Shut the frick up
can you explain the danger of a striker fired handgun with no trigger safety. Wouldn't the regular safety do the trick?
I guess I'll be the first person who owns a Sig to post here.
6', 150lbs, picked up the 365XL and it's a perfect CCW for me.
Feels great in my hand and disappears when I carry, even with fairly tight shirts.
Personally I wouldn't go for a tinier double stack like the normal P365 or Hellcat just cause the extra grip doesn't print on me.
Go fingerfrick some at your LGS if you get the chance.
Obviously it depends what you want the gun for, but assuming you want a dedicated carry piece the 365 or XL would both be solid.
will do. I was thinking of getting the 365 but if I didn't like how it felt. I'd get an XL

Carry gun? Home defense? What will be it's purpose? picrel
Both. general self defense CCW, Home defense weapon. although I'm greatly considering a shot gun for home defense. I Live in a relatively quiet neighborhood but the city I live is known for crime.
>striker fired handgun with no trigger safety
If the gun is hit on the back or falls on the back, the inertia of the trigger can be enough to make it go off.
is there even a single reported instance of this happening ever, or is this just speculation? surely this would be easy enough to test - drop it on its back a few times from 10ft. and see if it goes off. if it doesn't then you've got nothing to worry about because none of you Black folk are 10 feet tall.
Do you live under a fricking rock or are you just stupid?
>Sig USA decides to design a striker fired handgun using design elements from the P250 >At early stages of development, the P320 featured a trigger with a built in trigger safety >This is important because besides the trigger safety, there is a fairly unreliable bar that blocks the striker from falling if the trigger doesn’t move >Without a trigger safety to ensure that simply dropping the gun, shaking it violently, or a non finger touching the side of the trigger won’t make it fire, you are left with an extremely unsafe design >Almost all modern striker fired handguns feature either a trigger safety or a manual safety, often times on models with a manual safety, there is still a grip or trigger safety. >At some stage of the P320s development, the trigger saftey is dropped from the design >The early P320s are legitimately all extremely likely to fire due to inertial forces acting on the trigger, which can easily be observed when dropping the gun >This is only “noticed” by consumers and is quickly put up on YouTube >Sig immediately recognized there was a problem, and says that (surprise) they already have a fix in mind for it >They issue a “Voluntary Upgrade” which is simply a lighter trigger that reduces the likelihood of the problem happening, but still does not completely stop the phenomenon because there’s no trigger saftey. >Mechanically nothing changed, they simply took the laziest approach and made the issue less likely to happen without actually removing the ones that were out there in the wild with the old triggers >No model number changes are made and it’s still entirely possible to buy a Sig with the old trigger if you didn’t know about this issue.
What I’m arguing is Sig is being irresponsible by not mechanically fixing this issue with an involuntary safety recall, as any sane company that cared about their end users would have done.

Also this is not just the P320, Sig has a history with releasing unsafe or non functional designs to the public in recent years.
The Sig Cross about a year and a half ago was quietly pulled from shelves due to a massive flaw with the trigger system that was immediately apparent as soon as a few non shill consumers got their hands on them. Thing could fire while the safety was engaged, bolt was moved ect. Just s completely non functional unacceptable design vomited out to the public to play around with.
Carry gun? Home defense? What will be it's purpose? picrel
I'm a hammer gay and the single actions feel great. I enjoy the "safety" of the double action trigger when keeping it unholstered in my nightstand. The p239 fits my small manlet hands perfectly. It is my daily carry despite being only 8+1.
I got the p365 to pocket carry but what I didn't realize is the mass of all those rounds just makes it heavier. It's not terrible mind you I just find myself pocket carrying my LCP more since it's lighter. It's very controllable to shoot for its size.
For home defense you're going to want something with a fuller grip and the p365xl fills this role better.
I guess I'll be the first person who owns a Sig to post here.

