I'm thinking about getting a 3d printer for guns, but what are some other things I can print other than what are basically toys?

Whats the best way to clean the white discoloration on my cheap ass rough rider, I figured just buy another one in a few more years and throw the one in the garbage
Isn't that just zinc oxidation? Best bet is to not worry about it because it's a $100 zinc gun.
yeh, but i think there is "zinc" cleaner somewhere but whatever who cares
Take a picture so we don't have to guess what "white discoloration" is.
its zinc oxidation not cum calm down
"white discoloration" can also just be gunpowder residue, though. I recall an image from years ago where an anon had a Glock with a muzzle that was nearly pure white. Can't find shit like I remember.
nah its different than this but i know what you mean, its around the grip and loading gate so sweat/oil wearing on the zinc.
Ah yeah some of my old airguns have that corrosion. Could just scrub it down with some sandpaper or steel wool to get rid of the corroded areas and give it a thick coat of paint on the zinc parts. IIRC there's a couple of guides for painting a Daisy 880 that would probably be good enough; they're also zinc. Both are probably ZAMAK. It's a lot of work but $7 in Rusoleum high heat black gloss will work.
Also may be some kind of galvanic corrosion if it's somehow reacting with steel pins or screws holding the loading gate on? Or maybe it is sweat getting caught in the cracks?
red dot on subcompact carry guns yea or nay?
>well it depends...
shill me on what you believe in
Imo red dots might snag so it's a no for me. Plus I don't like the idea of carrying expensive stuff either, so investing in a good red dot will just add to the expense.
Depends, are you preparing for a shooting or a shootout?
Unless you train a lot with your gun and your red dot, you'll be faster putting shots on target at typical SD distances with irons. Red dots give you precision at the price of bulk. If you're carrying in case someone tries to do something violent to you in particular, I say no, if you are carrying to stop a mass shooter, its worth considering. I like my small guns to be small, but I put one on my primary CC gun, which is already hard to carry with no printing.
No RDS, no WML, Fox only, Final Destination
IMHO, nay. The added bulk is a concern on a subcompact, so is the increased chance of it snagging on something when drawing it. I don't believe the dot is going to give you a meaningful advantage at typical CCW distances anyway, especially not a big, bright, easy to see carry-type dot. I say spend the red dot money on training/ammo instead.
No. Bulk aside, a dot on a pistol is great for precision at range and speed on sequential targets, at the cost of being slower to acquire on an initial target. Self defense is almost always about acquiring and engaging a single target at very short range.
Buy more ammo and shoot more instead.
I disagree with slower target acquisition on guns (but I'm also not a fan of RDS on subcompacts. Compacts I would run one.) If you properly choose your red dot for ccw, look for something with a larger, outer circle, similar to how eotech has a 68 MOA dot. If you run a Horrosun with MRS (titanium is the only thing I'd trust with my life fwiw), they have an optic with a 32 MOA circle. If your target is at any self defense range and you have see the outer circle on their body, you can pull the trigger no matter the parallax, and your shot will land on target.
YMMV, but I shaved .4s off my draw-to-shoot time. This was with a CZ-p07 and a 508t. You can still run backup irons on some RDS too.
Subcompacts aren't really for aiming.
If you get a picture of someone's house key you can print a copy of it
What car is that? The front end is like 20 feet long.
does anyone know if sekretsanta is gonna happen this year or what the deal about it is?
Is this based on a real gun or is it a made up design?
you're me a year ago, browse the different file aggregators for your car model, popular .stl's from different months, tools, then research how you're gonna make your own doodads to mildly improve your everyday life then realize you still haven't even figured out how to "tune" your slices for printing and dive back into yootoob vids for a hundred hours and bang out some gun frames and shit. good luck
been wondering the same I guess they're also pretty useful for a cheap mounting bracket or shitty plastic part replacements or something but the poor strength even for plastic kills a lot of potential I'm just gonna wait until you can use them to print casings or something that's actually useful and justifies the cost
I disassembled one of my SKS rifles for cleaning and inexplicably could not re-insert get the trigger group into the rifle. Upon further inspection it appears the disconnector of the trigger group is a few millimeters forward of where it should be and therefor will not fit into the designated hole in the receiver.
For comparison pic related you can see a normal SKS trigger group that fits into the receiver as it should overtop of the atypical trigger group at the bottom.
I know this is a bizarre and very unusual problem but I am at a loss. I have several SKS rifles and never experienced a problem like this. Any insight or theories are very appreciated.
Make sure the safety is on.
If you are into astronomy, 3D printers are a godsend for making a bunch of parts adapters and even a complete telescope tube, just add mirrors.
https://rasc-vancouver.com/2018/10/29/diy-ultra-wide-binoculars/
Here are files for ludicrous wide field binoculars with a 25 degree field of view, made out of Nikon teleconverters mounted on a 3D printed frame.
ok glowie
For the AR platform is there any practical use for aluminum baseplates on 30 round mags? And why is 30 rounds the “standard” instead of 20 or 40?
Not really
20s are really easy to carry (especially in the gun) but put you at a disadvantage against people the AR was meant to fight (ruskies and asiatics with AKMs and 30 round mags). 40s are a little unwieldy in some circumstances but in others they make a lot of sense. 30 is a really good middle ground for most things.
Anybody got some recommendations for good ceramic plates that aren't crazy expensive?
grab some bricks. they will stop some rounds for sure
Well there not certified by lapd are good just get the lvl4
What company are you talking about?
Lapg* sorry la police gear
Learn a 3D modeling program and you can print anything conceivably made of plastic, only limited by your capabilities with Fusion360 or whatever. I’ve made a mounted headset holder for my desk, paper towel roll mount for above my sink, feet for my sister’s TV when she moved it off the wall mount, etc
Tarkov is obviously Gun Porn: The Game, but is the new looter shooter Marauders /k/ approved?
go to the thingiverse website and search terms like 'picatinny' or 'airsoft' and you'll find plenty of accessories. Not to mention 30-round mags that will just need the spring. I also print DND minis and you can use TinkerCAD's website to make anything you want out of simple shapes and text.
Should I get a 1911 and embrace my inner boomer, or a slav handgun chambered in 7.62×25mm Tokarev to match the rest of my slav stuff?
Can you get/afford the ammo?
Only buy a tok if you can get one sub $300, only buy a 1911 if you are spending at least like $800
I am a homosexual and israelite pilled so I make my hobby pay for itself. If your competent at 3d printing and basic business operations you can run a print farm.
homosexuals online will claim that you can make 10k per year per printer but that is actual bullshit. I have 3 separate printers and probably make ~ 3200 a year per printer post expenses.
of course all my printers are specialty printers and a FDM printer like a prusa will make way less then that.
Depends how creative you are. I've seen people printing little doodads like magazine loaders, magazine blocks for cucked states, etc. and making/shipping them as orders come in rather than keeping any on hand. It's a very low cost model that isn't lucrative by itself but might scale to pretty decent profitability.
So it's part what you make and part how you market/make/stock/ship it.
They are similar guns, but owning both the 1911 is a lot nicer. Ammunition is substantially cheaper for 45 as well, with 7.62x25mm being a niche low volume/high cost caliber. A Tok can run 7.63x25 Mauser as well but it isn't any cheaper.
