll never get to see it...
i had my doubts
btw, the commander was operating the weapon manually, but i thought the heavy MG on the T-64 was remotely operated, what gives?
I´d imagine in a clusterfrick like that you have better situational awareness outside of hatch rather than inside the turret of T-64 for tank commanding situations, also the RWS optics and controls must be genuine 70s slavjank.
So might as well engage with the NSVT manually when you are already out there.
So you CAN manually operate the heavy MG if needed?
This is like gameplay footage but in real life
>commander - what the frick are you noobs doing, don't drive towards tanks supported by infantry by yourselves! MORONS
You want to surrender and the chance they are so surprised that you survive!
Well that was a cluster frick. I guess good to know Kherson footage is starting to hit. Means there will actually be some news when I wake up tomorrow.
Frickin radical.
wonder if that was some kind of tactical recognition signal
or if he's really just dabbing on the soon-to-die lmao
It's not a thumbs up.
It's a "forward" symbol. All 4 fingers are pointing forward.
maybe it's picrel
>"The Last Duel: Ukraine Edition".
Somebody edit in a pair of medieval lances on the respective vehicles.
key thanks anon saved and laughed
He asked the driver to drive closer so he could hit them with the sword
>out of ammo for MG and maingun
>DRIVE ME CLOSER SO I CAN HIT THEM WITH MY SWORD
tank shell: thousands of USD
conscript: sack of potatoes
the tank ran of ammunition, Russia's strategy is clearly working.
Crazy. Wonder why the gunner wasn't shooting their mg
>saved by a fricking box lid
why aren't there shields welded onto those guns?
because normally those guns are remotely controlled
Imagine the combat rush I wouldn't be able to stop geeking the rest of day
WTF is happening in this vid.
Why DSH or side troops fire didn't kill the truck driver?
Potentially it did. Driver dead at the wheel would explain why the truck continued to accelerate at a tank until infantry fire killed the engine block, maybe?
A Russian convoy squire took offense at a Ukrainian knight's better attire, so he stupidly challenging him to a medieval times duel.
The duel subsequently commenced. The convoy truck charged forward and so did the tank. Their lances are to be drawn at the last minute.
we have seen similar reactions by the russians in hostomel, kharkiv and now kherson. some of these dudes REALLY do not want to get surrounded or caught and are ready to risk death to escape.
it’s as if they know they aren’t supposed to be in ukraine and that they’ve pissed them off to no end.
So how exactly did it end? Did the trucks/MTLB surrender or were they destroyed?
Looks like Ukrainian infantry killed the Russian infantry when they tried to take on the tank.
Seems like the infantry fire and/or running out of road brought them to a stop and then the Ukrainians got the frick out of dodge because that artillery looked like it had them zeroed. The video is just chaos all around though so your guess is as good as mine.
pure chaos, war is the same since the first monkey threw shit at another one and chaos ensued
pretty insane vid
>Turned out
>Under small arms fire
>Weapon isn't functioning
>Gun in front of you is hit more than once
>Main gun not in use
>Still just sat there not really doing anything
Dude is fricking lucky to be alive and nearly caught a bullet for no good reason.
One question if left: why didn't the tank turn 90 degrees and block the road?
here's a more complete video of this shitshow
it's all cut to shit but it contains more footage
and the part in the OP video
>first seconds of the video the gun in front of the guy catches a bullet
Christ
Just like War Thunder
We need a montage in chronological order to see better why the commander's Dshk wasn't used properly to light up those soft skin vehicles. He should have pasted the driver of that truck.
The box that the ammo is in is on fire. He has to fling it off while the truck is driving up to them.
I think they all died anyway to the infantry ambush.
Jesus Christ this editing job was done by a 10 year old with ADHD
Every video edited by anyone in a military. You're not allowed to see a second of footage before a cut.
>Two shots aimed at him hit his gun
that's pretty fricking lucky
wheres the full thing
was the tank out of ammo? why didnt he fire at the trucks?
>"SLAVA UKRAINI, MOTHERFRICKER!"
As always, technology fails you when urgently needed.
Some of the BEST tankist kino from the war, with some of the WORST editing.
>Beating enemy infantry with the MG
>Sniper tries to zip you, hits your ammo instead and it starts cooking
>Have to try and dump the burning ammo over the side before it can cook off further
>Trying to indicate to others that no, the trucks coming down the road are not in fact friendly, and to kindly blast 7 shades of shit out of them
>Same sniper is still trying to kill you and skips a round off the top cover of your MG
>Still fighting head out to keep situational awareness
DAS IT MANE. DAS IT.
Why are they carrying so many cameras with them jesus, war influences is some shit.
>Why are they carrying so many cameras with them
All the better to film dead vatniks with, my dear.
Are snipers really deployed and taking shots like that in the field or is it a more colloquial usage of "sniped"
Yes, Russian snipers exist. They are among the best.
Russian sniper doctrine isn't even a sniper, they are designated marksmen.
Only the most famous panzer commander ever
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Wittmann
Ram your tank into their truck, pussy.
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
'Cross the DONETSK OBLAST
Holy kino.
Just a reminder Ukraine is running out of tank shells they get about 30 per tank (according to an interview), which more than what the Russians get (which is usually around 20)
Depends totally on the tank.
T-64/T-80 can hold 28 rounds in the autoloader.
T-72/90 can hold 22 rounds
I can't remember which tanks but it was from an interview conducted a while ago and the Ukie commander said they get around 30
>Just a reminder Ukraine is running out of tank shells they get about 30 per tank
so they are getting more than T-72/T-80 can carry? What magic is that?
Just put them on the floor
>(which is usually around 20)
With what I've seen of the rusty-ass Soviet surplus shells they get and how they're stored, that's probably a blessing in disguise as far as survivability goes.
>Wanting to have a full autoloader rack in a russian tank
shit i guess either the gunner was worried about danger close or the main gun jammed
either way, the commander is lucky the heavy MG stopped a bullet from hitting him, he kept his cool but i think it wouldve been better if he dived back into the tank
I think the main gun run out of ammo.
>being the tower in a tower defense game
Jesus fricking Christ
>remember comrade, we are only allowed to shoot back at the enemy if they block the road and there is no way to go around them.
On one hand, I'm mad at russians for starting this war and creating living hell and economic crisis for so many people.
On the other hand, I love the entertainemnt I get from it watching all this shit online.
Not using the main gun is the biggest blue balling I have had in a very long time.
This might be the most embarrassing tank crew ever, holy frick.
>Kamikaze drones
>Kamikaze drivers
Sasuga Russia, though seriously that tank commander should let them use the main gun unless it was out or he at least needs better aim on that DshK what a shit show on both sides
Nobody can complain about bad AI in video games anymore.
maximum clown land
what the frick
I dunno who's luckier, the commander not taking those two rounds, or the Russians in the convoy for not eating a shell from the main gun.
commander's alive
z-boys not so much after that hail of bullets from the infantry
