I have a good idea, mount a machine gun vertically pointing down. So instead of dropping grenades you just shoot. The recoil would go straight up thus it won't really effect the flying of the drone. This way you can get alot more kills with one drone

      >good idea
      >first shot destabilizes the drone, so subsequent shots are 15m+ off target
So useful. An automatic grenade launcher would be a better idea due to the inherent inaccuracy of these drones. The best would be multiple bombs and trigger mechanisms for more attacks per sortie.

it would be even better if the soldier would be held in some sort of parachute support, instead of holding it by hand, so that he can handle a gun from mid air

Imagine how useful it would be to air assault guys onto the roof of the commie block apartments when they are taking a town.

Probably the best use case for these things, police and urban infantry will love this shit.

Cheap drones that are updated every year don't fit for defense contractors and 40 year long upgrade programs

What would a hypothetical drone mobile VDV company look like? How many drones would you need to effectively ferry soldiers and supplies 5km behind the lines for example?

They'd end up being killed by friendly fire them having their lifeless corpses parading over no man's land until they run out of power drop from the air then land on mines which fling them in random directions.

So I was doing a bit of thinking about this a while back for a tabletop gaming thing. I can't remember what parts of my math were specific to Shadowrun, so be forewarned some of my math relied on literal magic existing, also I intended for them to job for my party but still be extremely challenging and believable I went with the optimal drone borne infantry company being 1 transport drone per soldier, 1 transport drone per squad, along with a few hundred loitering munitions for the company, along with drone fighters to deal with enemy drones and recon drones and stuff. In the end I remember toning down the drones because I realized that the metahuman contingent was almost all riggers and just there to control the drones, which I didn't think would be satisfying to fight.

        >1 transport drone per soldier,
That seems excessive. You would need a whole airfield for all these drones. I was thinking more like one per squad. Then they all the normal stuff still like trucks too.

unironically if you developed this more it would be great for special forces insertion and extraction.
      >only one can be killed at a time unlike all of them dying together in a helicopter
      >more accurate than a parachute
      >can remain on site or nearby for extraction of entire team or any casualties
      >could potentially avoid radar like those paragliders did
      >could double as observation or attack drones after dropping off troops
alot of benefits you could gain with these, though id place the troops in the horizontally. more aerodynamic and they could shoot better prone.

Drone has advantage of possibility of remote control. You don't need to teach soldiers piloting skills and can retrieve drone after assault.

This is Revolution in suicide squads assaults. Imagine hundreds drones quickly bypassing forward trenches and droop off mobiks behind enemy lines.

    why hold people.
    why not hold bombs
100x shahed136 would need a destroyer or iron dome to take down
    nothing else can do it
100x shahed would only cost 2.5million dollars to use
    defending costs alot more

I think the revolutionary part is that tech caught up and made this different enough to be viable. kinda like the difference between a diving bell and a scuba rebreather for naval spec ops.