If you really want a Tokarev the Rguns Chinese T54s are a pretty reasonable deal, but you will have to spend a few extra bucks on a replacement trigger without the safety since that modification makes it absolutely horrible to shoot (necessary for import but easy to swap out).
Baseplate isn't under that much stress so you can have a plastic one with an integrated magazine pull if you want. No real reason not to other than slightly longer length.
30 is a good compromise of length/weight/capacity/reliability. Longer magazines might kink up and have feed jams if made poorly, or at least be inconveniently long/bulky. 20s and 25s are handy, but not enough to be worth the loss of capacity most of the time although I sometimes like 20rd length magazines at the range for feel/balance/looks.
Also 20rd tends to be standard capacity for battle rifles. 30s exist there but get bulky.
From the barrel assembly back it looks like an X-frame S&W.
1970s Chevrolet/GM. Not sure what model exactly since they like to share platforms between models/brands.
Yeah back then huge inefficient land yachts with gigantic motors making no power at all was the norm. One of them ending up as a range obstacle isn't surprising because they held value like old milk.
is that george harrison
Is there any place to get an SKS kit? I don't mind needing to get a synthetic lower, but I have been trying like hell to get one and no one carries it in my area.
You can't make a 3d printed or synthetic receiver for an SKS. It's a pressure bearing component. Even mounting a barrel into a stripped receiver is tricky. You can probably buy a stripped barreled receiver, but by the time you scrounge up all the parts for it piecemeal you would have probably spent more money than simply overpaying for a complete rifle.
Your best bet is to keep looking for a complete rifle and hope you find some boomer or one of their kids looking to sell who only has a bluebook from the 1990s as a reference to price. Happens once in a blue moon.
The hell are you talking about, I literally saw someone had a fiberglass stock for an SKS which is why I asked it here. I'm not talking about PLA or Nylon.
Are you talking about the stock or the receiver? Because when you said synthetic lower I figured you were talking about getting a plastic receiver like you can do on an AR-15.
The stock can be plastic of course. Original wood ones aren't that hard to find though.
Was talking about the stock, yes. But the main point is just trying to not pay 500 dollars for a fricking SKS. I wanted to get one for 400 during 2020, but had some roadblocks. Was gonna get it from someone else, but then that person flaked on me and now I'm left looking for a chink rifle that doesn't cost more than the shit AR I slapped together.
It's really very unlikely. SKSes are just not cheap anymore. It's worth noting that even the Chinese ones do have a bit of work put in them, fully chrome lined barrels and many forged steel parts as opposed to most budget ARs. It's kind of hard to compare an SKS like for like to an AR in terms of true value.
Best bet would probably be one of the really grungy Sino-Soviet ones that came from Albania recently. They were stored in horrendous conditions and the exterior condition tends to be terrible. Their stocks are often severely damaged or broken, but they make for good projects. Because they often haven't been fired much or at all they tend to clean up into good solid shooters.
If you just want best bang for buck in terms of usability and convenience your existing AR is probably a better rifle.
Oh, I have more working arms than I know what to do with, and far more valuable. I just want an SKS to goof around with, maybe go after some hogs, a total vanity purchase. Where might one find those Albanian nightmares you mentioned?
Looks like JG Sales has some for $400.
https://www.jgsales.com/chinese-sks-type-56-semi-auto-rifle,-7.62x39,-factory-26-surplus,-fair,-spike-bayo,-c+r.-p-106470.html?SID
Looks like P38.
Online for sure. If you're paying 80-120cpr for 9mm you are getting ripped off. You can get it online for under 40cpr all day.
Do you live in California or a state where mail ordering ammunition is restricted? I live in CA and I can buy 9mm in stores for way less than you're paying.
The switch is a decide that replaced the backplate with a selectable auto sear. When installed and switches to auto the gun will fire full auto, but obviously it stops if you let go of the trigger. People are probably doing magdumps because they are showing off, or perhaps with such a high rate of fire it might be tricky to let go before the magazine is empty.
It's worth trying.
If you don't have a shotgun no reason not to get a basic Maverick 88 or something. It's not the best fastest 3 gun shotgun by any means, but it's cheap and does general shotgun duties well.
>It's worth trying.
>If you don't have a shotgun no reason not to get a basic Maverick 88 or something
Is there a benefit towards having a longer or shorter barrel for 3gun?
If you're not using a red dot you have a longer sight radius with the longer barrel, makes it easier to hit. Also, if you're shooting 3-gun you probably have a huge mag tube extension on the gun, it's length makes a short barrel pointless.
Thanks
Note the Mossberg 500 and Maverick 88 cannot accept tube extensions. Do not buy the 28" field version. If you want capacity get the 20" 7+1 capacity model.
If you want to mount optics like a red dot or holo sight get the Mossberg 500. The cheaper Maverick 88 doesn't have the receiver drilled and tapped for an optics rail, which the 500 does. At their core they are basically the same gun, but the 88 omits a few features to get the price down.
Is it just me, or does /k/ seem to have a lot of Resident Evil fans? Not that I'm complaining, but it just seems like the fandom is over represented around here.
literally first time I have ever seen it mentioned but I dont read every single thread I guess
Whenever the topic of "owning guns because of media" comes up, it always seems to be a number of Resident Evil fans and a couple anime enjoyers replying.
I mean there's a few of us on here but I can count on my hands how many others I've met and still have fingers left over. I mean a lot of fun enthusiasts like RE cause the series has a lot of fun porn,. I imagine the programmers for them are also gun nuts
>>Gun enthusiasts
>>Gun porn
I should really stop phone posting I hate autocorrect
The opening animation of raccoon city being overrun in re2 stuck with me since 1998.
Is 3 gun fun? Seems like it could be, but I don't have a shotgun. Anyone know of any good beginner friendly courses in western Washington?
>other than what are basically toys?
sell that shit on etsy and you can pay for the printer
What vests are they wearing? The vest might not be from the USSR
You know they’re East German anon?
Those uniforms are rain pattern...
I know that, but special forces/SWAT equivalents in the USSR did sometimes get equipment from the West. Like the TIG helmets from Switzerland that the Soviets then copied, or the arms trafficking ring that gave DDR special forces western weapons
best trigger for a 15-22? i live in britcuckistan if that helps
I have made a lot of mounts for my dad to put shit up around the house. I fricked around in Tinkercad for little doodad parts here and there and am currently learning to use blender for more advanced models. Probably not the best software for 3d design but I already am familiar with it so might as well keep using it.
I have no idea what auto sears or glock switches are. But every time I see a video of glock switches, I see full mag dumps.
Are auto sears the same as a glock switch? can you burst a glock-switched glock? or is it one press=full mag dump?
Nothing I'm aware of makes the mag dump on any gun with one pull of the trigger unless you hold it down, 'glock switch' is, to my knowledge, just a glock specific term for auto sear/selector.
Btw don't order one, you won't get it and men in black tahoes will show up and shoot your dog.
So just to confirm for my dummy brain, you can burst based on letting go of the trigger and squeezing again? I was wondering if it forced your gun to "run".
lmao I live in a shit hole where even pistols are hard to get... so no worries being captured, even if I'm on a new list, thanks for the info friendo
You're seeing mag dumps because people want to prove that they have a "switch" by dumping a mag. Also Black folk.
