Really Soft and Quiet Foam for Lifting

I plan on working out at night at my new apartment. I'm currently working on building the new gym, adding a flooring that will be 3/4" plywood beneath 3/4" rubber matting. The thing is, I've realized that the loudest part of lifting is racking and reracking and the occasional drop onto the safeties. Are there any other foams I could attach to make these events much quieter? There are plastic inserts screwed into these, but they don't make shit much quieter. If there are better inserts to install, then that would be based, and I would love to install some thick foam on top. I don't care if I would have to replace it every other month. It would totally be worth it it if meant I didn't have to risk waking anyone up when I decide to workout between 12:00 and 6:00 AM.

      That does nothing to dampen the noise of racking, reracking, and dropping the bar onto the safeties. I need some sort of hard foam to glue to the J-hooks and safeties to dampen the noise. I don't want any of my neighbors to be complaining. I'm grateful to live in a town house, and everybody lives upstairs, while I will be working out downstairs.

              Hey, you just gave me an idea. I could add a thin layer of HDPE around the entire squat stand for noise reduction. However, upon inspection, there isn't enough clearance, so some felt padding would be needed in place.

      I have this same issue going on. My plan was to either wrap the j hooks with thick layer of hockey tape or to find a vinyl hose that will fit over the peg and put length of it over the peg. In my case, not to inhibit the sound, but to protect the knurl on my barbell.

      The seran wrap would definitely work, but it would take a ton, and it wouldn't be very sophisticated. The bubble wrap would just be popping all the time.

          I was thinking about something a bit more sophisticated, like thicker HDPE padding with EVA foam padding on top.

    Search foam bar pad weight lifting or foam foot pad weight lifting on e-bay. Could you use either of those to cushion the spots where the noise is happening, or even the bar itself where it interacts with those places?

    j cups always come with some sort of padding that can withstand 2pl8s just fine, are you benching 4pl8s or something? or did you Black person rig a rack out of rusty steel rods?

      Now that I think about it, I'm also going to have to do this to the pegs that connect the J-cups and safeties to the stand itself, along with the metal that goes against the stand itself.

      The J-hooks have a little metal plane on the back of the squat stand bar for added stability. There's not combined clearance between this rear metal plane and the J-hook on front.

    Unironically build a wood power cage to replace your metal rack. When built correctly they are very sturdy. Reracking against the wooden supports will deaden the sound. Then get a safety strap system instead of safety bars.
