To be fair, a sample size of 2 working tanks represents a sizeable fraction of the number of T-14s that will ever be built.

Why are you even trying to claim that it was sone sort of super-tank. It was designed to be a cost effective budget variant, which I am sure it excelled at. But comparing it to tanks that would make military budgets shatter is just silly

The anon dude in 58072303 says it was a biased the claims that the tank had a good performance... Well i'll keep thinking it made a good impression, but also guess what?

The excuses of "the 'evil' USA slandering the project made the arabs not buy it, which made Engesa, the company that built the tank, go bankrupt" can EVEN be truth! but USA argument that the tank was bad business because had several parts made in different parts of the world its obviously correct!

    >Remember that time Brazil produced an MBT that shat all over the latest American, British and French tanks in competition and America had it killed off out of spite? Good times, good times.
The Saudi's had a choice between a tank that had just proved itself exceptionally in real combat and is guaranteed to have spare parts and upgrades available for the next 50 years or a tank that has never seen battle, whose own government is not even purchasing it and the company is so unstable it will literally go bankrupt if the Saudi's don't financially keep them afloat with your purchase...
The whole scheme of find foreign buyers to fund domestic tanks was moronic to begin with. If the Osório was going to have any success on the export market, step one would to be have Brazil purchase a few hundred and fully commit themselves to the tank so that other nations would know that the rug would not be pulled out from under them at the first economic downturn. A tank is a 50 year investment, there can be no instability.
Blaming the Americans is just cope, if Brazil wanted to sell this tank then they should have committed to buying them. It is clear a main battle tank was too ambitious a project for them.

The only stable military company of south america is Embraer. Engesa killed themselves with a risky MBT project without any financial leeway and a reliable user (their own gov). They used to do upgrades to WWII tanks or far simpler vehicles.

Those companies looks fairly high tech, does Brasilia is even buying from them? Brasil (and all latin america are) is an ideal country for UAVs.

Akaer took part of the development of the Hürjet, with materials and other stuff. SIATT makes missiles and other missile related stuff and Ares is a Elbit subsidiary.

            >Brasilia is even buying from them?

Only the Cruise and Antiship missiles, there's a company working with MBDA for VTOL UCAV's.

It's why when the French tried to market the AMX-40 there were no takers. I think the only time a country gets away with making an export only tank is if they're the bongs who were simply selling export tanks that were commissioned by the buyer in the first place.

And let's face it the main reason 3rd world domestic things from the 80s never had a chance is when the cold war ended most of the west and east suddenly had several thousand tanks and aircraft they no longer needed to fight off NATOWarsaw Pact so they went "You thirdies want our junk?"

Canadians are just south Americans with snow. No innovation, no creativity, because their whole economy runs off of resource extraction. So the one time they run their two engineers together and make something that fails due to the country's poor MIC, they get butt lasted forever.

    OP is a homosexual.

The Osorio was a prototype tank developed by the Brazilian company Engesa in the 1980s. While it was never produced in large numbers, it was designed to compete with contemporary American, British, and French tanks. Here is a brief comparison of the Osorio with some of these tanks:

    - M1 Abrams (USA): The M1 Abrams is considered one of the best main battle tanks in the world. It has a powerful 120mm gun, advanced armor, and a highly effective fire control system. Compared to the Osorio, the Abrams has superior protection and firepower.

    - Challenger 2 (UK): The Challenger 2 is another highly regarded main battle tank. It has a 120mm gun, advanced armor, and an excellent fire control system. The Challenger 2 is generally considered to be more heavily armored than the Osorio and has better protection against modern anti-tank weapons.

    - Leclerc (France): The Leclerc is a modern main battle tank that entered service in the 1990s. It has a 120mm gun, advanced armor, and a highly sophisticated fire control system. Compared to the Osorio, the Leclerc is considered to have superior mobility and advanced electronics.

Overall, while the Osorio was a well-designed tank with some advanced features, it was not considered to be on the same level as contemporary American, British, and French tanks in terms of protection, firepower, and advanced technology. However, it is important to note that the Osorio was never produced in large numbers or tested in combat, so its true capabilities are difficult to gauge.

there were supply chain issues with its foreign made parts
    development was delayed
when the Cold War ended there was a combined drop in the need for MBTs and a surplus of tanks flooding the market eliminating the business model selling abroad first to cover development costs

Sure thing. A country that has not a single minute of experience in tank warfare, doesn't have a meaningful (military) industrial base designs an MBT that's "better" than everything designed by nations who got both much more tank experience (IRL) and an industrial base.

You hues are just a fricking joke. The thing might have been the best south american MBT. But then again: That's like being the cleanest hobo under the bridge