The device just switches the gun to automatic, it fires until you release the trigger. It doesn't turn it to "runaway dump the entire magazine" mode.
Is it better to buy ammo local or online? just got a new glock and I've been trying to shoot it once a week but a box of range ammo for 9mm around me is like 40-60 for a box of 50 fmjs.
If you can afford to save up for a bulk buy, yes, buy up online. I went from paying 2.30 per round of 8mm Mauser to 1.20 per round, same privi partizan. It is sometimes worth it of your particular ammo is out of stock online, I got a bunch of 7.5 French from local places while it was unavailable at any price online.
I bought a huge lot of misty AK stuff from a guy last night and found this pistol magazine in one of the boxes. Does anybody know what it’s for? It fits 8 rounds of 9mm. There are no markings on it.
Is there a hole for a mag catch on the other side? If not it's probably some oddball euro gun
No mag catch notch.
Century Arms STAR BM perhaps?
Walther P38 maybe?
What do you mean by "Century Arms STAR BM"? Did they make mags? Wish I knew if true.
But yes, the floorplate really looks like a Star BM. Anon
should take a pic of the floorplate and any part inside. The BM has a weird floorplate, button (sheetmetal), and spring end. That folded over floorplate made from sheetmetal is very Star BM. Perhaps it's another Star model I'm unfamiliar with. The Model B uses the same mags AFAIK as a gun store sold one of their extra B mags from a gun they had and it fit in my BM.
It's a P38 magazine, they don't have mag catches since the heel release keeps it held in from the baseplate.
Online all day long. I just bought Federal American Eagle 9mm 124gr FMJ brass case the other day. For comparison:
>You: $0.80cpr
>Me: $0.35cpr (after shipping and taxes)
You're paying over twice as much. It's like that in most brick and mortars in my experience these days. I had the same issue with some 00 buck the other day, buying bulk online was literally less than half as much even after tax + shipping. I personally like to try and start simple with places that don't tax to Texas and offer free shipping (usually conditional, e.g. buy $300+ worth of merchandise).
Aggregators to use to look for ammo:
>ammoseek
>bulkcheapammo
Price shopping can be annoying too since one site could list ammo at $0.30cpr but then you go to checkout, have to enter email first (so they can harangue you later), then address, then they tell you there will be tax and shipping is X so at the end of the day it's $0.40cpr, that's an extra $50 if you buy 1,000 rounds. I personally don't nickel and dime over it if I find something acceptable from a good company but $50 is significant.
Also consider what you're getting. I could have bought cheaper from S&B, Geco, Magtech or Aguila (Czech, Hungarian, Brazilian and Mexican, respectively) but Federal is made in Minnesota and they make great ammo and are a trusted name.
Also the type of ammo: 115gr would be a little cheaper than 124gr. Lead nose bullets would be cheaper than FMJ. Steel case would be cheaper than brass and so on.
Lastly to figure out CPR (Cost Per Round) just remember it's in order: Total Cost ÷ Number of Rounds.
E.g. if a site is offering 800 rounds at a total cost, shipped, for $287.12 then:
>287.12 ÷ 800 = 0.3589 CPR
Happy hunting.
Whoops, this anon
has it right. No mag catch for a BM, it's heel for sure.
physics moron here, why do cartridges with a higher muzzle velocity, lower weight bullet, but overall higher muzzle energy have less recoil?
isn't energy energy? is it related to specific impulse like with rockets how faster exhaust velocity at higher vehicle speeds is more efficient?
Conservation of momentum.
Bullet weight matters more in the recoil calculation while velocity matters more in the energy calculation.
>Conservation of momentum
it makes sense now because the total weight of the system is more when the bullet is heavier
Is the Rock Island Armory M1911-A1 in 10mm a solid choice of handgun, or is it shit that'll brick itself?
Why have I never seen a pistol-grip lever-action firearm before? I always see homosexual gun companies shilling their "modern take" on lever-actions but they're just old lever guns with picatinny and mlok slots on them and they're colored black.
I've asked this question before and people have said "well it's impossible, the action wouldn't work that way" but wouldn't it? I'm not saying pivot the entire action, I'm just saying pivot the handle on the lever and keep the action exactly where it is now. Wouldn't that work?
Picrelated is my shitty attempt at photoshopping what I picture that'd look like. I genuinely wanna know if and why it wouldn't work
Yes that would work.
It's not too far off from the Volcanic pistol, a predecessor to modern leverguns.
If you're asking why people haven't made a rifle with a stock and a pistol grip? Because the standard stock is more ergonomic. People weren't morons back in the day, modern guns have become less ergonomic since the early 20th century because we've been trading off ergos for compactness and capacity, or the need for the functional parts of the gun's mechanism to dictate its shape.
forgot pic
Are you meant to operate the action with your middle finger while still maintaining an otherwise proper grip?
Really? I feel like pistol grips are way more comfortable than those long sweeping grips. I feel way more comfortable holding an AR than a mosin or an arisaka or whatever else, I love the old guns but the grips just aren't comfy for my wrist
If you're talking about military guns specifically then things get a bit more complex. Early ones were often heavy and clunky because of the need to standardize and reduce the cost of mass production. I'll grant you that the average AR is more ergonomic--it's got an adjustable LOP, it's much lighter, etc.
Sporting arms are a different story though.
3d printers are awesome for making little bullshit ding a lings for tools n shit
like I have a drawer full of ER20 Tormach endmill holders, they are round so they just bang around in the drawer, 3d print up some brackets that precisely fit the holders now the drawer is all organized and they dont roll around
or like Im sick of not having a place for the chuck key on my drill press, print up a little bracket so I can stick the key in there
or I need to drill 9 holes in precise areas, print up a drill template
or I need to file something that has a compound arc in it, print up a fixture that holds the part with fall away up to the shape I need to file into the part, now I can quickly file in a precise shape
or I want to do some metal casting, print up the part as a pattern, coat it in bondo or epoxy, sand that smooth, now I have a complex casting pattern EZ
maybe theres some little bullshit braket on a window that is broken that is a complex shape andnot made anymore, model it in CAD and print one up
I use my ender almost every day for bullshit like this
Where can I find black polymer grips for my BHP?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/323504588280
Cool, thanks!
If you have basic CAD expertise or know where to look online you can make stuff like shotgun shell holders or those nifty plastic cases reloaders store their shinies in for pennies on the dollar. It's also a godsend if you're into hobbyist robotics or stuff like arduino automation, which you should be because those things are cool and can be very /k/ with a go-getter attitude.
Don't bother trying to rely on them for any sort of heavy use, but filament's so cheap that even a wagie can have an infinite supply of basically whatever cheap plastic shit they want (within reason).
Also buy calipers, and if you're getting a cheap chinkesium model I'd also suggest learning how to soldier.
How do I find a cryptid gf this Halloween season?
Just go innawoods and start shouting picrelated.
Are wendigo gfs generally loving? No weird "only is around during a full moon" bullshit?
Does anyone have the webm to the pov video in ukraine of the guy shooting like four people at about 7 yards with an ak74, looked like they were coming out of the smoke by a btr or bmp or something
whats the greatest distance you would be comfortable shooting at a traffic light from a sunroof?
