Russian Ammo Ban

The contracts with Russian ammo manufacturers will run out eventually, and there's no chance for reinstatement.
With that being said, who is going to pick up the demand for affordable steel cased ammo?
Is there a chance that one of the Russian companies will open a new plant in Eastern Europe?
Will another company rise up?

Have they mentioned anything about tooling up to make 7.62x39/5.45?
      All I've seen is speculation.

Hmm, some other stuff is a little cheaper today on ammoseek, but its kinda sketch (Russian underpressured partial reloads?, Tula). Otherwise, here:

      > Serbia
We already get Serbian 7.62x39 and it's not exactly cheap
      > Kazakhstan
We already have mutual trade agreements with them that disallow arms imports I think

That's Wolf Gold 5.56. Golden Tiger is made by the Vympel in the state-owned Amur Cartridge plant.

Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan... Basically all the former Soviet republics that still have Russian speaking populations and business dealings with that aren't under sanction. Plenty of other options for Warsaw Pact calibers that don't come from CSTO members though. Notably Bulgaria, Romania, and Serbia.

      they just banned wolf

Wolf is an American importer that sources their ammo from various factories around the globe, including Russia.

Ukraine's largest ammo manufacturer was the Lugansk Cartridge Works, which belongs to Russia now.

I know this is unrelated, but can someone riddle me this. I once house sat one weekend for an acquaintance. Long story short there was a break-in, i cleared the house with my AR15 and called the cops etc etc, nothing was stolen.

But he had me take his 2 ARs and keep them in my bedroom with me so they wouldnt get stolen. And i swear to god one of them.was chambered in 7.62x24 and he had a box of Golden Tiger 7.62x24mm for it

I know it wasnt 5.56, and it wasnt 7.62x51, it wasnt 7.62x39...so wtf was it /k/?? I would just ask him but we haven't spoke in years because im antisocial. I obviously dont remember it right, as no 7.62x24 exists. So what was it?? Its been my white whale for so long now

7.62x25 Tokarev ARs were a thing when surplus was pretty cheap and available, never seen any golden tiger tokarev ammo, though.

      Yeah

If it was a box of Golden Tiger but, not .223 or 7.62x39 I think that only leaves us with 5.45x39. A 5.45x39 upper would make sense.

Im not 100% sure on the second number, but i know the first one was 7.62. Because when i first saw it i chuckled about it being a x39 AR, then i noticed it was a caliber i had never seen before.

        maybe 7.62x25 tokarev

Could be. Hate to say i never even opened the box of shells to check out the rounds. It was all hectic with it being 3am and cops just leaving and having to be at work at 7.

Itll forever elude me im afraid

Now, hear me out, lads, but ...

    Mexico.

Some good ammo already comes from there, but some enterprising individuals who wanted to set up a great, legit export business from Mexico could do quite well. If a business strategy involved setting up several businesses to handle different aspects of the manufacture-to-supply chain, and those businesses were established in several countries ... The U.S. market is pretty hungry. Might as well build the factory nearby and shorten the supply chain. Invest in several profitable cartridge lines and dial in reliability, popular loads, accuracy/precision, bootstrap up with several cartridges, then expand into other calibres & loads as fast as possible. Sell in bulk boxes cheap in the U.S., also scope out overseas markets for opportunities. Good ammo cheap. Not good, cheap ammo.

    Opportunity's a-knockin' boys.
