Redback currently undergoing trials in Poland

Poland might actually beat Australia to getting Redbacks which it was originally intended for.
How is this even possible?

        Poles are getting wienery.
Their economy finally started trending up in last decade, and their politicians found out you can push all sorts of commie and fascie spending as long as your constantly proclaim how much you hate those policies and Russia
Poland had massive brain drain over half a century, so even if the population is fairly based, the average is not the brightest tool in the shed.

As some already mentioned in only numbers we are not getting anything crazy. We already had hundreds of tanks, over thousand IFVs and shitton of everything else before the Ukraine war. It's just that almost all of that was post Warsaw pact equipment. Fore 30 years since fall of commies military was pretty much ignored as the focus was at economic growth, now with half of our shit given to Ukraine and military that was ignored for 30 years our gov is speedrunning replacing everything with modern equipment and completely get rid off soviet junk in form of donating it to Ukraine.

Even with all this new shit Polish army will be way smaller than Turkey or S.Korea. They will be fine their economy is doing good with soling 5-6% growth every year. Only real problem will be finding people willing to join to man all this new shit.

South Korea has a modern army larger than any nation on the planet other than the US so this is not a relevant comparison

Turkey will technically still have a larger army but Poland will have better firepower and capabilities after getting all of this hardware, arguably will have the best land fighting force in Europe

Given Poland's geographic location they should be spending over 3% of gdp if not 5% over the next decade

No it doesn’t. They have some old tanks and a small amount of modern tanks. Only 260 k2s have ever been produced

SK has 520 K2s and 1500 K1s, the K1s are essentially the same as M1s, obviously there is no rival to the K2s

SK has more main battle tanks than the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and Belgium COMBINED not to mention that the worst of the SK tanks (the K1s) are better than the best of any of these nations tanks

3 lots have been delivered to the SOuth Koreans. 520 isn’t the number

                K1s are M1s dumbass

                1 K2 = 2 or 3 Leopard 2a7 or M1a2sep3 in a combat scenario, possible more

The K2 is just on another level, there's too much to detail but there is a reason why its the most expensive mbt, as an example a K2 has an effective range of 10km compared to 3km for the m1 or leopard, not to mention the K2 has a better targeting system with substantially greater kinetic force, so what this translates into is that a K2 will target and hit an m1 or leopard before they even know they are in a fight and if for some reason they can spot the K2, they would need to close a 7km gap over terrain to get into range meanwhile the K2 can pick them off like goldfish in a pond during that entire time

                >K1s are M1s dumbass
No m1s are far superior. Sepv3 and sepv4 are superior to k2. Everyone knows this.

No everybody knows the K2 is far superior, 1 K2 could probably take out 10 M1sep3 or sep4 realistically possible even more

Most experts agree that 1 m1 sepv3 could take out 15 k2s realistically z possibly even more

US military leadership are well known in their feelings that the K2 is far superior and that is why the US is evaluating whether to replace all US mbts with the K2

Interestingly the K3 is already being developed, it will replace the machine gun with a laser gun with near unlimited range + "ammo" and firepower that could take out tanks if necessary let alone endless number of ground troops

      1200 BMP-1s to replace, 700 T-72s and related tanks to replace, 200 BM-21s to replace, 300 2S1s to replace.
It's not like they're expanding the size of the military.

Plus I expect at least part of every order we make to go to Ukraine later. It's not like anyone will sell big amounts to Ukraine right now (I think something like that 100 PzH is the ceiling), and that shit takes years, so Poland can order now in their stead, and when the war is over, sell it to Ukraine.

Likely the old soviet stock that is being replaced will go to Ukraine. They will thank you profusely and try to replace it ASAP as well. Possibly with their own homebrewed stuff.

Overall numbers aren't even changing much it's just that old Soviet trash gets replaced by modern systems. Poland had 850 tanks and 1200 APCs before Ukraine happened.

NATO already has forces in Poland, and it's hard to say you're not involved when the opening of the conflict is your own troops being attacked. The UK and Baltics would be in from day 1 regardless. That's more than enough to deal with the flailing remnants of what used to be the 12th strongest army in the world.

In some article I've seen today the MOD said they are testing Redback till the end of this month, together with domestic Borsuk IFV. If Redback passes the tests then our MOD will try to integrate domestic remote turret ZSSW-30 with Redback (the same turret that is being used in Borsuk) as the final aim is to only get redback chassis and use Polish turret instead of buying whole thing from Korea and getting 3rd type of turret.

Poland and South Korea obviously have a pact of some kind. Poland gets a domestic arms industry, and SK weapons get mass produced. Seems like a win-win. I don’t wxpect many other countries to jump on the Korean bandwagon like Poland though.

      > I don’t wxpect many other countries to jump on the Korean bandwagon like Poland though.

The South Korea + Poland pact is connected to a much larger security strategy that involves the US as well, but there are several other countries that are going all in on Korean weapons, more to come on this in the future

        > but there are several other countries that are going all in on Korean weapons,
No there aren’t. Poland is the only country buying all of SK gear. No one else is buying tanks, SPG, iFV, mlrs, and fighters.

This is very off base, SK arms exports are going to approach $30 billion this year and will grow substantially more going forward

Even the US has plans to implement large scale implementation of SK weapons, the next to be announced soon will be the redback to replace all of the M2 bradley ifvs, the US ifv will essentially be a Korean ifv produced jointly with Oshkosh

I say US is 100% heavily involved in our recent purchases. US is either paying or pressuring UK/SK to speedrun our purchases. UK gave up CAMM missiles from it's own army stockpile to finish our Narew AA system which was also integrated in like 8 months (really fast). SK is delivering new tanks and artilerry 3 months after signing the contract because they have up their own orders for their own army and sent it to Poland instead. The Patriot AA system is also being speedrun with US integrating it in like 1 year. In my humble opinion US just wants Poland to become as strong as possible so that they can focus on China instead of Europe and they are awarding their trusted partners (UK, SK) with big deals to Poland as EU showed in this conflict they are not so willing to cooperate.

Poland is being positioned to be the line of defense (or potentially offense) for Europe against Russia, at this pace Poland will be by far the strongest land force in Europe in a few years