Like shooting at the actual traffic lights, or an aggressor in another vehicle? I might be having a tard moment, but I'm not clear on the theoretical situation.
Depends on how much I’ve had to drink
Traffic lights are pretty big anon, even the small lenses are about 8". Call it 30 yards with a pistol if I have no backstop. With a rifle, depends on the rifle.
Peltor Sport Tac 500s or 300? A friend says 500 has better audio quality, not too keen on the price but it's not like I'll be buying them any more than once. The amazon reviews on the 500 look downright brutal (or maybe that's boomers just upvoting all the 1 star reviews to the front of the page), but I'm unsure which of the two to go for and bluetooth might be... marginally useful, at least for listening to music, I guess.
What happens if theres a guy in the boot camp or training phase and he is super fit follows orders is disciplined and doesnt frick up? Does he still get smoked or do they still try to break him
Sorry for not using other pronouns cos you know those people wont be joining the military lol am I right guys
Who gives a shit about zogbots and their training?
Basic is all about group punishment to promote teamwork. So even if you never frick up, you will still get smoked, just not as much. Also it depends on the drill sergeant, some legitimately have personality disorders and take it out on recruits and attempt to break them.
What is the worst boomer advice you have ever heard? I would say calling a double barrel shotgun a "hallway howitzer" that will spread and magically fill up an entire hallway with shot that will anything and everything in it path
Most things about shotguns, that you don't have to aim pistols, autoloaders are inherently unreliable, 9mm and .40s&w are too weak but .45 is a definite 1 hit stop and .38 is a 'real manstopper'...
I really like the old leather pouches classic stripper clip fed bolt actions use, but my only bolt action is a 7.35 Carcano and that ammo is unobtanium. Can those pouches fit any decent amount of shotgun shells? I haven't taken any shells to a surplus store to check
The Russian mosin pouches (which are honestly the best tbh, the rubberized faux leather canvas they used holds up a lot better over time) will hold 6 shells of 12 ga in each cell, the German style k98 3 cell pouches only hold two per cell
I don't have one on hand but the JNA pouches are a lot bigger and I bet you could fit like 8 in them.
I've heard of a few people using them for 4.10 or 20ga, which would hold a lot more, but I only have 12ga ammo on hand atm.
soviet kirza pouches my good man
do coach guns with hammers have any benefit over non hammered guns?
No. It's just an aesthetic choice.
Some people keep them loaded with the hammers down, which can be quite unsafe depending of the gun's design. And that's about it.
Do you ever stop to think about how cool the AR is? It's the most common rifle design, so we rarely ever talk about how special it is from a mechanical standpoint. When you actually think about how good the concepts were, you understand why the military thought that it was pure magic back in 1960s and that they could do the dumbest shit with the design.
I always found the idea of the barrel extension and buffer tube real neat ideas to lighten up a rifle a shame they're pretty underappreciated and not copied too much I bet you could find a way to fold the buffer tube on top of the receiver to make it foldable or a bullpup instead of just making the recoil worse
normally it's no trouble just pack unloaded in checked luggage but what do you mean by territory might have to specifically look up the rules regarding posession and bringing them in for where you're going some places will have extra rules or license requirements like puerto rico
definitely adequate only thing it won't kill just fine is a bear but neither will anything else short of 10mm or .44
Was gonna go to Guam, then Puerto Rico afterward.
Has anyone ever gotten on a plane with their rifles to go to a US territory before? Plan to visit with some relatives who live out there, not sure what issues if any might arise from taking a pelican case with me on my flight. Wanna go hunting for some hogs to roast for a party.
Anyone's shooting a P38 regularly?
I read on forums their slide can crack, for some it happens after shooting like 10 rds, meanwhile some others have no issues at all after hundreds if not thousands of rounds. Internet exacerbates issues that can be relatively rare so I don't really know what to think. After all these pistols were in use in several military/police forces for years after the war so obviously they can last for pretty long. What do you guys think?
I got really autistically into miami vice lately. What are some guns I should look into just for having fun and larping at the range? I know I gotta get a pistol grip shotgun after watching "nobody lives forever". I've got my bases covered from a "having practical weapons" standpoint so I'd just like to have some fun pieces.
Nickle plated 1911s, Beretta 92fs', and S&W automatics are what come to mind for me.
I've had my eye on a 92fs for a while. Any good recs for nickel plated 1911s? do most companies make them?
RIA since it is just a fun gun anyway
I've never messed with a 92fs but I love my 92A1. If it's just a fun gun then the rail shouldn't matter.
Im not aware of any major American company that still produces a nickel plated 1911 go the RIA route or find a vintage one if you have the money to spare.
>I've got my bases covered from a "having practical weapons" standpoint
dont be a homosexual, you dont have to announce this
He does have to announce it because otherwise there's going to be tons of morons telling him to get an AR instead.
you can ignore morons, homosexual
Can't do that if all the responders are morons
i said it for this
reason yes
Anybody know a good universal small pistol conceal carry nylon holster that is a bit longer so it won't get caught up on concealed suppressors?
I have a generic one but when I conceal carry my Keltec p17 or Walther p22 with suppressor, sometimes the nylon gets caught on and folds backward on the suppressor, preventing my ability to draw the firearm
>nylon
>universal
>good
You already spent the money on a can why not just find some nice kydex or have one custom made for the gun in question + can. The end product will be much better.
okay where is a good place to make holsters for that?
Is a 45 acp handgun good enough to take down most animals in defensive situations? I want to go camping innawoods, but I'm definitely going to carry if I'm alone.
To give an idea of what's around, I'm in the pacific northwest area
Which gun? If it'll eat non-nuclear 45 Super with a spring swap, that'd be the way to go. ACP is a bit weedy.
What is a powerful flashlight i can mount? I want my flashlight to be stronger than my 5.56
Can anyone ID this cap?

Did this cum guzzling commie ever recover from his franklin armory sperg out?
How much fat would someone need to have to stop pellets from a load of birdshot from ~20ft?
I'm going to take a guess and say that a layer of real armor is better than being a fat frick.
I have a soft leather clip holster like this but for my ppks is there any reason I can't just clip it to the inside of my underwear and carry like that? will it chafe my dick?
did I frick up buying an amber circle dot baby acog
Was the MP5 used by special forces in the Vietnam War or is this just fuddlore?
don't remember ever seeing any direct evidence, but we know seals tried out some HK33s so it stands to reason that some MP5s made it over in small numbers as well
I bought the 1.5x for a 5.7 Banshee, honestly just to buy something other than another Eotech
Anyone know any online shops that simply don't give a frick about mags and will ship whatever I want to my shithole state?
This is why you need a 3D printer. You can print your own magazines.
You can buy an Ender 3 for $100 when they're on sale at Microcenter. Try to find the older ones because the latest CReality products have some sort of shitty firmware that tries to lock you into their ecosystem.
Random thought just popped into my head. Are there semi-automatic guns that use a tubular magazine? Shotguns excluded.
I know of 22 rifles with tubes but the mechanism is a little different from a pump action shotgun
Does a semi auto .22lr count? Because if so, there's plenty. The Marlin Model 60 comes to mind.
Yeah, that certainly counts. Wasn't sure if there were larger calibers that utilize it too
Henry Rifle, Winchester 94 in a bout a zillion different calibers,Spencer Rifle had one in the stock...
