Its a CIA op that fizzled.

Russia snagged most of the heavily pro-Russian areas in 2014, proceeded to alienate a lot of people in those areas, and treated the population of areas they captured in the current war horribly. They basically killed any hope for collaborationists due to being moronic in how they operated, and are now resorting to pressganging DPR/LPK people.

That unit is formed from actual russians, not from russian speaking ukrainians.

apparently one of the first accounts of the massacre in bucha came from a russian volunteer

    no

    yes

They're not even in Azov, Azov are high tier nationalists, these are just skinheads from russia that hate Putin.

That kind of Russian volunteer used to be in Azov. They'd been spread across various TDF units, including Azov, since 2014. It was only recently that they were gathered into a Russian formation.

POWs who volunteered to collaborate with AFU or russians who were living outside of russia and decided to join the fight. they don't have a dedicated formation, and spread along existing groups

Bingo. Ukraine wisely scatters the Russians among Ukrainians.

They actually do have a dedicated formation in the Foreign Legion, and another in the TDF. The Freedom for Russia Legion is military defectors and Russian Expats from outside of Ukraine, the Russian Volunteer Corps is Russian Immigrants in Ukraine in the TDF.

Joe McDollars from the Dakota region here. Have locations or areas such units operate in? Perhaps have names? Genuinely curious, much obliged.

It is mostly fake, the only russian volunteers to Ukraine are unironically nazis that hate Putin because he killed/arrested some of their friends. I'm not even joking.
Only Bielorussians actually have battalions to fight against their regime

They are fighting for real, but I think they aren't trusted by other units, so no joint operations with others.

There are a small amount of Russians fighting for Ukraine but the guys you're posting about are made up FSB boogeymen.

Doubt they're more than a PR thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if they got the snowball rolling on something bigger.

Ask them yourself. Also I like the dissident white blue white flag, very aesthetic.

I don't like the symbolism much but I love how well it pairs with the original/dissident Byelorussian flag.

"Collaborationist" units are the ones servign Putin and the KGB clique.
You seem to be talking about the Russian resistance units.

I liked the part where the Russians fighting for Ukraine took the Ukrainians fighting for Russia prisoner.

That really drives how much of a clash between closely connected nations (albeit a genocidal one) this is.

      >"So, you're Ukrainian and fighting for Russia?"
      >"Yes."
      >"Cool! I'm Russian and fighting for Ukraine!"

Probably mostly a propaganda unit, due to the general inability to find trustworthy Russians who want to join. They can't just allow any POW in, and very few POWs would want to join in the first place after barely surviving getting their ass beat so hard. If they're actually operating it's in very small numbers, both because the unit is likely small and because they're much more valuable as an ideal than being used as cannon fodder.

It's ironic, they're the literal complete inverse of the Donbawbwaean units Russia is using.

That and even the Russians that have been captured so far still have families back home who might get ostracized or gulag'd if it came out that their sons essentially committed treason. I wouldn't be surprised if less than 1% of Russian POWs are joining this thing. Realistically, if you're a Russian POW, you're better off just sitting it out and waiting for a prisoner exchange.

That said if the war gets more desperate, and we have large scale surrenders from the Russians, we might get some modern day Vlasovtsy formations, which would be kino.

I'm more interested in the Belarusians, Georgians and Chechens on Ukraine's side tbh, they seem like more than just paper formations.

What have they been doing since the start of the war?

      Anonymous

      Lots tbh.
The Chechen and Georgian units have long been part of the AFU and they constantly recruit more people. The dead are treated like heroes at home.

I only saw that one video of the aloha snackbar Chechens fighting the Russians earlier in the war. I know the Georgians have been by far the largest international formation since 2014, but I'm not familiar with how these guys are deployed. Do they get deployed as independent formations or are they mixed and matched with other Ukie forces?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a CIA thing. Not a fuggin slavaboo so don't jump on my dick.
But this is kind of their thing. Then again, it may be a thing. They have a Wikipedia page and claim responsibility for the killing of Dugin's daughter. i don't recall any evidence for that claim

there aren't a lot of actual Russians fighting for the Ukraine.

mostly this is an internal political party to the RF.

basically a "white Russian" is against the war but may not actively participate against the Russian government.

their existence mostly highlights the corruption of the RF and how divided it actually is.

Larp-Legion made for propaganda purposes but they didn't catch on. I presume they expected the early-war clueless conscripts to get angry about their predicament, see the larp-legion as an out for such anger, and turn their weapons against the leaders that """"slighted"""" them. But it never happened.

Last time I heard about them, they were actively fighting, and had no shortage of volunteers. They also have an active telegram channel, and position themselves as militant wing of Russian opposition.

It's not unheard of for Russians to fight for Ukraine against Russia. They are Honorary Non-Vatniks, abandoning Un-Civilization.