I have several Sigs. 10mm 220, Legion 9mm, 238 (don't like the 238 much - but it looks cool), and a 365xl (middle gun in your pic).
Because you're looking for a "carry and home" gun, I'd suggest the 365x or xl. Mine has done great for me with over 2000 rounds.
My thoughts on Sig as a company is that they don't ever do thorough product testing before putting them on the market. Then, after the first purchasers suffer all the issues, they release a "new and improved" version of the gun. It's smart to wait a year or two after a new model hits the market - that's my experience.
Most of sigs full size handguns have an unforgivably high bore axis and frick-huge slides that both make the recoil more noticeable, never been very impressed by their triggers either. You’re looking for your first gun so you likely want it to be simple, reliable, low maintenance, easy to shoot and good for everything from concealed carry to home defense to hiking in the woods. Unfortunately there’s no perfect gun that is the best in all categories at once but i would consider a few options and consider their advantages and drawbacks based on your needs.
Snub-nosed revolvers offer excellent power, triggers, and credited manufacturers like s&w and ruger offer probably the best reliability in handguns (in most situations) but you’re always limited by slower reloads, weight, rust on steel frames (especially if you carry iwb), and round count.
Subcompact semi autos like the glock 43, S&w shield, Kahr cm9 and a dozen others are very lightweight (you will be less resistant to always carrying), concealable, and offer extended magazines and great corrosion resistance. Not amazing triggers, and probably the lowest expected reliability of all categories, but still decent if your technique isn’t trash (just don’t limp wrist it). 9mm is usually the hottest round you can usually get these in and they are consistently harder and less comfy to shoot than almost any larger gun. Also the flush fit magazines are usually pretty limited capacity wise and if you’re like me this is what you carry in the gun so you can conceal it better.
Compact semis like the cz p01, Glock 19(and the millions of clones thereof), usp compact, 509 compact, the list goes on. These have more capacity, comfier grips to hold onto, longer sight radius, generally better triggers, a few more calibers to choose from, and less felt recoil impulse. Downsides are they’re bigger, heavier, and harder to conceal. They don’t do anything better than full-size guns but be smaller.
I haven’t tried that exact model, it looks okay, im sure it would work fine for you but I don’t see how it stands out in the current market. Flat faced triggers are a meme, the slide is huge, the bore axis looks high, and there’s no safety, not even a trigger safety on a striker gun? Like I guess that’s okay if thats what you like but it’s inherently less safe. I’d compare to the walther PDP, CZ sp-01 , and FN 509. If you try it and you like it but it tho, it doesn’t matter what I say, it’s your gun.
Yep! I wanted a full sized gun since it's just gonna be for home defense and to take to the range when i've got some spare time and money for ammo. A gun friend told me to pick up a glock or sig and I thought the p320 looked nice. I might buy a 1911 down the line since they just look cool. Heck, that might be a home defense gun for me, even if they're usually only 7-8 rounds.

I’d look into a BUL armory 1911 it’s really the best one one the market under a G right now. That or the handguns I mentioned before are all vetted and very well made guns.
I forgot to mention, I’ve tried the 365 and 365 plus and I’m not really impressed with them. The trigger was mediocre despite not having a trigger safety and felt flimsy like a little twig which makes me wonder why even do it like that? The manual safety feels chinsy, the grip feels super thin and like it would melt in the sun, the sights are actually pretty good and you get a red dot cutout on the plus so altogether I get that it’s sole purpose was to beat everyone in capacity but it fails at being anything more than below average at most of the other stuff imo
Nope
sigs unironically suck
snubbies have some great characteristics for certain situations and unlike sigs handguns are the best at what they were designed to do.
here's the second one, think I also have someone who inadvertently fingered a doe for a while in order to acquire "deer musk" to attract a larger male, I'll see if I can find it
I'll counter all the P365 or P365XL posts and say get a P365X instead. You get all the upsides of the XL, but it can be converted to that smaller size with a $40 grip module and 10 round magazines (use the $75 Sig-bucks rebate for these). If you just want the standard, smaller size, you can find Tacpac bundles for $550 that come with three 12-round magazines, but you will have to wait for the rebate to come through to get a 10-round magazine.
For a home defense gun, shop around for a cheap M&P 2.0 in 9mm. S&W put out an updated model with a glock-esque trigger safety so some shops are blowing out the old models for around $350. Don't pay over $400 for one.
My 365 is an odd gun. It's my best shooting compact and best feeling in my hand.
But on the flip hand it is the highest maintenance hungry gun I own. The rust it gets from a month is starting compared to the s&w guns which have been oiled once and thrown in a gun safe for 5+ years with zero rust.
As a Sigger myself, OP, they're pretty decent guns. I'm DA/SA or die but the more recent M17s or M18s are pretty decent strikers. If you buy a lower end model expect a kinda shitty trigger at first before it breaks in. Sig is basically HK without the export bullshit and gigacucked guns, but they do have more QC issues than HK and they share the inflated price tag.
>before it breaks in
What’s actually hilarious about this statement is that the trigger “break in” you’re experiencing is the internal saftey mechanism getting less and less effective. Striker fired gun without a trigger saftey is moronic.
Bump. Am also considering first legal pistol purchase. Am 5'7" manlet, don't care about printing
As opposed to your illegal purchase(s)?