Thanks anon
What's the situation with CAS in the Ukrainian side? How about the Russian side? If non-existent, has either side attempted to use CAS?
>what are some other things I can print other than what are basically toys?
The world is your oyster when you have a 3D printer, Anon.
The gas cooktop in my apartment has a weird shutoff mechanism that wouldn't work at low settings. I printed something to lock the shutoff so that I could get a low flame for most of my cooking (sauteeing vegetables, making omelets, making sauces).
You can make grenades. I have several designs now.
You can make happy fun firecontrol parts for the AR-15 and the Glock. Yankee Boogle, Buenos DIAS, LLs, bunch more designs available.
I also made a fill tube for my air mattress because the air pump I have was cut out of my old air mattress and isn't actually designed to work as a separate pump. The tube has a double taper on it so that one end fits the air pump and the other end fits into the air mattress. The tapers are to ensure that I can force them in on both sides to make a tight seal.
3D printers are almost a necessity if you're into quadcopters. You can make all sorts of interesting customizations, from grenade droppers (and grenades) to rotor guards to burrito carriers to camera mounts to I dunno what else.
Sextoys. Want a custom dildo for your ass? Print a mold and then cast it in silicone. Want your girlfriend (or "girlfriend") to wear a tailplug? Custom fit it to her (or "her") butthole.
Cosplay armor, cosplay swords, cosplay accessories.
Wings and fuselages for drones.
Replacement keycaps for your favorite keyboard (resin printers are better for this).
USB flash drive organizers.
Robot parts.
Positives for making investment casting molds. Use PLA, then burn it out.
Tools to shape things. I watched a video where someone was making a manifold for some weird car thing like a turbo or whatever. The ends of the tubes connecting it to the engine, and the tube ends for connecting to the whatever, had to have specific shapes. He pressed aluminum over printed plastic to get the shapes correct.
Which printer is good to start out on and what kind of investment is needed up front. I’ve always wanted to print goofy magazines and knick knacks to give away but have never really took the time.
You can buy an Ender 3 for $100 on sale at Microcenter, or build a Voron for around $2000. A factory-built Prusa is in the middle at about $1100. It all depends on your budget and your interest level.
You might have to spend a few days getting the Ender tuned and tweaked, and it will be lacking some of the higher-end features like a PEI bed. A factory-built Prusa is normally ready to produce high quality output as soon as it's plugged in, and I think they come with a spring-steel PEI bed (printing surface) included. The Voron is a home-built machine that you can customize in exactly the way you want, so there's not really a comparison.
And then there are also the more specialized printers like the CR-30, which is a belt bed printer so that you can print items that are long in one direction. People print six-foot-long cosplay swords on those.
As other anon said, I do recommend starting with an ender 3. They aren't hard to get running, but as cheap as they are you can do most stuff with it. If you like printing you can find a printer that has the stuff you really want. If you dont like it, you can sell and recoup some of your money and only be out 50-100 bucks.
I run a syndaver Axi 2, but I started on an ender 3v2.
Any Swedes know a store with pyrodex in stock? All of the online ones seem to be sold out.
Is "Seasoning" guns a thing? Just like how you would season a cast iron pan.
Wipe it down with a light coat of oil and stick it in the oven at 300 or so for a bit then take it out and let it cool to room temp then repeat until desired results.
Has anybody done this?
Parkerized surfaces need oil to be effective. Parkerization creates tiny cavities in the surface of the metal, and when you oil it you're filling those cavities and giving it the corrosion resistance
>Is "Seasoning" guns a thing?
Kinda. Muzzleloaders are known to foul a lot when they are brand new and as they are shot the constant application of bullet lube to the bore with every shot makes it smooth out and become easier and easier to clean over time. Also, in the past (19th century and before) all sorts of strange methods were used for "browning" or "blacking" barrels. Some of these methods would have called for using heat to polymerize an oil, wax, fat, etc, on the metal to stop it rusting.
I would not go sticking guns in the oven at any sort of high temperature, you could easily frick up the heat treatment of the metal since domestic ovens are notoriously inaccurate. And what would be the purpose? We have much better surface treatments available nowadays and guns aren't made out of cast iron.
Idk I'm bored and thought it would be worth a shot. Might do it with my cheap pistol just because. I doubt 300-350 degrees would frick anything up as long as I don't quench it.
>I doubt 300-350 degrees would frick anything up
I doubt it would either.
The question you should be asking is how do you know that's the temperature they will actually be at? If you have a lab oven, fine. If you have a normal residential cooking oven and you set it for 350 it can EASILY be off by 50 degrees or more, not to mention the temperature will oscillate above and below your set temp because domestic ovens have shitty bang-bang thermostats instead of proper PID control. I wouldn't trust a domestic oven with 100 degrees of any sort of tempering temperature.
Anyway, hopefully the pointless built-up coating of oil you'll be applying to your pistol won't be thick enough to induce malfunctions.
>hopefully the pointless built-up coating of oil you'll be applying to your pistol won't be thick enough to induce malfunctions
Yea, hopefully. That's why I'm using my cheap gun. I'll just stick in a thermometer to make sure it isn't wildly off. And I have convection so heat throughout the oven should be the same.
It will be impossible to ruin a barrel's heat treatment with a domestic kitchen oven. Don't worry about. You'd have to leave it in there for months/years at the highest setting to get all the precipitates back into the metallic solution, which would be the definition of ruining the heat treatment.
I am going to spray paint my tac 14 white, what is the best way to do this? Do I just get white paint or do I need primer first?
Any recommendation for precision stock that attaches to a 1913 rail?
I was recently looking to purchase a PX4 storm compact and saw some gucci versions with “trigger jobs”. Looking into it more no components were replaced and all that was done was “polishing all points of contact”.
What’s to stop someone from doing this themselves? Maybe I’m naïve but it doesn’t seem that complicated to get some fine grit and israeliteelers polish to smooth components down yourself.
Anyone I’ve experience doing this? Is this a terrible idea?
Jeweler's polish is so fine it won't frick anything up. Its used on the softest metals so hard steel guns will be more than fine. Go ahead and try it. I shot a full size px4 and loved the stock trigger.
Thanks, yeah I’m not even sure what polishing does to a trigger or if it’s just some scam to get and extra $200 from some rube.
I really like the gun, I want a G19 sized “do it all” type pistol and DA/SA is a must so I don’t get Glock/sig leg.
Not the guy you replied to, but the PX4 has an excellent trigger to begin with. I wouldn't pay an extra $200 for some homosexual to mess with it.
Actually anon, what is used are fine grained cutting stones similar to what you sharpen a knife. If you accidentally change the geometry of your pistol’s trigger, you can do some serious harm. You want your trigger release to feel like breaking a glass rod,and not release when you just look at it. Think it over hard and do some serious research.
You didn’t even know what it was done with...Understand?
Does anyone know the patent number for the M17s trigger linkage?
The webpage says it's patented but I can't find anything on it
Might be possible to search for it on the USPTO search engine website.
Do you have an approximate year? Do you know what the official name of the company is (patent is probably assigned to them)?
it's made by an arizona company called K&M Arms LLC.
I thought I recognized the name, that was Bushmaster's AR-replacement. It's been around for 30 or so years.
