How tall?
No clue, as I’m a fatty myself trying to lose weight. But good job working out anon, you’re better than most Americans.
Nice feet.
Now post mustache.

What did anon mean by this
>rucking to practice rucking
Stop, think of your knees
Its 19 kg and 5 km, nothing to worry about it unless he takes another 10 kg on his back
is 19 kg considered light? what the fuck do people carry in their ruck.
btw in a combat scenario where you have plates ammo a gun and comms you add 10kg easylily, but im not sure youd be carrying 19kg in your ruck tho
Water, batteries, food, additional optics, tools, clothes, even more water, even more batteries, medical extra equipment, ammo…
I know but to get more than 19kg you need to pack tons of them
But why start with 19 kg and not 10 kg and maybe(!) double the distance? Wouldn't that be better for a starting training?
I did 1 hour bc I had to meet a person after that otherwise I could’ve done 2 hours easily
no you need to be closer to 47 minutes.
rucking as an exercise is fine. the issue is that the military forces you to ruck day after day with little rest and then run and ruck more for morning pt. if you just ruck a few miles a week it isnt a problem.
mortard. last time i was at jrtc i had a 60 or so kg ruck. standard combat load + 4x 5kg rounds + 20kg of mortar equipment. 6 hour movement before we got to our mfp.
>wearing out your knees for free
is it so bad?
i didnt feel any pain to my knees
by the way it wasnt tiring, today my legs are sore but it wasnt difficult at all to do, the main distress pont was my traps getting digged in by the the ruck straps, which i mitigated partiall my shifting the load with load lifters, but i thing i need to adjust my strpas bc i think i made them too short, in the sense that the hip belt is too high i think bc it doesnt rest the weight on my hips.
i also got 2 small blood blisters on my toes and a big blister behind my right foot that got open during the ruck and was annoying as fuck, probably if it were to happen in the field it would get opened as fuck if i was to keep walking, but you can put a bandaid on to mitigate it, also you risk infection long term if youre in the field multiple days
get proper blister patches, can stay on march with those fuckers
bandaids won't do shit
>t. long distance hiker
You're grinding your joints to dust and compressing the fuck out of your spine for no good reason. Rucking 50 lbs is not the end of the world but I wouldn't make a hobby out of it.
>muh training
Any reasonably fit male has the endurance for a yomp, hell march or whatever - the only real point of failure are your feet, and regular hiking will harden them all the same.
As for building mass, liftan' is the most efficient and carries the least risk.
>41.67lbs
What The Fuck are you doing? I've gone camping and hiking too, but my pack never went over 25lbs, with a full tent set up and food for 3 days. Did you take your guns and armor? With my set up, I can get about 4-5hrs of walking before I'm done. How far did you on 41lbs??
It’s not my gear load out, I just put weights inside the ruck to train (on top of the divider so the center of gravity is higher, and btw the divider held up a lot of weight concentrated in the same spot without loosening up which is good given it’s just a fastened strap with no buckle)
>I just put weights inside the ruck to train
Oh my god... he's retarded.
it's good practice
the next thing to do
is actually organize a load in the bag
this can let you work out what you want vs what you need, the order you want to get it out, and distribution in bag
Its good to keep the weight in the back higher up so it is between your shoulder blades
you can raise it up in the bag by just wadding up a jumper or hoody and stuffing that in the bottom and putting the weight on top
an alternative could be to use a weight vest

