509T has some really gay distortion and tint
DPP isn't bright enough during gay
romeo1 actually works pretty well but has more tint
      romeo zeros have obscene tint

Ive never used a red dot with as much distortion has thr 509T. I like it a lot, but I can't recommend it.

Was yours a 1st gen? I hear the 2nd gen 509 fixed a lot of that stuff.

I'm still pretty early in on my RMR relative to my other pistol dots, but so far after about 3500 rounds, it's still going, and I'm pretty tough on dots. If it hits the 10k mark, I'll call it worth it.

I would buy the RMR because it would bother me to have a SIG branded item on a competing pistol make. I also prefer to buy American.

However, the RMR requires battery removal to change the battery. The SIG does not. The SIG also has a larger window.

My choice if I was stuck with the FN 45 would be a Leupold Deltapoint PRO.

I just re-read my post and am coming to terms with the possibility that I might be a schizo.
      I don't feel schizo.

I have the sig, it was issued, Sonim not invested like of it was my money. Its serviceable enough, not bad, no real issues after probably 2k rounds. Battery change is annoying but not often necessary thanks to shake awake.

RMR I hear only good things. Never used one.

    Flip a coin.

The RMR has to be removed to change the battery. That means it also has to be re-zeroed to change the battery. It also means it has to be properly torqued each time and you run the risk of stripping out the small screws each time you change battery.

The SIG you unscrew the little cap put the new battery in and screw the little cap back down, done.

The battery change on the RMR is a serious disadvantage and something to consider.

The benefits of the RMR is that it sits very low which makes co-witnessing easier, keeps the profile down but most importantly keeps the same muscle memory. If you use a taller optic and have highly trained muscle memory, the taller optic means you will hold your hand lower and it'll feel weird. It could also make finding the dot slightly harder until you train for it. Having a lower mount position is better.

I have owned both the Romeo PRO and the RMR. Aesthetically I much prefer the RMR and like that it's American made. However, the battery mounting of the SIG, it's large window and the fact that's it's also just pretty good would make it the objectively better choice.

That said, if I wasn't putting the SIG on a SIG I wouldn't get the SIG because cross branding like that triggers my OCD/Autism/Perfectionist whatever it is tendencies.

So I would go with the RMR on the FN 45 or I would look at other options including the Leupold Delta Point and ACRO gen2.

        >That means it also has to be re-zeroed to change the battery.
i'm not going to tell you that you don't have to confirm your zero after a battery.change. But if removing it from a pistol slide alters the zero, I haven't seen it shooting 2" bulls at 10y, and my groups at 25y are so wide as to hide it (80-90ish on a B-8 slow fire).

Maybe guys who shoot hundos on B-8s would tell you differently, but that ain't me.

If your backup irons are zeroed, rezeroing is as easy as adjusting the dot until it's sitting on the front sight post as you look through your rear irons.

Romeo 2, and use the shroud protection to have similar enclosed weather and debris protection like the 509t and ACRO.
RMR type 2 with adjustable brightness. Choose RMR due to having the best known history of having high durability use in leo and military use, downsides with the battery replacement but it's not too difficult to reconfirm zero.
If you can find it, ACRO P2 is nice but constantly oos and pretty expensive.
And then there's holosun 507c-x2 (open emitter like rmr) or 509t (if you need the enclosed protection) if you truly are on a budget.