Looks like it was first publicly sold in 1992. The company name at the time might have been Bushmaster, or might have been Windham. They changed their corporate shell a few times over the years.
USPTO apparently ditched their old search system some time in the last couple of months. I'm not getting anywhere with the new one; I'm going to have to learn to use the fricking thing. I can't even tell if they are still using the old parameter names -- I searched for "Microsoft" and got one result total.
Wiki says that the rifle was designed by an Australian company named "Armtech", so that might be the original patentee. Not finding anything with Google, though.
How do I date my government assigned glowie? I'm sure she's a qt, and surely she wouldn't infringe upon her bf
I picture her watching me over my webcam as I jerk off to joshis
Would I be laughed off the premises if I brought a coach gun to a trap range?
As long as you dont act like a prick, no one gives a frick what you shoot
Not necessarily laughed at, but some trap ranges have a minimum barrel length requirement. This is usually posted so it's something to check in advance.
You might also get a lot of spread if you have full cylinder bore barrels (IE no choke) which could make it hard to reliably break clays when they fly out a bit too far.
Pretty sure if you have one it would be a conflict of interest, so they wouldn't want to date you for that reason alone. Weirder things have happened though.
Don't sxs shotguns generally have a different choke in each barrel? IIRC it was cylinder (no choke) in one and a much tighter one in the other. You might have issues with that depending on how it's set up.
I would ask /hg/ (handgun general) about that, but the only thing I'd be concerned with IMO is if the timing is right for both of the cylinders. Basically that the bullets align with the barrel when it's fired. I would assume whoever had an extra cylinder had it fit to the gun, but you never know. If they were fit or re-fit, you may see some hammer or punch marks around the cuts on the side/rear of the cylinder to move metal where the "bolt" or "cylinder stop" (depends what you want to call it) locks the cylinder from moving just before the hammer drops (part is towards the rear bottom of the cylinder cutout). An anon in an old /rg/ (revolver general) thread had a revolver had had its timing (or lockup, perhaps) adjusted in that way. And IIRC you can shoot .38 S&W out of a .38 special so I don't see why you couldn't shoot .38 special out of a .38 S&W (with converted cylinder or a swappable cylinder unless they have a different forcing cone shape or something.
But we all know that someone will correct me if I said some dumb shit, I hope.
Hey /k/, I got one for you guys. I recently inherited an M11 or 10 S&W revolver. It says 38S&W on the barrel; but it seems that the cylinder was swapped with one for 38spl. There was an extra cylinder in the case with the firearm that has numbers matching the frame. This extra cylinder will not accept my 38spl ammo but the one currently in the firearm will. Am I going to blow my hand off running 38spl out of this thing?
>tl;dr is .38spl and .38s&w the same size bullet with just casing differences?
Thanks /k/.
There were lots of post-WWII Victory model M-10s that had their .38 S&W cylinders drilled out to chamber .38 Spl. and had no problems with firing as long as timing was fine, since .38 Spl. is a very low pressure round as far as handgun rounds go. If you’re concerned about the bore diameter being too small, just use plain lead bullets that will shave off in the forcing cone more, but there shouldn’t be an issue.
I'm looking for a weapon that:
a) can reliably kill small game (rabbits, squirrels etc.) at close range
b) can be easily concealed under a jacket
c) doesn't make more noise than e.g. a nailgun
Right now I'm thinking an air pistol of some kind is my best bet. What does /k/ recommend?
an air pistol
>can reliably kill small game
>air pistol
>can be easily concealed under a jacket
not going to happen. any airpistol capable of killing small game will be frickhuge and extremely expensive
Should I try and be a trap when operator larping? Is pretending to be a grill a good strategy when SHTF?
Try it at a bar first and report back.
Try what? Operating?
Pretend to be a girl at a bar and report back if you're not left in a dumpster with a bullet hole in you.
It is a good grayman loadout since by default people assume troons are nogunz liberal sheep
I wish I had taken a picture at the house but I spray painted my carrier with zylon "Spanish moss", it looked od from the can top and the spray test I did at the store but once I painted the carrier it's way too green. What can I do to bring it closer to olive? Should I go over it with a couple coats of khaki or what? It sticks out a bit and doesn't match my kit colors at all.
The carrier was originally black, the paint even looks almost slightly blueish now. I just want to fix it with at least a pattern or something, I don't want to have to get a whole nother carrier. I'm still investing in my battle belt.
Are braces still legal or nah?
get invisalign instead
How should I go about cleaning metal magazines? I recently bought some surplus metric FAL mags, and they look they’re in pretty good condition barring some grease from storage and maybe light rust.
Light solvent for the grease, mineral spirits or simple green work well, and a brass brush for any rust that may impede the follower
>FAL mags
>surplus
If you don't want to tell, fine, but where? Assuming this was online.
I inhereted a gas operated shotgun recently . A Bentley (not a Benelli) classic mod. 600. A full fixed choke, 2 and 3/4 inch chamber ,12 Bore . My question is : , what the frick is a Bentley?
I found very little mention of it anywhere , i doubt that the carmaker Bentley decided to make guns (possible, since benelli also used to make motorcycles). The barrel is stamped with "Made in Japan". I know the blueing is fricked i plan to have it redone soon
>Bentley
ayo finna put some spinners on it bussin bussin fr
huh?
Look at the picture If you do not belive me, it is called a "Bentley".
I have no Idea where the "Bentley Brand?, Company?, Importer?" originated from,.
Well at least I can tell Girls I have a Bentley before flashing my 12 gauge.
>Bentley is another trade name of the Philippine Company of Squires Bingham
did some googling idk, seems right
Thank you. There was a mention of a bentley pumpaction but nothing on the semiauto. Philipines had one bentley company and Auzzies had another tied to some sterling ammo company (im writing from memmory due to being in a rush) so I was at a loss. I will check Squires Bingham
>what the frick is a Bentley?
A cheap POS given a fancy-sounding name so it can be more easily sold. You see this a lot with shotguns because they are trying to sound like the names of the famous old UK makers like Holland & Holland, Charles Lancaster, Manton, Purdey, Alexander Henry, Boss, Churchill, etc.
It's assuredly a copy of some existing design, maybe a Remington 1100? Post a pic zoomed out where we can see more of the gun.
Here is a pic of a partial "dissasembly". To me it seems that the "Gas catcher cup (bright steel cilindre behind the "gas block" )unlocks the action while the recoil cycles it, . I am not taking the pins out (at least not yet)to show you the guts but there is NO visible spring in there however there is a metal "rod" behind the bolt that seems to get pushed into the grip/stock when cycling so the spring is prolly located there. It is around 3.7 kg, /8 lbs 2.5 ounces (dont have a good scale) . It cycles light 24 gram-- (7/8 of an ounce loads, i tested multiple ammo brands ), and heavyer B&P 36 grams -- (slightly heavyer then 1 and 1/8 of an ounce ) shells reliably. With exceptions (mirage dispersion 36g is the only non reliable ammo for it I have found, the casing occasionally expands to much and the extractor can not fully extract it or feed it back on its own, might be gun or ammo related, prolly an occasional " bad" shell ). The pattern is centered, and the gun "fits" me so i can quickly find the sights. It only takes 2 and 3/4 inch shells (12/70 mm) capacity has been plugged to 2+1. My late grandfather bought it in the 80s for around 5000 doich marks(he claimed 5000 but he might have been telling tall tails for other hunters, as one occasionally does)
I know you guys are tired of Ukraine posting but I'm wondering if anyone knows what if being fired in this video. Just curious to know the state of the Russian arsenal, seeing as he seems to be taking pride in this thing using it for propaganda and all.