According to the army you should ideally shoot for 15 minutes a mile for 12 miles. Dont know if its actually bad for your kneesbut l know running for sure isnt if you actually take care of yourself
>l know running for sure isnt if you actually take care of yourself
It is. Most life long runners end up looking like emaciated hot dogs with minimal muscle mass, saggy skin, and an irregular heartbeat.
Look at the papers from orthopedic surgeons and cardiologists.
Hiking, swimming, cycling, literally anything else low impact provides better cardio and muscular-skeletal health than long term running.
People just associate running with toughness because muh military, aka institutional inertia as always.
Sounds like they didnt take care of themselves. Taking care of yourself includes variety in your exercise. Literally just take care of yourself
>Most life long runners end up looking like emaciated hot dogs with minimal muscle mass, saggy skin, and an irregular heartbeat.
So do people who never ran a day in their life.
As is always the answer to everything: practice moderation and diversity.
Walk further with less weight and a quicker pace. Hope you’re lifting and doing unweighted sprints too
>is it a decent time?
Not really
With a 35lb to 45lb rucksack you should be aiming for 15 minute miles. You also really don't need to worry about timed rucks as a civilian unless you plan to through hike the Appalachian Trail or something.
ok, i Guess i could had this pace if i concentrate on sleeping a high pace, sometimes i was walking normally like on a hike
so you can train for rucking without rucking?
should use less weight?
gay if you have 2 same weight rucks the one with weights is quicker to pack and unpack compared to preparing the whole thing with gear
Hi, actually seasoned rucker here (I’ve earned 5 military awards for timed rucks), what is going to give out on you on long distance rucks are your feet. If you want to train your feet to withstand hiking for multiple miles you need to time your rucks as well as do them so your feet will get used to it. Your legs will work with ibuprofen and a few hours of rest, your feet will be fucked for multiple days, maybe a week without proper care before during and after. After each hike, soak your feet in epsom salt and do what you did the day prior. One pair of normal hiking socks and one layer of very thin socks. Let your feet air out on your breaks (10-15 mins every 4-5km). Learn how mole skin works. A good time is a km every 10 mins, and you should be able to complete a 40km within 6-7 hours to be ‘competitive’. No one else here knows what they’re talking about except for me, and I stand by that.
>so you can train for rucking without rucking?
Yes, absolutely. Just like you can train for getting bitchslapped by strengthening your neck muscles while avoiding all that sweet TBI.
There's nothing inherently manly or cool or impressive about rucking. Give the average PrepHolelet a shot or two of prednisone, a tub of vaseline and some wakey wakey tablets and you could march him to the end of the world.
Sure it's an essential military 'skill' but so what? If rangers kicked each other in the nuts for fun would you do it too?
You retards got PSYOP'd into believing hiking is gay and for libturds and your knees and lower back will pay the price.
>believing hiking is gay and for libturd
fake and gay I like hiking alot and I'm not American so I dont care about li rtards and shit I just hate leftists and communists but also "right" wingers bc here it means they favor state intervention "to help muh people" by giving gibs
That’s nothing my PMC on tarkov can carry 50 kilos
The official military standard is 15 minutes per mile for a 12 mile distance (although infantry units usually have an unofficial standard of 13 minutes per mile).
It's a start. Work up to 6-7 miles before you try to increase your weight or speed. The distance is the most important thing, and there are diminishing results for it health-wise past the 6-7mi mark.
What's the difference between rucking and backpacking?
Backpackers have useful items in their backpacks and do it for enjoyment and ruckers are giant retards who think walking with weights in a backpack is worth doing for some reason.
not bad. Remember to use proper posture when you ruck. I built up to 10k rucks with 50 lbs six days a week. walked a seawall for most of it walk 30 to 40 mi a week for my current job so I havent rucked in months. rucking is an excellent way to get in shape, there is a reason why the military does it
> water
>stretching
>merino wool padded socks

Woh bro you did a pre-work PT session. Good for you

Everybody gonna ha
ve a good time
i was going to post something like "could be much faster", but it depends on how long your legs are
You should bot be carrying weight unless you're already somewhat fit unless you want your spine and knees to be fucked for life. 5km is nothing, the fact that you're even asking this means you're not fit enough to be carrying weights.
Do longer distances and walk faster, instead
so what are some actual distances for rucking?
>rucksack
fucking white people can’t just say bookbag
the fuck is a book bag
It's what chinese call a backpack
Any time is decent time anon, I’m proud of you 😀
