Ran away from home

Sup PrepHole. I'm the guy who made a bunch of running away from home and van threads a few weeks ago. Sorry I've taken so long to come back, I've been on the road and all my mobile ips are rangebanned.

>why should we care?
You claim that /in/cels never last PrepHole but I'm out to prove that wrong. My plan to maintain comfort is to use my gym membership for showers at least every other day and going to a college library to study/charge stuff as well. I have an unlimited 5G hotspot through Calyx so, for the most part I'll always be connected.

>How is it out at this point?
It's not. My goal isn't to go out, it's to stop paying rent. I also have long-term unmedicated ADHD so going nomadic makes me feel fulfilled.

Using your student loan money to live like a hippie for a year isn't based at all. I mean, I'll give him this. I'm sure its liberating and fun, but in the long run he'll go hey maybe I should have just graduated and worked my ass off and saved up money and actually did this without the financial stress and burden of having to go to soup kitchens for meals.

There was a time drifters were frowned upon. I miss those times. I'm not saying this to be a dick. I'm saying this to try and help you. The harder you work in your 20s the easier your life is in your 30s because you reach management/coast sr level positions and wiggle the mouse all day.

Since doing this, I've completely gotten /misc/ out of my life and really only go on PrepHole to maintain my blog post here. Really been the greatest thing for deradicalizing me

/misc/ is shit. Only go there for the edgy memes after some big news story happens, but the news is gay, so don't watch. If its that big a deal you'll hear about it through word of mouth.

That's an interesting take on "Being a productive person until the day I die."
Everyone wants to be a leach. Nobody wants to work to make anything.

                Anonymous

The "rewards" for being productive aren't worth it anymore, for the vast majority of workers making under $100k. The reward system needs to change if you want more slaves on your plantation, Mr. Shekelstein.

OP here. My thread isn't about being a NEET cheaply. I'm working through math problems 6-7 hours a day on average.

                To the detractors
                >if you work so hard why haven't you graduated at 26?
I'm horribly depressed living in a permanent residence and I start to become a shut-in playing vidya and browsing PrepHole all day. This is just as much of a "liberation" choice as a productivity one. I'm camping 3 mi from a library that's open 9 hours a day. Why is it so hard for you to believe I'm being productive? Do I really need to work as a full-time math student? I'd have to work full-time to get a lease and that's not feasible with my current class load.

A nice canvas tent is far better and a fraction of the cost to upgrade.
Vans fricking suck, you can't even stand up in them

gimme the QRD on canvas tents. They're very expensive. What makes them comfy? Are they good in extreme cold? Currently in a $34 walmart 3 person dome tent that I like very much.

                >The "rewards" for being productive aren't worth it anymore
the rewards are having enough spare money and free time to do what you love, if you are unlucky enough that you couldn't get a love you enjoy doing. that is fine, it's perfectly possible and reasonable to get a balanced, fulfilling life that way, and live at peace. it gives also a reasonable position to do new things: you can try different outdoor activities, try to meet different people, have stability to look for other jobs and opportunities elsewhere etc

what's optimal is to love your job, your main occupation, but that is a different thing for each person and for many people it is not reasonable to do. it doesn't mean that you are a bugman just because you didn't drop your job and house and family and friends to live in a shitty van in the middle of nowhere even though you enjoy the outdoors

I think you're ignoring how the vast majority of people actually live their lives. They get burned out from their jobs and simply waste time/money outside of it to "relax". Some people aren't wired for the life you describe, that doesn't make them mentally ill, degenerates, that just means they need to approach things differently. People in this thread are bashing me for using student loans to pay for gas but people are using their credit cards to pay for car loans and drinks to unwind but that's ok because they're employed and live somewhere?

I don't need to be a leech, I just don't want to make a fortune for some guy I'll never meet while wasting away my entire life. But that isn't for everybody. Just as it is necessary for rulers to exist, so is there a natural need for working and slave classes. With some people their servitude is precisely the best thing that they can bring and also the best thing for them. It isn't like ultra successful have remotely the same mindset as the average wageslave or moderately successful person. If your goal is having kids, a comfy life and your own little corner, go for it. It's just not for everyone.

Sure, the whole story is long but I'm 26 and I'm finishing my online degree in math. I've always loved the nomadic lifestyle, doing a lot of travel and long weekends backpacking, even was a trucker for a few months (hated the industry). I decided now is the perfect time to hunker down and live a depression-era lifestyle so right now I'm in BLM land above a certain town in Western Oregon. I plan to ski at Mammoth in California in a few weeks and then probably on to Coeur d'alene or Glacier NP area after that

Depends on what you do. If you got actual skills (not copywriting shit and competing with Indians who do it for 2$ p/h) and they translate well to working remotely, you can do it. But it's better off going to cheaper countries to make it worthwhile. For most it is just a pipe dream as they are too lazy and have no skills whatsoever.

Looks awesome, OP. I've always been jealous of people like you who can just drop all their shit and live in the outdoors/travel. Like another anon said, you don't need any real reason to justify yourself for doing this, I'd say the adventure and memories of saying you did it is reason enough. I'm the same age as you, and I've always lived a normal boring life living by myself in an apartment and wage-slaving at a job and I always wished I could experience something like you're experiencing. Unfortunately, I am an introvert and a pussy.

          >Nice, maintained, recently driven on trail
Cool. Don't we already have a day hike thread ?

what exactly do you want me to do? I'm not on vacation. I'm living on a mountain trying to be productive. The point of my lifestyle is to not pay rent. I don't know why this makes you all seethe so much.

              >what exactly do you want me to do?
              >I'm on vacation.
              >I'm currently camping on a mountain trying to be come off as rugged.
              >I know I am having an easy time, clearly struggling
              >Electricity is abundant, phoneposting is easy
              >very rugged

why would I purposefully make my situation harder than it needs to be?
                >bbbut you're larping so you need to larp better
I'm not larping, I'm avoiding rent. That's it. Be as impressed or unimpressed as you want. Some people respect that I'm willing to go through with it.

                >why would I purposefully make my situation harder than it needs to be?
That's what I have been saying since the start.
Have any pictures of your actual campsites? You know the thing you sleep at when the sun goes down? Or are you just chilling in some guy's van ?
It's easy to take pictures out the window of trees and make a story, show the camp. Come on. With all these pictures, surely you have one with a camp in it? And don't take a day to find someone's site, be quick about it since you clearly have the time to respond to an online forum while supposedly roughing it