57mm s-60 anti aircraft gun mounted on a truck apparently both sides have been using them and also seen in the middle east probably useless for any other purpose than ground support since it's about equivalent to a bofors
a suppressed .22 pistol is your best bet but good luck with the wait time maybe you could get a bullpup air rifle if your jacket is a trench coat
.38 special has a slightly smaller bullet and converting .38 s&w guns to it was fairly common so it's safe, especially if it's a new .38 special cylinder made for those pressures
What's the name of the paper that off-gases rust inhibiting fumes so I can keep my reloading dies from rusting in this putrid south Georgia "air"?
how much longer do you guys think the military is going to go along pretending that biden is president?
is .44 magnum the perfect woods gun? I just found out they make cci shotshells in #4 which would be great for popping squirrels plus you have .44 magnum to kill anything else only problem of course is ammo cost
won't rifling throw your shot pattern into a donut?
Yeah it's fricking great, go pattern them on a sheet of tin for lols. But at ~15 feet it really doesn't matter all that much, there's the Judge guy on here who hunts dove with his and he's fairly good at it.
Forgot about that guy. Was just saying as squirrels are small targets and they don't often let you get close (unless in an area they're not hunted much).
Does bullet construction affect how a rifle feeds or is my rifle picky?
>My rifle doesn't want to feed Norma 150 grain 30-06 soft point (they are short looking)
>bullets either hit feed ramp or hit next to the chamber
>didn't really give me issues with some 168 and 175 grain bullets
>220 grain round nose and solid copper is iffy
>mfw I found out mannlicher-schönauer rifles are picky as frick when it comes to OAL
that answered the feed ramp thing but hitting next to the chamber is an issue I would like to know how to remedy as my type I has a similar issue with 160 grain ammo
I am ethnically Russian and fully support the west/Ukraine.
How do I COPE with the fact that westerners will now assume I am a member of a violent, low IQ, inferior race?
nobody cares until you start spouting that moronic pidorashka kokoko
t. westerner
you can start by not falling for israelite propaganda and supporting the good guys (russia)
russia and discount russia are completely interchangable both are corrupt post soviet shitholes full of moronic russians
Most people won't know which variety of Slav you are, unless of course you have a Russian accent. If anyone asks, just tell them that you support Ukraine.
I for one don't assume anything about what side someone is on. My boss's wife is Russian and has been angry and unhappy about the whole mess since it started in 2014; she hates Putin for it. Meanwhile I have a longtime friend from Texas who apparently has brain damage or something because he fell for the Russian propaganda line and is rootin' for Pootin. Sad, many such cases.
My one recent experience with a Russian was finding out that the owner of a specialty retailer I was buying some stuff from is a Russian emigrant. I didn't want to bring up the war because I'm sure he's gotten enough people b***hing at him about it already. Since he's not in Russia, I assume he's seen the real news about the situation and isn't brainwashed. I hope when I departed his shop, he thought, "wow, that was nice, I didn't get shit on for being Russian for once this week" and had a better day.
But maybe I'm just weird, since I'm a dual citizen of Iran, and no one looks at middle-class white American me and says "I bet he fricks camels in his spare time." I constantly run into people who seem perfectly polite and then they start spouting off about glassing Tehran "because Israel is our greatest ally!" and so on. Meanwhile, the Israelis sell American weapons system secrets to China, and they've murdered hundreds of Iranians just to try to stop or slow down research projects in Iran, but apparently all of that is just fine in the minds of patriotic Murricans like the "nuke Iran!" crowd. And of course if I try to explain that, gee, maybe the U.S. shouldn't have overthrown the Iranian government in the 1950s, then installed a brutal dictator for the next quarter century, and yes the U.S. embassy really was a bunch of CIA spies, and by the way most Iranians hate the Islamist regime and are pro-American, they get all pissy.
I bought a wood stock for my maverick 88 but my stock bolt is way too short. Will any longer stock bolt work?
What's the expected barrel life out of one that's cold hammer forged and chrome lined? Also, would using a red dot + magnifier on a .308 rifle be limiting its capabilities?
>using a red dot + magnifier on a .308 rifle be limiting its capabilities?
Depends your location. Where I hunt 50 yards is the average shot on deer
I'm in a suburb. I have a 5.56 rifle already and my range only goes out to 100 yds, so I feel like adding an optic to my .308 would get me nowhere.
I meant magnified optic
I too am considering upgrading to a carbon fiber capable printer myself.
What can I print in nylon/carbon fiber to justify dropping 1.5k on a new machine? Current printer is almost 8 years old now.
Is Gunbroker supposed to be a hassle to fricking set up? It wants a dozen different things before it lets you use it.
I can't decide whether I want an AK or an AR, dubs decides for me
>556
I have a budget of somewhere between $500-$800 (before glass) for a .308 to shoot at deer. Would prefer wood but could settle for soulless synthetic crap. What should I get?
Tikka T3
Tikka T3 is one I was looking at, just having trouble finding one that satisfies my autistic need for wood stocks.
T3 Hunter is the one you're looking for, then.

KYS
Hello, I'm an Eastern European noguns who is about to buy himself one. I'm leaning towards a shotgun because 1) they're a lot cheaper where I live compared to rifles 2) I dig the versatility of the caliber.
The question I have is, I'm a pretty lanky dude, and I'm wondering if 12ga will have too much of a kick for me. I've fired an SVD before and the 7.62 didn't give me much trouble, though I -was- quite drunk at the time.
I was thinking of 20 gauge but it's like they dont fricking recognize this caliber where I live, it's all 12 or 16 and 16ga has a lot less ammo available.
12 gauge should be fine if you can handle 7.62X54. Different 12 gauge loads have different amounts of kick. Birdshot doesn't kick much, buckshot kicks more and slugs kick more still. You can get low recoil loads if you need.
Stock with 12.
Recoil is dependent not only on gauge but more on payload weight and velocity, to a lesser extent wadding inside the shell and weight of the gun to help brace and absorb some of the recoil generated.
Instead of a single shot, get a decent pump action. Start with lower velocity ammunition and move up to the hotter loads as you get comfortable.
Also, be weary of Turkish made shotguns. Some of the designs are ok, but their material quality and QC is all over the place. A lot of them completely crumble and break within the first couple of shots. I took a chance and had good results, but I cannot in clean conscience recommend taking the chance if there's money/licensing restrictions/time involved that you can't recoup if it's a lemon. There are a lot of affordable, high quality Italian shotguns available in Europe with a far better track record.
Tikka is great, wood stocks are available on Savage 110, Bergara and Howa 1500s as well.
More interesting option, Browning BLR. It's a lever action in 308 made in Japan. Because of all the hype surrounding the Henry Long Ranger nobody cares about BLRs right now and they are completely overlooked on the secondhand market despite being cheaper and far better.
Those aren't semi automatic.
There are tons of semi auto tube fed 22 rifles.
