I suppose I'd ratify some sort of constitutional amendment (and enforce it robustly against all levels of government) that protects the right to normal guns, so the people don't have to resort to that.

Beyond that, a draconian licensing system for "approved" carpenters and limited time may issue licenses for govt authorized construction projects. Something tells me that there'd be a large swathe of retards that would eventually support this.
Realistically though, and I tell this to antigun friends all the time, if the feds managed to ban guns and ammo, gangbangers in urban burgerland and mass killers would just be lobbing homemade firebombs and improvised explosives.
