A few months ago I've seen two guys at the supermarket wearing a strange mix of rare camos. Russian, Estonian and swiss. Pants, jacket, backpacks. Tall, burly guys with greasy short hair. Maybe in their late 30s. Got near them and they smelled really bad. They seemed like absolute weirdos so I didn't ask about the camo mix and where they got it from.

This was in western Europe btw. The only camos you ever see people wear in the streets are woodland of course and sometimes someone wearing a flecktarn parka.

It's always two guys, younger middle age, smell terrible, camo/biker mishmash. Sometimes you see em lurking around gun shows looking to make cash purchases. That and a supermarket is as far into the public eye as they'll ever go until they finally blow up their meth trailer outside of Kingman.

Decent people tho, they likely just never figured out socializing. Or their parents were druggies before them. Admire from a distance.

Anyway OP to your encounter, it really is hard to say. Pity you didn't sack up and say hey I admire you're jacket. Supermarkets in quiet times are usually neutral turf to middle aged blacks so it probably would've been fine. You might even gotten a story about the jacket out of him. "Oh, my wife found it at a yard sale etc etc etc."

Lots of repro shit floating around too, maybe it was from Thailand or Malaysia. Or Pakistan or India. There's only going to be more as time passes and the originals are lost.

That's weird because I once saw two guys just like that in Texas at a Buc'ees. Baggy cargo pants.

So…. Not camo, but I was in a “hip hop clothing store” in Seoul, ROK, and they had a Luftwaffe field jacket complete with tank, brand new (obviously repro) hanging there for sale.

Yeah it does. It has great stalls around the city selling american and ROK stuff. It also has a movie prop store that has a shit load of camo and repro nazi memorabilia. The prices are pretty decent too. You need to hagle with the street vendors tho. They are mostly old vets and just love talking. It helps if you know korean or with a korean. I brought a korean friend with me to a shop and she was shocked about its existence.

It's the same in America believe it or not. The """surplus scene""", or what's left of it at least, is a complete shock to the average normie, who thinks you need to have a special license to sell tacticool gear. And not the good kind of "complete shock" either. That said, it's exactly why you shouldn't wear milsurp in public or infodump about it since it can and will be used against you to paint you as a """potential mass shooter""".

I don't think anyone is going to see you as a potential shooter if you're just wearing something like a field shirt with normal clothes lol. especially if you're outside of large urban areas.

Well half the population are wearing camo baseball or trucker's hats. If you want to glitz it up a notch, get one with a rhinestone cross on it for ultimate rural Christian girl kitsch.

The only time I can recall recently where I actually saw camo guys giving off bad vibes was, like... December 2020 or around there... and two of these guys wandered into a restaurant in full camo, and one had a blue Trump 2020 morale patch stuck on his sleeve (in addition to being unhealthily obese). I don't know if they were doing their Meal Team Six militia LARP or were coming back from playing paintball, because they didn't look like an actual threat to anyone, but this was during a relatively tense period. Nobody gave them any trouble but I could tell nobody wanted to be near them.

Anon, I've been wearing a flektarn BDU shirt over my generic Ivy clothing for almost a decade now and the only comments or weird looks I've ever gotten was by a TSA agent who said it looked dope and asked where I got it, and a Auntie Annes clerk who tried to give me the military discount since all camo = US soldier in her mind. No one gives a singular frick if you're wearing 1 piece of surp camo clothing with the rest of your outfit being normal.

Zoomer here, Supreme (big street fashion brand) was essentially reselling alpenflage camo a couple years ago. And only like 2 or 3 years ago six colour desert and purple woodland was very popular at my school. Now camo isn't as mainstream but you still see it worn by fashionable people or on designer brands or other stuff like parka or jackets. Also milsurp has always been apart of modern fashion.

Why is the implication that WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY, ie that other people have their own rights, preferences, opinions, and experiences they use to make judgments about (you) so seethe-inducing?