Beyond that, Ruger made two 44 Magnum carbines. One used a scaled up 10/22 rotary magazine, but the earlier one used a tube.
AR is going to be easier.
They want a lot of verification to cut down on scammers, anti gun trolls, hood rats, straw buyers and people who can't pass a background check. It's never going to be totally effective, but the more steps involved the more trash get filtered out. Unfortunately, since we're talking a firearm marketplace it's going to be a magnet for all kinds of bad actors.
Semiautos recoil less harshly and a 12 is sufficient for all shotgun aplications and a safe option.
16 gauge is sufficient for all shotgun aplications i can think of.
As far as a 16 goes:generraly noticably lighter (lanky build, might be a benefit for hunting purposes only, carrying a heavy gun up a mountain is annoying), less recoiling with most load weights,
16 ga guns are cheap and ussually in a barely used or unussed condition.
16 gauge is fine as long as you buy ammo well in advance of shooting it (build a little stockpile throughout a fiew months you just top off before or after shooting) . 4 ammo types that should cover most bases. a box or 2 of Slugs (each box in my experience comes with 10 rnds) , 2 boxes (25 per box) of 2-3mm birdshot and 2 boxes (25 per box)of 3-4 mm birdshot , and at least 4 boxes of trap and or skeet loads if you are into that
Ask around at your local gunshops before deciding between 12 or 16. Ask what 16 gauge ammo they have , how much, and if they ask tell em you are thinking about buying one but arent sure.
For 12 you will find everything you might need. The optimal load weight for a 16 hunting ammo (outside of specialised purposes)is around 1 ounce (about 28 ish grams), for a 12 is 1 + 1/8 ounce (32 ish grams). Very heavy loads ussualy get an irregular pattern or only improove marginal hit effectiveness while reducing center pattern density-paull harel has a video on 3 inch (76mm) and 3.5 inch (89 mm) magnums (extremes)
It's a shame this caliber is falling into oblivion. Most people don't need the extra power given by 12ga. 16ga shotguns are lighter and less of an hassle to have around, they would serve them better.
12ga is great for adapters, though.
>what are some other things I can print
How is this question /k/-related?
To answer your question: Literally anything you can imagine as long as it doesn't require the strenght of metal.
It's almost like a replicator, where you put in a 3D file and get a physical object within hours.

Maybe one of these things?
When I see gunpowder grains, I see either small spheres or tubular 'sprinkles'. Is there a specific advantage/tradeoff to using one or the other, or is it just a manufacturing quirk?
Shape probably depends on how fast the powder burns. It's all about surface area and the specifics of said powder. For example, shotgun powder is often discs. Part manufacturing process, but IMO more to do with controlling burn rate/surface area.
What CQB rifle drills should I be practicing?
Box drill, failure to stop drill, two opponent box drills

looking to get a magnified optic for ranges between 100m to 500m, but I here lpvos are a meme and I don't want a red dot + magnifier combo. I want something that can run on batteries but also has an etched reticle because I don't get resupplies for batteries very often...
Primary Arms 3x Microprism is your best bet for etched+batteries, there are some acogs that use batteries as well.
Do you know of any quality 3x-6x or 3x-9x scopes that are etched + battery?
Primary arms has many variable magnification scopes with illumination options as well
>bullet construction can definitely affect feeding
Does this also explain why the bullet can hit next to or above the chamber area? I've accidentally seated bullets deeper because of this
I bought a subcompact holosun rmr on accident, but to avoid hassle I would like to buy a mount plate for a walther pdp that accommodates a 407K. Anyone know of a place I could buy one?
Send it back and get a 509t or EPS
Yes, but I have already botched this because I bought the red dot a year ago
Guess you gotta either invent a time machine or sell it and buy a better dot.
Is roller delayed guns don't like steelcase just fuddlore or does it apply to more modern designs? I know it's in the CETME manual.
>Is roller delayed guns don't like steelcase just fuddlore
did I miss backwards day?
I've never shot RDB before and don't know much about them but an older guy at the range I go to mentioned it to me while I was clearing a jammed steel case outta my AR
my dad wants a lever rifle really bad, something in .38 or .357, but the lower end ones he mentioned reviews saying you could cut your finger on the loading gate(he takes blood thinners). what are my options? I wanna get him a lever rifle for christmas or his birthday.
Wear gloves?
There are leverguns that use a "removable tube" type magazine (think Marlin model 60) or a detachable box magazine. I can't be fricked to look them up for you but they're out there.
Henry lever actions are tube loaders
Sand and polish the loading gate down to take the edge off
The big thing you can print is stuff that only you need. That thing you want, but don't have? If you can CAD it up, you can make it for yourself.
Is it possible to launch anti-radiation missiles from a ground launcher? Do any militaries do this?
I forgot to mention, for SEAD purposes, not to target enemy aircraft.
Kilshon system. IDF put a Shrike on a sherman hull. Later, they made Keres, which is a standard transport truck with repurposed SM-1 Standards designated AGM-78 and with an anti-radiation seeker installed.

neat, thanks
Want to get my first shotgun but idk shit about them, really. Need recommendations, preferably something mag fed
As in with a removable magazine and not a tube magazine? Why? Also, semi auto or pump?
Never handled a shotgun before so i just think it'd be easier for me to load quickly if I had to. Something semi-auto, like a KS-12 or VR80. I really do want an AA-12 but I have no idea where to look for one, nor do I really have money to burn
You are not getting an aa12, not even a semi auto clone. IIRC the last time someone tried that the ATF threw a shitfit and recalled them because of some reason; I forget.
There are those .410 revolver shotguns. Might be worth a look.
>Never handled a shotgun before so i just think it'd be easier for me to load quickly if I had to
Shotgun mags are annoying, very bulky and sometimes troublesome, there's a reason why pretty much everyone uses tube fed shotties for serious purpuses. Get a used mav 88, if you somehow really dislike it you won't have lost a lot of money but chances are you'll stick to that kind of shotgun. In that case, you could either keep it as they work well, or upgrade to something else like a moss 500 or whatever that pleases you
>there's a reason why pretty much everyone uses tube fed shotties for serious purpuses
>we have done it this way forever
>we will just keep doing it this way because change is hard
>because change is hard
why change to something worse?
go back Black person
The big fat rims on shotguns shells make for really problematic feeding when using a mag, a tube lining them up back to front is way more sensible, reliable, compact, and ergonomic.
when they issued colt walkers 2 to a man, did they intend them to use them at the same time?
2 Conflicts I'm looking for:
>large corporate cattle barrons of us midwest telegram a US Ssebator to send the at to shoot at small family ranchers to get them to sell.
Next conflict
>redneck comes from the red bandanas unionists war to face the corporate over terrible mining conditions and pay
>the federal government lends Tommy guns to the mine owners private army because they favored the long term stability the owners granted and needed for war efforts.
Are the above 2 related?
Had a stroke:
Telegram US senators to send the US army*
Have a stock Lynx 12 chink Saiga clone. Bought a muzzle adapter that I figured would screw on, but I'm asuming I'm missing an adapter I could find easily?
Why does Nontendo's Mario clutch his chest and keel over in the new movie trailer? I can't find any explanation other than Mariocarditis jokes.
Oh, nevermind. Sorry for wasting your time.
