More like since the fall of the soviet union, if you look into the people behind the man who dissolved it you'll find that it was a US backed coup. Not to mention the process in which they decided to dissolve it.

Anon, that's every fricking state. All national myths are artificial narratives we tell ourselves to bind us to a collective authority, which holds the monopoly on legal violence. No matter how softly this is expressed, secession is illegal no matter where you go... and harshly punishable.
Also, the USSR was comprised of several nations, most states are. Please do not confuse the concept of nations (as in peoples) and states (as in political machinery). Be better.

-An excuse to cancel Victory day parade, citing security reasons.
-An excuse why they take such a beating in upcoming Ukrainian campaign "The enemy is stronger than anticipated, we are fighting entire nato" or somesuch.
-Excuse to purge his ranks of distrusted people in moscow defense and intelligence communities.

But I honestly do not think it was a false flag. Moscow is clinically paranoid of showing any sign of weakness. They will rather resort to ridiculously see-through lies rather than admit that the enemy could harm them seriously. Like "The Moskva returned to port under it's own power". They will rather seem stupid than humiliated, and this was certainly humiliating.

I don't think it's a false flag. Bombing a Moscow school or hospital to make people angry would be a false flag. Attacking the Kremlin days before May 9th without killing anyone is just humiliating and demoralizing. Russia can't afford that.

This. It makes no sense to false flag by bombing some symbolic monument in a manner that harms no innocents. It just looks pathetic for Russia

There was a leaked government directive on how Russian media is supposed to cover the Ukrainian counter-offensive which basically stated that no matter what happens, it is to be spun to Russia's positive and you'll get in trouble if you go against that government diktat. That happened yesterday. So what better way to drown that out of the media and social media by replacing it with
      >HOLHOLS TRY TO ASSASSINATE PUTIN BUT DON'T WORRY WE SHOT DOWN THE DRONES AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE
      >NO THAT VIDEO IS CGI FAKE HATO PROPAGANDA
A few MSM sources are questioning the entire thing because: 1. Putin doesn't stay at the Kremlin overnight very often 2. He wasn't there and 3. It would take more than a drone to try and hit him. Therefore it surely cannot be an assassination attempt. They then question how there are so many angles of the drone attack, why there were people already climbing up the roof when the 2nd one hit... almost like this was planned and filmed to show to the Russian public.

Is it a false flag though? Seems pretty obvious that its a message to the elite in Russia that are funding the war. they arent as safe as they think they are and that only reason they're alive is because Ukraine has chosen not to go after them yet.

Definitely a falseflag, to fast response from Kremlin, 9th of May parade just in corner and how embrassing if they flew all the way from Ukraine to Kremlin without getting noticed just before the hit the dome. I mean come on, one of the easiest falseflags to do and even easier to call out Ukraine to be the bad boy. Plus their hilarious claim that "Ukraine tried to assassinate Putin".

Could be several reasons why they did it
        >To limit the 9th of May spectators plus even more rigid security
        >Call off 9th of May
        >Push and sway the population to be more pro-"smo"
        >they're just moronic and belives that will increase their popularity among West etc, play victim card and try to decrease Western support

I don't think it's to justify more terror bombing, because they don't seem to care about that. My guess is Putin wants an excuse to cancel May 9 parade or they are trying to justify mobilising by scaring the people in Moscow by bringing the war to them. It's like 9/11 but pathetic and ineffectual.

If they wanted to do a false flag they'd have bombed an apartment bloc.
They have done it before, and it'd actually give them an excuse to call for a second mobilization. Your regular Russian would be outraged by this, but it's still not a sufficient excuse to call for a full mobilization.

This was probably the Ukrainians trying to put the fear of God in Putin and make him call off the May 9 parade, which probably worked.

Uman bombing has made more of a splash. I’ve checked several world news sites, and this didn’t even make the first page. Seems like they are limiting Ukrainian news to one topic at a time, and today it’s the Kremlin drone attack.

Kyiv insisted it had “nothing to do” with the alleged attack, suggesting it was “staged” by Moscow, while the US said the report should be taken with a “shaker of salt”.

“We do not attack Putin or Moscow,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on a visit to Finland.

“We defend our villages and cities.”

On the same day, Kyiv said Russian strikes had killed 21 people in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson – including on a supermarket and a train station.

Russia announced the drone incident after a series of major sabotage attacks in the run-up to celebrations for the nation’s most important holiday on 9 May, marking the Soviet victory over the Nazis.

“Today at night, the Kyiv regime attempted to strike the Kremlin residence of the President of the Russian Federation with unmanned aerial vehicles,” the Kremlin said.

“Two unmanned vehicles were aimed at the Kremlin … the devices were put out of action,” a Kremlin statement said.

The operation was described as “a planned terrorist act and an attempt on the life of the President of the Russian Federation”.
“Russia reserves the right to take retaliatory measures wherever and whenever it deems necessary,” the Kremlin statement continued.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin was working at his residence near Moscow on Wednesday and would still take part in a scheduled World War II Victory Day parade on Red Square next week as planned.

