Russia proposes peace yet again

Why should my tax dollars continued to be funneled into the corrupt regime of Zelenskyiv? It's about time the US, UK and rest of the West to stop fanning the flames of war that could have ended two years ago if not for Johnson's meddling in the negotiations.

        >Russian losses should be 10x less.
NTA, but as of December 2023 the US estimated Russian casualties at 315,000 (sauce: https://www.reuters.com/world/us-intelligence-assesses-ukraine-war-has-cost-russia-315000-casualties-source-2023-12-12/ )
Meduza (Russian language opposition media) Compared and analyzed the lists of names of (confirmed, admitted) dead Russian soldiers with data retrieved from Russia's Inheritance Case Registry to estimate that the total number of Russian Armed Forces combatants killed between the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022 and late 2023 is 75,000 men. That figure is an extremely low bound, as it's strictly limited to fatalities (i.e. no irretrievable losses from non-fatal wounds) and it excludes all Wagner or other PMCs, any Storm Z Penal battalion members, none of the LPR/Donbabwean irregulars and "volunteers", or -- crucially -- any Russian regular (contract soldier or mobik) that the Russian MoD declared as MIA rather than confirmed KIA.

Not exactly. Russia wants peace *negotiations* so that any future battlefield shifts in Ukraine's favor can be spun as "endangering the peace process". Putin still wants to annex the entire country; he's just accepted that he can't do it right now unless some third party hands him a win so that he can work on force regeneration.
      >FTA: "Putin has no designs on NATO territory"
Very poor timing on their messaging, since a whole two days ago Russia publicly declared that they were unilaterally altering their maritime borders with multiple NATO members (and then apparently removing all the naval boundary markers with Lithuania under cover of darkness).

They voted to join Russia, but israelitezinsky wouldn't let them.

        >but israelitezinsky wouldn't let them.
Zelensky wasn't even a politician then you fricking moron; and he got elected because he was pro-Russia and wanted to stop the Kievan oppression of Russian-language speakers in eastern Ukraine, and normalize relations with the Russian Federation. That's how Zelensky got his support base in eastern Ukraine and won the election you fricking buffoon. He's only "ebil wectoid NATO plant" because Muscovites chimped out like the subhumans they are and Zelensky and Ukraine took issue with that; so now you worse than scum zigger internet apologists need to push the ignorant narrative that Zelensky was anti-Russia for decades (despite him not being politically relevant until years AFTER the Crimean takeover).
        >They voted to join Russia
There used to be legitimate Crimeans posting on /k/ (probably expatriated by now or got mobik'd, sadly), and one described the referendum completely: the only options given to Crimeans in that referendum were:
        >Become an independent state (which they had no economic or legal framework to do)
        >Join the Russian Federation
There was no options given to return as a territory of Ukraine.
So no, Crimeans didn't vote for shit, they got invaded by subhuman orcs as usual, and you need to be strung up by the neck until you are dead for being a seditious enemy of the civilized world.

      >Expect increased terror, repression and stalinization going forward as the hidden internal disfunction manifests itself in reality.
      Also on this:

      >Ostensibly an effort to stamp out military corruption, the Federal Security Service (FSB) is going after high-ranking generals in hopes of pinning the blame for the botched 2022 invasion of Ukraine on the military’s top brass and taking control of the distribution of the army’s vast budget — all with the Kremlin’s tacit approval ... “There is a fierce cleanup underway. The FSB is mopping up [former Defense Minister Sergei] Shoigu's team. It’s to be expected. This kind of operation can only be carried out with approval at the very top [of the country's leadership],” a source close to the Kremlin told The Moscow Times.

      >The purge appears to be the culmination of wartime infighting and competition for resources between the security services and the Defense Ministry — and marks a victory for the FSB, the successor to the Soviet KGB, in currying ex-KGB agent President Vladimir Putin’s favor. “There is still a long way to go before the purges are finished. More arrests await us,” he added.

      [...]

      >“There must be one single party to blame for the failure of the invasion,” the source said.

      >“It is either the special services, which were engaged in intelligence and analytical preparations for the war and promised Putin a triumphant operation and a quick victory but failed,” he said, “or the 'second army of the world' under PR-czar Shoigu which was supposed to ensure Putin's victory — but turned out to be a paper tiger and failed miserably."