Russia later launched a terrorism probe “in connection with the attempt to strike the Kremlin residence of the President of Russia”.

Kyiv suggested that Moscow “staged” the attack, which came ahead of a widely expected Ukrainian spring offensive.

“Such staged reports by Russia should be considered solely as an attempt to prepare an information background for a large-scale terrorist attack on Ukraine,” presidential spokesman Mikhaylo Podolyak said.

Ukraine consistently denies information about ongoing operations, especially inside Russia. That doesn't mean they don't happen, it's a war and they have ever right to strike inside Russia. But yeah, smoking accident haha funny.

I think false flag by a hardline faction. That's highly restricted air space, and it's hitting dead center to the flag with controlled flight. Feels very theatrical. The explosive in question is not large enough to pose a threat inside either - it is a fortified building. None of it makes sense, but the anger is there, so false flag is the natural explanation given Russia's history on this stuff. Hardline faction might want it to add support for more war economy changes, conscription, whatever.

Honestly it kinda feels too funny to be a false flag to me. Putin's bomb goons are no strangers to causing casualties, and maybe I've just read Red Storm Rising too many times, but I'd expect them to hit a class of schoolkids visiting the Duma or one and only one very specific key government figure. Bombing the flagpole is just such specific and potent symbolism that I'd lean towards saying it was either dissidents or some glowie branch telling Putin that "we can kill you any time we want".

    https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-may-3-2023

ISW thinks the drone strike in moscow has the hallmarks of a staged, self-made attack.

"Several indicators suggest that the strike was internally conducted and purposefully staged. Russian authorities have recently taken steps to increase Russian domestic air defense capabilities, including within Moscow itself, and it is therefore extremely unlikely that two drones could have penetrated multiple layers of air defense and detonated or been shot down just over the heart of the Kremlin in a way that provided spectacular imagery caught nicely on camera.
...The Kremlin’s immediate, coherent, and coordinated response to the incident suggests that the attack was internally prepared in such a way that its intended political effects outweigh its embarrassment.
...If the drone attack had not been internally staged it would have been a surprise event. It is very likely that the official Russian response would initially have been much more disorganized as Russian officials scrambled to generate a coherent narrative and offset the rhetorical implications of a clear informational embarrassment. The Kremlin has notably failed to generate a timely and coherent informational response to other military humiliations not of its own making, including the falls of Balakliya and Kherson City in September and November 2022"

I don't know about that... Never see malice in something that can be equally explained by incompetence. And russians ARE stupendeously incompetent.

      Anonymous

Maybe it is the lack of wild, stupid see-through lies to explain this that tips them off? All explanations are the same, and came out in timely manners.

Then I'd just say that the US is at war with Russia. Right now it's not but you can't seriously claim that NATO isn't actively involved in keeping Ukraine supplied. How'd you compare the US' involvement in Ukraine with say, India and Russia? Way to go quibbling over semantics instead of addressing my original point.

By that logic the Soviet Union was at war with America in Vietnam c. 1968. But it wasn't, and you're a coping homosexual. You are not fighting NATO. You are losing to Ukrainians. Deal with it.

      >and it is therefore extremely unlikely that two drones could have penetrated multiple layers of air defense
Those morons know nothing about vatnik incompetence.

      >spectacular imagery caught nicely on camera
There are dozens of 24/7 cameras overviewing Kremlin

      >The Kremlin’s immediate, coherent, and coordinated response to the incident

My favorite part has been the reactions of Russia and sadly a bunch of right wing pundit types.
    >drones hit flags
    >basically nothing aside from saying "look what we can do" if it was even Ukrainians in the first place
    >OH MY GOD THEY'RE TRYING TO ASSASSINATE PUTIN
    >THIS IS GOING TO START WWIII!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Russia started to threaten Finland with military-technical countermeasures if Finland signs Defence Cooperation Agreement with US, and also implied that they're very worried and sad about Finland losing its sovereignty in the process. A beer bottle was thrown at their Åland consulate during our national get drunk day the labor day so they send a protest letter to our gov, and Zelensky visited our country yesterday and Russia could do nothing but watch since we're in NATO now.

Seems like this week has been awful for them and only keeps getting worse. It's great, I love it so much. I can't wait to see western tanks finally start getting footage when the ukie offensive turns hot.

lmao, great idea putin, run the possibility of opening up a second front, against NATO no less, when you're already getting your ass fed to you in a single campaign

A lot of this war has been

        >They can't be that stupid.

        Russia does the stupid thing.

Lol. Aren't the potential "military-technical countermeasures" the reason that pushed Finland to NATO?

Pretty much. A small neutral country has the patience to listen to veiled nuke threats and nazi accusations only for so long, while watching Russia invade its smaller ''neutral'' neighbors.

Every time Russia fricks up and shows a moment of weakness, someone will take advantage of that and try to leave from their sphere.

It's the best because they admit America can literally bomb their capital and there is nothing they can do because they are afraid any real response and are too weak to handle any actual response.
